  1. Hi all. I'm trying to update my ASUS G73SW laptop with a new GPU card. Originally it comes with the great GTX 460m, which still nowadays runs AAA games (OpenGL 4.5 and DX11, medium and high settings, 1600x900 resolution). I own a GTX 780m DELL card bought 6 years ago with the intention of doing the upgrade, however circumstances of life made me to concentrate only in work (IT) and the project was forgotten. Now I'm taking back the project again. That's why I come here for help. Is it possible someone of you could help me in modding the attached BIOS (info extracted with BIOS Backup Tools 12.2) to support the GTX 780m DELL card? Links with result.rar from BIOS Backup Tools 12.2: https://www.sendspace.com/file/15om7i or https://www39.zippyshare.com/v/HlOxLCUg/file.html In case you need vbios for GTX 780m: https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/142721/dell-gtx780m-4096-130418 Thanks in advance!
  2. Wlc, I want to create an afermarket diy cooling solution for my laptop.
  3. Hello all, Im new to this forum so please bear with me here. As the title says im upgrading my M17xR3 from a dead 6970m to a 780m. Have not purchased the video card yet, but will be doing so thursday. So in preparation of that, i wanted to make a post on here asking for all experience, advice, and any tricks or problems people have experienced doing this upgrade themselves. All help and advice is welcome. My current system is a M17xR3, gpu 6970m, cpu 2860qm, screen is 1920x1080. I still love my computer and it has been a solid workhorse for the past 4-5 years. I have run this 6970m overclocked to 820/1100 and actually surprised it lasted 5 years like this. I think the final nail in the coffin was upgrading to windows 10 and trying to install new drivers. I think i mistakenly tried to install the wrong drivers, trying to get the most current after new windows install. But anywho i still want to keep my computer and just upgrade the gpu. I have done a lot of research and seems the easiest upgrade would be to go to a 780m as anything higher then that tends to be very problematic. As long as it out performs the 6970 the way i had it overclocked i will be happy. So a few questions reguarding this matter Is this a major jump in performance or will i not notice to much difference? Any major problems or things to look out for in this upgrade, what not to do, what to make sure to do? What is the best thermal paste to use these days? Where can i get the thermal pads i need for the 780m? will i need custom video drivers to make this work? Where do i get them? Do i have to disable the integrated graphics for this to work? what all do i need to make this switch from the 6970m? do i need a whole new heatsink, or just the xbracket? Is the 780m safe to overclock at all, anyone done so at a stable overclock. And basically anything you think a noob should know about this before i dive in? All help, advice, experience, mess-ups, are welcome. looking to go into this with some pre-learned knowledge and hopefully it will all turn out o.k.
  4. So yeah, hello, this is my first post here. Well, the point is I've run into some issue. Today I decided to flash the vBIOS of my MSI laptop (GTX 780M). Apparently, it was successful but now for some reason, the computer isn't detecting my card. In short, I believe the pictures will describe it better. Just see below: So should I like revert back to stock or is there something else that needs to be done? Also I still have the NVIDIA drivers but they're not being recognized at all. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.
  5. Hi everyone. I'm new here. I bought a GTX 780M from eurocom. I have no knowledge about the insides of the R3 and was afraid to do it myself. I live in Thailand and there is only one (ex-tech) guy I know that used to work on Alienware so I took it to him for help. I followed the installation procedure provided here and it happened to work fine. Until that night that the screen starts to blink on and off several times, and then it went black. I restarted, the screen was not turned on, no POST and the laptop produced 8 beeps, indicating LCD failure. Today I took it to the same guy. He swapped the 780M with my old 580M and it worked, so it's not the LCD. Then he swapped back the 780M, no POST, but now with 6 beeps, GPU failure. Then he swapped the 780M to his own R3 (with A10 BIOS), POST, booted perfectly fine. But on my R3 was still 6 beeps. We really had no idea of what was going on and the guy refused to help me any further since he is now a very busy man, so I'm on my own from now. Right now I'm running on my old GTX 580M. Please help me out, I don't know what to do anymore. Thank you.
