  1. Dell just released a couple of new BIOS for their most recent AW systems. Thanks @Nemesis for the big news. There's no change log available, so let us know how it goes and whether you notice any big differences. Maybe if someone could make some screenshots in case there's any visible difference... I attached the untouched BIOS, it can't be accessed through the official site at the moment. NOTE: You might not be able to easily downgrade to something older than A08 anymore. EDIT 2: A09 is not on the Dell site, but file is nowhere to be found. You might want to wait with updating until they release A09. Here's the official link: Drivers and Downloads | Dell [united States] M17x_R4 - BIOS A08.zip
  2. Here are the M14x BIOS revisions A07 and A08 with all the menus unlocked, just as previously with A05. This has not been tested so far, as I don't own an M14x, if you want to test it flash it with the tool in the attached archive and please report back! Thanks in advance! After flashing I highly recommend to go to the BIOS menu and load the default settings! *************** If you like these BIOS releases, please consider a donation to Tech|Inferno. *************** As always with such mods... you're responsible for your machine and what you do with it. Edit: A08 confirmed to work, A07 as well. Thanks a lot for testing @alroar ! M14x [unlocked] BIOS A07.zip M14x [unlocked] BIOS A08.zip
  3. New BIOS revision for the M17x r3 is out, A08. Incredibly fast update considering that A07 got just released about a week ago... On the Dell site it only says "Support new CPUs", this indicates that the release of the Sandy Bridge refresh is just about to happen. That's only a guess, but I think it mainly means the i7 2640M, i7 2760QM, i7 2860QM (and i7 2960XM , see also here for more information about these CPUs) I wonder whether they also already fixed some of the bugs which apparently came with BIOS A07, no further information so far. Report here about your findings, I'm especially curious whether the 580m throttling issues is still present with this BIOS. Click here to download BIOS A08
