  1. I am using an EGPU on my Lenovo Y510p (http://imgur.com/HN51mJj). I have hooked up the GPU and booted up windows and I got the error 43 message (http://imgur.com/QfhThfh). I a using a Corsair CX600PSU and the V8.0 EXP GDC Beast EGPU enclosure (http://www.banggood.com/Mini-PCI-E-Version-V8_0-EXP-GDC-Beast-Laptop-External-Independent-Video-Card-Dock-p-1011222.html).
  2. I want to exchange my 750 ti for 1050 ti. Would you like to know if the GTX 1050 ti is compatible with EGPU? Sorry for my bad english.
  3. Long story short: Code 43 error on laptop after installing drivers. Laptop itself has intel integrated graphics and also Nvidia GeForce 820m integrated into motherboard. The Nvidia 820m works fine(with code 43 error) when i unplug the GTX 680( which is mounted on the Bangood mini-pcie adapter). However once plugged in both the Nvidia Geforce 820m and the Nvidia GTX 680 GPU have a code 43 error. I've tried unistalling and re-installing drivers. The versions i've tried are: 376.33, 376.19, 368.81. I've used DDU to clear the drivers as well (in safe mode) but that seems to have failed as well. Notebook Specs are: Ram: 8gb Processor Intel I5 4510u GPU: Nvidia 820m 2gb On another note: Also trying to use internal LCD Screen & unable to switch to UMA Gpu instead of integrated (may cause issues) since the BIOS does not seem to have the option (either that or i am blind).
  4. I am having trouble setting up my egpu for a Dell Inspiron 15R-5521. I can't get it to detect my egpu. I have egpu setup 1.30 installed on a usb drive but I can't get it to chainload to windows. It works fine if I plug it into my destop PC so I know it's not the egpu board. The only thing I can think of is to reformat the hard drive to mbr instead of gpt, but I don't want to do that if I don't have to. Please help. 5. Hi, a week ago i decided to build an eGpu Setup for my Macbook Pro. I installed Windows 10 (excidentley deleted OS X :/) and pluged the Zotac GTX 970 via Akitio Thunderbox into my Macbook(only Supports Thunderbolt 1). The device Manager detected the eGpu and i installed the latest Driver. Now the problem, when im triyng to play for example Company of Heroes the eGPU is obviously not in action. The Company of Heroes Benchmark says something about 1-4 fps. Im very confused because when im running this Benchmark with disabled Intel hd 4000 the GTX970 works well:http://www.geeks3d.com/gputest/. please help me, its so frustrating to see the egpu running in this Benchmark and dont see it in games.
  6. Could the expresscard HDMI wire be damaged even though the graphics card runs and the GDC beast turns on? I sometimes while plugged in can see the GPU in the device manager but it quickly disappears. Could it be my HDMI wire? how can i test it.
  7. Hi! I wanna make DIY eGPU for my MacBook Pro 2012 and i need your helps. First of all , I need this eGPU for Windows which i use with bootcamp. Akitio doesnt support as i know. How can i make a eGPU in cheapest way ? I will use GTX 1050Ti or GTX 1060. I'm living in Turkey and Amazon De can ship here. I m looking forward to your help!
  8. Ive had my GDC beast 8.0 with GTX 750ti for 6months now. There was no issue before recently but suddenly my set up hangs i get a black screen with weird sounds from the speakers, it switches to my internal monitor and I get a blue screen with a CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT error. It only happens when i turn on games and at random times. sometimes 2mins, some times 5-10mins. Really frustrating as I had a working system before but now its all gone to shit. My set up. GDC EXP BEAST 8.0 NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750ti 8gb ram intel core i5 CPU M 540 @ 2.53GHz I am 95% sure its not a power issue as Ive tried both a ATX 500wat power supply and the DELL 220W adapter. Reinstalled all the drivers with a clean nvidia driver and problem still persists. Any and all help is appreciated.
  9. Ok, a little background. I have a lenovo L420 laptop and bought an EGPU adapter via Express Card. I used a Geforce GTX 1050 TI In order for this to work you need to first disconnect any egpu external device and perfrom DSDT override to your system. Very easy guide thanks to user 'angerthosenear' found here (JAVA MUST BE INSTALLED IN ORDER TO RUN .BAT FILE. Other wise nothing will open) Keep in mind step 5 on his tutorial was a bit off. The correct code should look like this: DWordMemory (ResourceProducer, PosDecode, MinFixed, MaxFixed, Cacheable, ReadWrite, 0x00000000, // Granularity 0x000A0000, // Range Minimum 0x000BFFFF, // Range Maximum 0x00000000, // Translation Offset 0x00020000, // Length ,, , AddressRangeMemory, TypeStatic) /*above this line is only for reference. only copy below*/ QWordMemory (ResourceProducer, PosDecode, MinFixed, MaxFixed, Cacheable, ReadWrite, 0x0000000000000000, // Granularity 0x0000000C20000000, // Range Minimum, set it to 48.5GB 0x0000000E0FFFFFFF, // Range Maximum, set it to 56.25GB 0x0000000000000000, // Translation Offset 0x00000001F0000000, // Length calculated by Range Max - Range Min. ,, , AddressRangeMemory, TypeStatic) Restart your computer and confirm your DSDT override worked by going to Device Manager -> Resources by Connection -> Memory and you should see a hierarchy for 'Large Memory' When I was at this point I was still getting error 43. I thought it was a driver issue, but ****** via email thought it was a timing issue with clocks so he suggested I 'Jumpered' the powersupply so it would constantly stay on as long as it was plugged in. So when I plugged my expresscard in the laptop, the GPU would already be powered on. I would first plug your EGPU in your system and see if you still get this error. If so, jump the power supply unit by grounding the greenwire with either of the black wires to the right or left of it. This can be done in many ways, be smart about it. Try to make it reversible. Don't be like me and cut it, splice it, and jam in behind the ground wire. It works, but, not very pretty. This should get yours working. Unless you have a 1050 TI, if so, read on. Download driver versions 372.70 and 375.63 and extract them 1:) - Open the INF for 375.63 Extract the drivers you want to modify using something like 7zip. (with 7zip installed, just rightclick and press "Extract to "/File name here"") Inside the extracted driver folder open Display.Driver. The "nv_dispi.inf" in that folder is what we need to modify. If you can't find nv_dispi.inf, look for "nvts.inf", "nv_dispwi.inf", or "nv4_dispi.inf" instead. 2:) - Your GPU string Search (CTRL+F) for your gpu '1050 TI' Copy these lines, should be 3 if I remember correctly 3:) - paste them in the appropriate place on the 372.70 INF file 4:) install 372.70 Drivers and restart 5:) Now, your error 43 should be gone but your GPU will run like dog sh*t. You need to install drivers 375.63 EXPRESS INSTALL ONLY. If done correctly you will not be prompted to restart. Congratulations, you're done. Took me 3 days to figure this out. If an idiot like me can do it, so can you. I will gladly answer any questions
  10. So i was thinking if i could make my lenovo yoga 500 better since its not very powerful when coming to games i usually play War thunder and i can get 60fps while on minimal and the laptop overheats quite fast so would there be a way how to make it faster like getting eGPU upgrading the components etc. I have also heard that the graphics card and the processor are soldered to the motherboard so i cant change it that easy please im open to any advices thanks in advance
  11. Hey guys, I am pretty new here. This is my first post (I posted a similar thing on Reddit). I have been a long time lurker and am keen to get your guys' input on what I have to offer. So I found the Akitio Node for sale from this UK company: http://www.equip-u.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=45_896&products_id=20752 Seems like a legit site from what I can tell etc. And it's even linked on the Akitio official website 'Where to Buy' page for Europe (https://www.akitio.com/where-to-buy/akitio-sites). But there's nothing on their site about being in stock etc. Now I've been lurking for a while and it looks like none of the Thunderbolt 3 eGPU boxes(apart from the Razer Core) are actually available at all in Europe yet. Am I missing anything? TL;DR version: Is it worth ordering from these guys on the chance that they actually have it in stock?
  12. Hello, first of all, I am new to the forum and if this topic does not belong to this section, please move it to the corresponding section. I am new to the world of egpu, I met it 5 days ago, so I have several questions. 1-I have a dell inspiron 17 5749, can I egpu? 2- If the answer to the first question is yes, how could I? 3- What components and methods do you recommend? The specifications of my pc Processor Intel Core i5-5200U 2.4 GHz Graphics adapter Intel HD 5500 Memory 8192 MB Display 17.3 inch 16: 9, 1600x900 pixel If you need something more to respond, feel free to ask. 13. Published on Dec 6, 2016 I have seen a lot of people online lately asking questions and wondering if it is possible to have an external graphics setup via thunderbolt for an HP Spectre (Product name:HP Spectre Notebook Product number: W2K28UA#ABA). In general, i want to show an eGPU setup via any thunderbolt 3 connection. In this video i will show how to successfully setup and run an eGPU with 3 main components. Keep in mind that if you are going to use the Akitio PCIe thunderbolt 3 expansion box like i did, you WILL NOT be able to fit full length graphics cards, they must be half length and up to full height double width. Akitio Thunderbolt 3 PCIe expansion box: (around $260) --- https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01... EVGA NVIDIA GeForce GTX 950 Graphics Card: (actually around $200 - i said $300 in the video so thats a plus) --- https://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-C... Power Supply EVGA 430 w: (around $25) --- https://www.amazon.com/EVGA-WHITE-War... Also, here is a link below to download the Geforce Experience for driver installation and updates. --- http://www.geforce.com/geforce-experi... Grand total, just shy of around 500 bucks give or take shipping costs. A bit steep considering that the majority is spent on the expansion box however, it is good to have the freedom to expand upon mobile hardware. Its also important to note that when i clocked the stock GPU it barely ran on the same program. it scored a mere 2400 as compared to the eGPU setup which scored over 9000, equating to roughly a 450% increase in raw graphics capability. If you have any questions please ask away.

PLAY ON INTERNAL RETINA MONITOR @LukeHero MOD: So the main limitations with this model of Macbook is the fact that you need an external display. So @LukeHero got around this limitation with this little device and three resistors: It's a HDMI to VGA adapter. All you need to do is put 3x 100ohm resistors inside the VGA port to create a fake external display. You can see where the resistors need to go with this image: So the deal with this is, any program started on the 'external screen' (being powered by the eGPU) will use the eGPU. So what you'll want to do is set the fake display as your main display. Then anything started on that display will be running from the eGPU. Now there is a little limitation here; only games that run in windowed mode will work (which is most). You'll want to start the game on the fake screen in windowed mode and then drag it over to your internal display. So how do you grab from a display you can't see? Well, I found this free program called Dual Monitor Tools (it's free right here: Dual Monitor Tools - Home ) and what you can do in this program is set a keyboard shortcut to move the selected window over to the other display. So you click on the game in the task bar, and hit the shortcut you assigned and it'll pop over to the internal screen, but because it was launched on the fake screen, it'll be powered by the eGPU. Simple as that, there's no performance hit either as you're just dragging the game to the other screen. A good tip is to have the internal display set as default first, launch the game, go to options and set the game to windowed mode now, then quit and relaunch after you've changed the fake screen as your primary. Otherwise you might not be able to switch it with the shortcut while it's in full screen. HOW TO CLOSE THE AKITIO CASE: HOW TO START THE SETUP (when i want to play games): 1. choose eGPU Setup 1.2 from boot menu and select 1 with your keyboard 2. choose again Windows 10 from boot menu 3. Start the game i want 4. Press the combination for Dual Monitor Tools to show the game on my internal display (i use Borderless Gaming so i run my games fullscreen on my retina display) 5. Done - my old rMBP 2012 can run all new games - 30-60FPS (1680x1050) on Very High/Ultra settings on my retina display Borderless like Fullscreen! 15. Hello fellow eGPU enthusiasts. This is my first post after weeks of reading and studying different threads. I have as the title suggests, a 2013 Mac Pro and I'm trying to get a TITAN X working in my Akitio Thunder2 setup. I have tried pretty much everything I believe and I'm sure it's something really silly and simple I've overlooked. Here's where I'm up to: Erased SSD Fresh install of El Capitan + all security updates installed. Disabled SIP Downloaded and ran @goalque's script (thanks for automating the process) TITAN X is recognised and the script runs fine. Reboot I get to the Apple boot screen with the progress bar - it goes a third of the way and then stops. Machine hangs. Have to press and hold the power button to shut down. This suggests a kernel panic to me. I disconnect the eGPU and turn on - OS X boots as expected. eGPU is powered by a Be Quiet 650W Power Zone PSU using a Phobya ATX-bridging plug. I am using a twin molex to barrel plug (non-solder method) to power the Thunder2. I would appreciate any help and if you need further information from me, just let me know. I'd love to get this thing up and running! Cheers, Andy
  16. Problem description 1. What's the problem? I have hooked up my eGPU through the ExpressCard Slot. I have installed all drivers. Under Device Manager it shows my eGPU. Sometimes it will show up with an error 12 but most of the time it does not. When I plug in the HDMI port to my TV, my TV acts like to it received a signal and fails displaying no signal. 2. Have you consulted the Troubleshooting FAQ to resolve the issue? I believe I have delved into it thoroughly but nothing has worked. Thank you for getting me this far, I have been at this for days. 3. Have you consulted the Pre-Purchase FAQ --> "2. How can I check if my notebook is compatible with an eGPU?" Yes, I have also seen many videos and posts of people using my exact same laptop with wonderful success. Platform Description Lenovo ThinkPad T420 Windows 7 64bit SP1 8gb Ram XFX Radeon HD 6870 EVGA 400W PSU [+12V Max Current = 30 Amps] PE4C-EC060A V3.0 ( eGPU PCIe x16 interface for ExpressCard) Notes There are two-3 position switches located on the board. I have them set at their default 1 and 1. Any help resolving these issues would be greatly appreciated.
  17. I have hooked up my graphics card via akitio thunderbolt chassis . I have installed all the drivers necessary and still do not any image from HDMI out on card. The computer read my graphics card in that sections of system report before but now does not say it. I have downloaded CUDA and installed script for drivers and no image. Can anyone please help ?
  18. Hi folks! Thank you all for the great resources here. With your help I've been able to get up and running with my eGPU fairly easily on my Dell Precision m4800 (details below) with an EVGA 1070 FTW. My question is when I boot up with both the internal and external GPUs enabled, the fans crank up to 100% on the external card and I'm unable to control the fan speed with SpeedFan or the EVGA Precision app. I found that if I disable the built-in card (K2100M) via the Device Manager and reboot, then the fans run properly on the external unit. The fans on this card are almost as loud as a rack server when running at full blast! While this work-around gets me up and running, it's a bit obnoxious when I switch between gaming and working. Has anyone else run into a similar situation with their setups? Thanks! Dell Precision m4800 Core i7-4800MQ 8G RAM Windows 10 Pro 1607 Nvidia Quadro K2100M (internal card) EVGA Nvidia GTX 1070 FTW DT EVGA 850p2 supply for the card PE4C-EC060A V3.0 Nvidia Driver 375.95 Direct3D 12 No BIOS mods made, just installed the updated drivers, plugged in the card and rebooted. Works great even though the card is definitely overkill for the ExpressCard buss (but I can throw it in a desktop when I need to).
  19. Hi. I have build 4 egpus stations based on Akitio and 980ti. After eGPU Script i can work with two of them on Sierra. But when I plug 4 of them (no matter if i use two thunderbolt cables(2x2) or one (1x4)) my imac 5k won't boot and it's stuck not even making a startup sound. The same thing with three. Only two gpu's setup works perfect. Can anyone have any idea what can be wrong and how to fix this? Thank You P.S. I have also tried the bootcamp and windows 10 sees all 4 of them but only one is active and renders in octane bench. I have the same problem with booting as in macos, so i have to do it by hot plugging thunderbolt cable.
  20. Hello all, I recently picked up a Lenovo T430 as a replacement to an Asus laptop of mine. Soon after it arrived I found that the expresscard slot could be used for eGPU setups. So, I decided to try my hand at it. I have reached a bit of a roadblock though. Laptop Specs: T430 i5-2520m 8gb RAM 120gb SSD Board being used PE4C-EC060A V3.0 GPU: ATI Radeon 5670 512mb I am able to run an external monitor off of the eGPU and it does not show any errors (12) or otherwise. However, after working flawlessly for anywhere between 1 and 5 minutes, the display driver begins to crash every 5-10 seconds, freezing the computer completely. I managed to open MSI Afterburner for a moment before the driver crashed and saw that each time it did so, my eGPU usage spiked to about 80-100%. Not sure if that is relevant, but I found it odd. The 5670 does not require external power and the PE4C is connected to an EVGA 430W psu via the mobo power. I'd appreciate any input anybody with more experience has on this issue. Thanks, Zach
  21. What laptop is ideal for an egpu setup mostly for lighter games like rocket league and some bf4 but on medium setting 1080p. I have a GTX 660 TI reference card and a GDC express card variant. Please help me choose a laptop. Im thinking about the Lenovo W530 (love the looks but no mxm). The HP 8770W (I think it has a whitelist but has an ExpressCard and mxm 3 b.
  22. So I currently am using a GDC beast 8.0 with a 220W dell power supply. My GPU is the GTX 750 ti which does not require its own power. In 2weeks time I want to upgrade my GPU to the GTX 1060 6gb version. I have 2 questions regarding this. First, how would i power the new card, do i need to use a ATX power supply or can i just connect a pin from the GDC beast to the new GPU. Will the DELL 220W supply be enough for the card? Second, my CPU is OLD. It is the first gen i5 540m for the 8440p. It only supports gen 1 port, atleast that is what @****** told me. Can i use a brand new card such as the 1060 on this CPU without issues with the EGPU? If you need any more information please do not hesitate to ask. Thanks for reading.
  23. Hi! I'm new here. I have a MBP 15-inch (Mid 2014, Iris Pro 5200) with macOS 10.12.1 installed. Can I run eGPU with an AMD Graphics Card (HD 7000, R9 300, R9 Nano or RX 400) using the internal display on macOS? (I don't prefer running it on Windows.) I've known the automate-eGPU.sh, but I'm not sure if it can support the internal display. Thanks for answering!
  24. Hi there, I'm new to the forum but I've been reading some post from it since long ago. I just wanted to know certain things that I wasn't able to find trough the forum searcher. I'm thinking about putting an eGPU to my Lenovo B50-50. I don't do heavy gaming, I mean, the heaviest game I like to run is warface (Idk if u guys know it) and I will be more than happy if I could get it to run at 60stable fps at medium. I was thinking about getting the following: -This GTX750: https://www.pccomponentes.com/gigabyte-geforce-gtx-750-ti-oc-windforce-2gb-gddr5-reacondicionado- -The exp GDC 7.0 : http://www.banggood.com/es/EXP-GDC-Laptop-External-PCI-E-Graphics-Card-p-934367.html - And, a power supply : https://www.pccomponentes.com/corsair-cx430-v2-430w-builder-series How do you see it? My pc specs are the following: - Intel Core i3-5005U Processor( 2.00GHz 1600MHz 3MB) - HD Intel 5500 - 4.0GB PC3L-12800 DDR3L 1600 MHz How much improvement it is going to cause? I play games like LoL (It already runs at smooth 60 fps with my setup), Drakensang, star conflict. warface, left 4 dead 2 etc... I know I can't increase my ram, there is a solution similar to the egpu but for increasing the ram memory? I've been looking for cases for the external setup but they are incomprehensibly expensive, no budget cases? If not I can made up something.. Thanks in advance. To finish, I know laptops are not for gaming, is what I got from my parents and I have to make the best of it for my needs. I appreciate any help.
  25. (using a traductor) Hello everyone. My problem is that after buying the "exp gdc v8" by bangood and trying to install an eGPU on my Dell Inspiron N5110 with an MSI GTX 1060 GAMING X 6GB GDDR5 I do not get the expected result. Another thing to keep in mind is that the BIOS of this computer is junk and does not allow switching between dGPU and eGPU I will explain in several cases, in which the graphic card is correctly connected: 1- After turning on the power supply and connecting the HDMI-miniPCI-E cable, and the HDMI cable of the graphic to an external monitor and turning on the notebook, the screen remains black with the computer fan running. After a few seconds the graphics fans turn off and the computer continues with the black screen. 2- After turning on the power supply and connecting the HDMI-miniPCI-E cable, and the HDMI cable of the graphics card to an external monitor and turning on the notebook, the computer turns on normally and even, in the device manager, appears in The screen adapters section, the graphic card with a yellow triangle error. Now, what I did was take an old graphics card and do step number 1. To my surprise, everything was on wheels, installed its driver and worked wonderfully. Could the NVIDIA GTX 1060 not be compatible for some reason? Thanks in advance
