  1. Hi guys! I just recently got a used m15x (with a gt240m gpu...) and have swapped it out for a gtx880m (msi) which is not working currently. I have updated the bios to a09, and then installed the unlocked a09 bios to unlock all options to make sure something there wasn't to blame. The laptop boots and gets to windows just fine if you're plugged into a monitor via VGA, but windows does not recognize the gpu or let you install drivers for the card. Additionally, if a monitor is not plugged in the laptop screen goes white and emits one very loud beep every few minutes. Aside from this, the laptop behaves as expected. I'm having trouble finding any support online regarding this issue and was hoping that somebody here could give me a bit of a pointer on where I should look to next. as a side note, forgot to add that I originally purchased the card after finding a list of people showing off benchmark scores for different cards in the m15x, one of which was the 880m, which could be purchased cheaply online. I'm currently looking into how to flash vBIOS as it was mentioned in one of the few posts I could find on the subject, but am waiting to hear if this is the right course of action. thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide!
  2. Hello Everyone. This is my first post, I'm not really that well educated in the world of laptops, so please go easy, I might need a bit of hand holding here. my laptop is the GT70-0nc, its the barebones MS-1762 I believe, I bought it from a custom laptop builder online. The 675m is fried I think, BSOD all over the place, disabling it and switching to my HD4000 integrated fixed the BSOD. I'm looking into upgrading the GPU of my laptop except there's some things that have me completely baffled... 1. Which GPU's are actually compatible? - I was looking at the 680m but if there are newer gpu's that work I'd love consider those too. 2. I have read a lot about flashing my BIOS, this really confused me. I get the American Megatrends Logo on boot up, so I tried checking out their BIOS but everything i've read says use the MSI VBios? I have a good bit of experience with the hardware in my laptop, I've taken it apart quite a few times like to change thermal paste / general maintinence and upgrade my WIFI card. it's the software and compatibility issues that are really getting me stuck. Any help would be massively appreciated! Thanks
  3. NEED HELP. I have no idea what I can do. Everywhere I've looked there's no solution. Running on a i5 HP Pavilion dm4 and my graphics card is a Geforce 8800 Gts. I plugged everything in correctly. 1.took out my wifi card and screwed in the pcie to hdmi cord then plugged it into the egpu dock. 2. my psu and gpu (that I also connected onto the egpu dock) start up PERFECTLY when I press my laptops power button. 3. Windows 10 starts up fine and in device manager it detects my GPU on the external dock perfectly. I disabled my laptops internal HD graphics and restarted my laptop. 4. I downloaded the drivers needed for my graphics card through "Geforce Experience" then restarted my laptop like it said to do and now IN DEVICE MANAGER it shows ************************ "This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use. (Code 12) if you want to use this device, you will need to disable one of the other devices on this system" *************************** what device do I need to disable??? Is there a driver that is also located in the same PCI E port that I need to disable or something? A member on the forums named Tesla said something about how code 12 indicates a driver conflict, 2 drivers accessing the same hardware ports at the same time. But what other drivers are enabled that are blocking my graphics card?? (PCI bus 1, device 0, function 0) is where it says my graphics card is located. I don't want to disable or uninstall the wrong thing and Idk what it is I have to do. Would VERY MUCH appreciate any guidance and help. I've been looking everywhere! And no luck I would owe you an arm and leg if someone can help me in this jam! I just want to play some games!

  5. Hello, I am planning on building my first computer soon. 800 budget (can go over a little, includes os and monitor, max is 900) I will be using this computer mostly to game, right now I have parts worth 1000, so I would like to decrease that cost if possible without losing too much performance. The Build I have selected comes to just over 1,060$... Some parts may be incompatible, please let me know, and some might not be worth it. As you can see, I went with a red theme. (Would've went with blue but I already have red headphones and such.) 6. Hi everyone. Got a quick question. I have an Alienware M18X R1 and I am looking to install a unlocked BIOS. However after searching the downloads section the only BIOS available is for the R2. Are those BIOS the same for both machines? I do not want to brick my rig on the very first BIOS mod attempt. Any help would be awesome.
  7. So basically, I wanted to find a way to play games without lagging everywhere and the only thing that is bad on my laptop is the graphics card, so somehow I stumbled into this eGPU page and hopefully someone can help me basically understand how all of this works or at least attempt to help me out. So I have an Dell Inspiron 17 7000 series and ill basically copy and paste the processor if that is relevant information. The processor is a Intel(R) core(TM) i5-5200U CPU @ 2.20GHz so I have no idea what most of this means because when it comes to laptops and modification I am just completely clueless. I was just hoping to get an answer from someone if I could even have a eGPU setup and what it would cost me for that and if it is even worth doing. I know this is where people who know everything about this stuff, but I am just really interested to see if I could actually just upgrade graphics cards without buying a brand new computer, and hopefully somebody can help a clueless man. Thank you for reading and replying if you choose to.
  8. So here is my current setup: Alienware M17X R4 Bios A12 GPU: Nvidia 660M CPU: Intel i7 3630QM HHD - Samsung 840 EVO SSD 250GB and stock Toshiba 500GB Ram - cardboard 8gb OS- Windows 7 I did get the upgraded power supply BTW So I just ordered a 980m and wanted to get some tips on how to install this bad boy. I know I probally have to flash my bios and install some modified drivers but I have no Idea where to start. I am kind of a noob with this. The physical install seems easy I just dont know about the software side. If someone could please help me out on how to install the bios and drivers I would greatly appreciate it.
  9. So I'm planning on building an egpu setup due to the fact that I want desktop performance, while I am unable to build a desktop. My main concern is of the thunderbolt port and jack, which is obviously superior to the express card. It is my goal to use my current laptop (Lenovo y50, https://www.amazon.com/Lenovo-15-6-Inch-Gaming-Laptop-59425944/dp/B00K6ZIMPE) however, it doesn't have a port for thunderbolt. Are there any adapters that I can use? Below are what I'm planning on using, please provide input on what I should change- GPU-EVGA GTX1070, Founders Edition, https://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-Support-Graphics-08G-P4-6173-KR/dp/B01GLRX81I/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1476304953&sr=8-1&keywords=gtx%2Bgeforce%2B1070&th=1 PSU (I am looking for a cheaper one, I do plan on overclocking), https://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Factor-Modular-Certified-Warranty/dp/B01CGGOXWQ?psc=1&SubscriptionId=AKIAJ2RTWSYJUOAO3DIA&tag=bom_tomshardware-20&linkCode=xm2&camp=2025&creative=165953&creativeASIN=B01CGGOXWQ&tzd=18&ascsubtag=[site|thaus[cat|[art|[pid|B01CGGOXWQ[tid|14763061341006985[bbc|LESPRIX Dock, Akitio Thunder2, https://www.amazon.com/Akitio-AMZ-T2PC-TIA-AKTU-Thunder2-PCIe/dp/B00LTAUTHE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1476304543&sr=8-1&keywords=akitio+thunder2+pcie+box And so far that is what I have, I just recently started researching and I heard that this place was the best for input. I also want an external monitor and possible an external keyboard, but I am still thinking about that due to budget. Please provide input on what I should do, thank you!
  10. Thanks in advance.. My egpu is not working at full power after i recently completely uninstalled all drivers and re installed them.. I have a work around which is just doing a clean uninstall and reinstalling the drivers. it is getting tiresome every time i boot up my computer or the display turns off it messes up, please help!! i have a dell e6420 which has an intel 3000 and a nvs 4200m integrated,(gtx 660 external) but this problem arised after i clean uninstalled and the nvs 4200m appeared back in my display adapter list i'm not sure what happened and it seems like the graphics cards are working but the gtx 660 is only working about %35 .. any help or ideas are welcome!
  11. Hi there, I have been trying to make my setup work for the last 3 days with no luck, First let me show you my setup Laptop: Lenovo u530, Windows 10, have iGpu and dGpu adapter: exp gdc beast v8 mpcie version eGpu: gigabyte GTX 960 2g psu: Corsair cx500 +external screen connected directly to eGpu The first thing I did is to setup all the things and plug in the exp gdc to my mpcie slot that was occupied by my wireless card. Booting up my laptop results in black screen and trying to change the PTD delay to 7 and 15 s doesn't help. Plugging in the exp gdc after the laptop is booted up results that the eGpu not detected. I then realized that this was a whitelist problem, so I tried to hotplug the mpcie while the laptop is in sleep. Now the eGpu is detected but with error 31. This was fixed by simply installing the right driver. After restarting my laptop, now alll my GPU are recognized by device manager. But now my eGpu have error 12 on it. I tried to fix this by disabling my dGpu by changing the display setup in BIOS into UMA only. This first looks like a miracle. EVERYTHING seems to works perfectly. my eGpu is now recognized with no error, my external monitor now have a picture that is mirroring my main screen. nVidia experience and nVidia setup shows that my Gpu is only my iGpu and eGpu. I then tried to run benchmark test....... 0.9 fps...... my eGpu is there but not doing any work. I tried tweaking with the nVidia setup thinking that it's just a setup error, but still no luck. After that I tried tweaking with the display setup. Everything crashed and now I have error 43 for both my iGpu and eGpu. Looking up this forum, I found that I should uninstall all my driver using DDU and reinstalling it with a clean driver. Still error 43. I tried changing back my display setup in BIOS back to discrete and uninstall all driver again using DDU, after installing a clean driver, I'm now back with error 12. Right now I have no idea what to do. Will setup 1.3 fix my problem? or should I try do something else? please help, Thank you for reading this, Nikolas
  12. Hey guys. I've been testing my eGPU setup for about a year now - and it works, but it is almost unusable, do to some very strange small issues. First off i had a problem, which might be in relation to my "real problem" so therefore i am mentioning it, for a long time that my gpu just crashed - after reading on this forum I tried to remove the power for the Akitio fan and that seem to have fixed the crashes. But my real problem is kinda weird - so everything works great - in every benchmark i get a significant better score with the eGPU. But it dosen't feel like it when i use it - my games "glitch out" when i use the eGPU, they lag significant more - and simple text rendering is lagging to. ex. scrolling through af webpage is a nightmare with the eGPU - everything kinda "blinks" doing the scrolling - also in sublime text (a IDE for coding) scrolling through only 200 lines of codes is "lagging" beyond what is bearable. I would like to upload an video of this behavior if anyone thinks that is necessary ? Hope some one can help me out with an ideer or two ? Regards, Sip
  13. First of all, sorry for my English. I have purchased a graphics card gtx 970m, for my laptop msi GT70 0ND. The driver of graphic if I leave that is installed but in shaping the games I get default intel graphics. You can help ?, please Thanks
