  1. I've been wanting to see what 144hz is all about. Which monitor is better? They both have good reviews but I see a lot more people recommend the Asus one but most don't state a reason other than "It is 3D and G-Sync capable." Also, what about BenQ monitors? Acer GN246HL Asus VG248QE
  2. Hey Guys, I sold my Asus GTX 760 DirectCUII OC on ebay around two months ago, the guy reported it as not working even though I had previously used it without problems from new. Just received it back today to check for myself why it is not working but I have a new build from what I used the card before. Currently running an AMD 7850K APU with no dedicated card except for the 760 I just got back. There is power as shown by the green LED, the fans are spinning at max but the card is not detected as the buyer first reported. I have tried connecting via HDMI and DVI to VGA. The six pin power is plugged into my Corsair RM650 PSU, which is obviously more than sufficient. The card is seated and fixed in slot correctly as repeated this twice to make sure. Done a BIOS reset by removing battery, disabled the onboard graphics in BIOS to allow for PCI to take over. I am using the Gigabyte GA-F2A88XN-WIFI Mini-ITX so there is only one PCI-E slot. I can only think that the card has been flashed or voltages run too high by this guy and therefore rendered the card useless, there is no physical damage ruling out courier damage in transit. I doubt of any liquid damage since there is no signs of residue and the card powers on fine. Any ideas? Anyway to detect the card outside of windows device manager such as some software or in DOS? Can I flash the card or check it's status even though it's not detected? Thinking to just RMA it to Asus but that will take a ridiculous amount of time. Thanks.

  4. Xigmatek Elysium Full System Watercooling After my Asus MarsII watercooling project has “failed”, I went on with my two GTX Titans. I was long undecided whether I want to invest money again to set up or leave the system as it is with an unused radiator, reservoir and pump. In November I decided to create a list with all watercooling components which I would need to cool the entire system with one watercooling loop. Unfortunately not all parts were in stock at that time, especially the availability of the black 19/13 Monsoon Rotarys was unknown. I let the whole thing fall back a little, I had less time anyway and many things were going on. Now in January everything was in stock and I decided to order. My 25th birthday was coming, so I made myself a gift. Hardware: Case: Xigmatek Elysium PSU: Enermax MaxRevo1500 Mainboard: Asus Rampage IV Extreme CPU: Intel Core i7-3960X RAM: 4x8Gb G.Skill RipjawsZ 2133Mhz GPU: 2x Asus GTX Titan SLI Watercooling Parts: Pump: Alphacool VPP655-T12 Reservoir: Phobya Balancer 250 Radiator: Watercool Mo-Ra3 360 PRO Tubing: Masterkleer UV red 19/13mm Motherboard: EKWB RE4-Kit Acetal+Nickel CSQ CPU: Aquacomputer Cuplex Kryos HF GPU: Aquacomputer Kryographics nickelplated + Watercool backplate Everything arrived on January 10th, the only thing missing was the R4E motherboard cooling kit, which @svl7 ordered and paid as part of our PS4 deal. Thanks again. ;D On Friday the 17th everything was ready to install. As always, not everything went according to the plan, learning by doing and problem solving as usual. I removed the AX850 PSU and the H100 from the top of the case and also tried to clean the whole case a bit. After 5 hours everything was mounted in the Xigmatek Elysium case again and the system was ready for looptesting. My room looked as if a bomb had exploded. I did a looptest for almost 6 hours, checked the system afterwards and found no leak. I changed the pump to the Enermax 1500W PSU and started the machine. Temps were all good, I did a clean install of Windows 8.1 Pro, until late afternoon the system was ready for some testing. I changed back to my Logitech G19 to be able to monitor the system temps using HWinfo. (Thanks @Mumak for your amazing tool ;D). I overclocked my i7-3960X to 4.5Ghz and the two GTX Titans to 1155Mhz (core; memory stock), highest temperatures reached were 57°C for the CPU and 50°C for the GPUs with a room temperature of 19°C having the four 180mm radiator fans at minimum speed (~40% = ~300RPM) with full speed (700RPM) max temps are 5-10°C lower. FullRes: Click here Some work still needs to be done, I want to sleeve the second GPU powercable and the currently existing temporary solution has to be replaced with a proper installation. The list with parts I need is already prepared, I'll order in the next days...
  5. Hi all, i'm new here, and this is my first post. My problem is: can i mod the heatsink for change my GPU in an asus g53jw? i want to change my nVidia 460m with an 570m. I've already the 570m and this card work perfectly in the notebook, but the heatsink is not compatible. Some have mod already this component? Thanks All!!!!
  6. I don't know why ASUS would allow you to update your bios from ntfs when it bricks your laptop! I've been researching it for a few days now and it seems my only options are either RMA to ASUS or reprogram the one that's causing the issue. I've tried everything as far as removing CMOS battery for a minute to removing hard drives and RAM. Still. When I plug it back up. I get no power. No lights. Nothing. I am leaning towards buying a programmer but before I did, I was wondering if anyone else had any solutions. Thank you
  7. First of all happy new year to everybody. I was cleaning my computer on the outside and when i was cleaning near the Poewr Button i push it, the laptop started to function normally until after the Asus "Face" appear it went to a blue screen where it said Erase Flash. At that moment i panic thniking that it was going to erase mi hardrive, and i really dont know what it was going to do, and without seing anything it said on the blue screen i took the battery off and unplug the power cable when it was around the 12%. Now i want to turn on the laptop and it just doesnt work, with power cable or battery it just don start. If you know something that could help please help me cause im desperate. Thanks in advance
  8. World Exclusive Naked Asus MarsII It's done. Here's the result, two Asus MarsII cards with removed IHSs.:triumphant: The first time I did this, the process went smoothly. The heating of the IHSs using a hot air gun, has delivered great benefits. FullRes: Click here Thanks to @svl7 for providing the hot air gun
  9. So officially the Asus Maximus V Formula doesn't support Tri-SLI, just Tri-CrossfireX and SLI (2-way). The reason I guess is due to nvidia not being able to officially utilize 4x speeds (e.g. it does 8 x 8). The extreme version of the Maximus V supports tri-sli but that's about $400+ for that board. One way around it is to use a program called HyperSLI it's a simple install and click program. Just make sure you have a processor that has VT-X (although software emulation is also possible) and 2 mini bridges + 1 long bridge to connect the 3 cards. In my case, I connected 3 GTX 680 cards (2 680 SC signature 2 + 1 680 SC, all EVGA). It doesn't seem like the lack of bandwidth is hurting the performance too much in games or benchmarks on a single monitor at 2560 x 1440. 11. Asus MarsII QuadSLI Watercooled by ConkersGrillforce1337 Let's resurrect the graphic gods... Here it is, my next project, a self-designed watercooler especially for my Asus MarsII cards. Waterblock Design The existing heat sink of the Asus MarsII will be slightly modified so that the two watercoolers can be connected to the TwinConnect bridge respectively the circulation. The original look of the Asus MarsII is kept, because the design is awesome. As mentioned earlier, removing the IHSs of both GTX580s on each Asus MarsII has brought some benefits in terms of cooler design. I have been able to reduce the copper block of 1cm to 6mm, the thickness of the cover remains the same, because I want to hide the screws. The reduction of the height of the copper block makes itself felt especially in weight. Flow Simulations using Solidworks Flow Simulation 2013 (with 1000 flow lines) Stage 1: 1800RPM Stage 2: 2550RPM Stage 3: 3300RPM Stage 4: 4050RPM Stage 5: 4800RPM FullRes: Click here Hardware components Case: Xigmatek Elysium PSU: Enermax MaxRevo1500 + Corsair A850 Mainboard: Asus Rampage IV Extreme CPU: Intel Core i7-3960X RAM: 4x2Gb G.Skill RipjawsX 1866Mhz GPU: 2x Asus MarsII in QuadSLI Cooling components CPU: Corsair H100 RAM: Kingston HyperX Coolers GPU: self-designed watercooler Watercooling components Pump: Alphacool VPP655-T12 Reservoir: Phobya Balancer 250 Radiator: Watercool Mo-Ra3 360 PRO Tubing: Masterkleer 19/13mm Disassembly During the months of May and June, I got my Xigmatek Elysium case disassembled piece by piece. On one hand, it was necessary to clean the case completely after nearly two years of operation, on the other hand to get access to all the cables, which I wanted to sleeve. In addition, the mounting holes for the radiator and the reservoir had to be drilled. FullRes: Click here Sleeving + front door modding This I had never done before and it was a tedious piece of work. Two power supplies, various internal cables, pump cables, fan connectors,…everything should shine with red and black sleeving, respectively the 24pin ATX cables in red, black and silver sleeving . In addition, I removed the fan grill on the front door of the Xigmatek Elysium case and replaced it with clear plexiglass. FullRes: Click here Reassembly After the sleeving process was complete and everything was cleaned, I started the reassembly. At this time, the two MarsII waterblocks had not yet been delivered, so I installed my two GTX Titans to test the system and clean install Windows. FullRes: Click here Asus MarsII waterblocks A few days later it was time, the two water coolers were delivered. I made some checks and fortunately everything seemed to fit. In the production, there was a difference of 4/10mm in the direction of the inputs/ outlets, fortunately, this difference is not a problem provided. However, I noticed that one VRam-„isle“ was missing, I contacted Liquid-Extasy what went wrong, I have received no answer until now. This production error was also not a problem, as I still had excess 2mm pads from the rear Vrams. FullRes: Click here Looptest The time had come, the two GTX Titans were on temporary retirement. The first loop test I made with complete installation, the first test was pretty promising. Basically everything was tight after 8 hours of continuous operation of the loop except one of the two water blocks. The fact that one was dry, let me suggest that the second was not screwed on correctly. I made a second loop test with a rather unconventional installation, which was over 6 hours in operation. The result was convincing, no leaks. FullRes: Click here Let's resurrect the gods Now there was no holding back, the gods are not to rest on. I assembled both Asus MarsII cards, at the last check, I noticed that one graphics card had only partially contact between the 580 dies and the copper surface. I disassembled the card and used thermal pads instead of thermal compound as a temporary solution. I installed everything and after solving some BIOS error messages, I managed to get the system up and running. At idle, all four chips run at temperatures between 30-37 °C, that’s ok with a roomtemperature of 24°C. Under full load, the weakness of thermal pads makes massively noticeable, while the chips with MX-4 paste run at max 48°C, the chips with thermal pads heat up to 78°C. Btw, the entire system weighs 37,6kg. FullRes: Click here It's not over yet...thin copper plates are on the way to replace the thermal pads...
  12. Nvidia GTX Titan SLI or as @Brian says "Damn you Conkers!" So there it is, the real successor of the GTX580 chip, how much rumour was out there over the months. Nvidia broke my resistance, I had to buy at least one card. I managed to get two of those beasts, I know the price is ridiculous but for a triple display setup it's totally worth it. The cards are working in my Xigmatek case along with the GTX670, which is now dedicated to Physx. At the time Intel will release Haswell processors, I'll move the cards in a smaller case with an mATX board. My Xigmatek Elysium case is reserved for another project, which I will show to you at a later date, maybe by the end of this week or next week. 13. Hi again guys, I just found out that you can change the stock cd drive to a blu ray drive on the Asus g75vw, and maybe others (depending on the size of your drive). But here is the link to the drive that I found compatible, I will order it sometime soon and post a full review and how-to later on.... Asus Covers

Hey there! I am currently looking for a cover for my G75VW... Its a really nice design but I dont want it to get scratched or anything. Being a computer not that sold and compatible (design-wise) as the Macbooks, I guess there aren't any premade or in mass production, but is there any custom made? or a plastic cover for the corners or anything? Any help is extremely useful (I know there are skin and custom made skins). P.D. I'm sorry if I ask too many questions but I really have a lot of questions about my asus!

    G75VW BBK5 or 3D?

Hi there, I am currently looking at both models of the G75VW... the specs for both are almost the same, but one has 3D and the other doesn't, and the 3D version has the nvidia 670m with 3GB and the 660m has 2GB. My question is, is this difference that big for 500 extra dolars? Is the 670m actually that better with 3Gb than the 660m with to 2GB? PD: I'm very new to this and any technical errors should be ignored! [EDIT] Could a Mod or Admin move this thread to Asus Gaming Notebook Forum?
  16. I have an ASUS G50VT-X1 model (getting a little old, I know) and i was wondering exactly how and where to put a new thermal compound, and how to remove the older thermal compound. specifically I'm looking to put it on the heatsink for the graphics card unit but if i have enough I suppose i might as well replace it on the CPU as well.
  17. Hello there! I have this notebook since 2/11. Since July of this year, the screen started to go black during normal use, and a message appears telling that the an error occurred to the nvidia driver. I've tried a lot of different drivers, but the error persists. In a long playing session, when I quit the game, sometimes the screen show some artifacts, as you can see in the attached pictures. Did anyone had this problem before?! Is my Asus dying!? I'm willing to give a try on the 660M mode, but I want to make sure that this is only a vga problem that I have, not a general failure! Thanks a lot!
  18. Hi there guys, I'm looking the forums looking for any trace of information regarding the G73SW GPU upgrade. There´s some members who did some mods and upgraded their notebooks gpu as the models: g73jh, g73jw. But i dont see anyone saying that is possible to do it with the SW too. So im here asking for any information that can lead me to do it, even more what kind of cards works on sw, links for bioses and so on. I love my g73sw but here in Brazil, notebooks and even parts cost like 3 times the normal value (taxes and so on).... So please if anyone can help me out i'll be glad and i will spread the word that this works here. What i'm looking here is veridic information, not some gossip bout we can/can´t do it.... I have ready $600 to spend on it and if it goes wrong... (im screwed) I love my SW and dont want to let him get outdated and i dont have the money to buy an alienware or a sager. anyways thanks for your time guys!!!
  19. I know it's pretty old, but I hope my old laptop can get some more love. The bios is attached here. Hopefully someone can look at it and see what is possible. Thanks! G53JWAS211.zip
  20. Did anyone know that hd 7970m works on Asus G73jh ? 3dmark vantage: Here 3dmark 11 : here im sorry if I have posted in wrong section , I posted because M15x supports whatever g73 supports.
  21. So yeah I am having a performance issue with my laptop. Every time I play games the fps is going "wild" it drops from 100 fps to 48 and does it the whole gaming time and I have done everything to fix it but none of them have worked for me and then one of your members suggested me to use a program called throttle stop 3.0 but I don't have no idea how to use it so help would appreciated and tips what's causing this trouble

  23. Here's the official disassembly guide for the Asus G73 (JH, JW, ...). It shows all the necessary steps to take apart the system. When you do it several times you'll see that there are faster ways than just following each step, but it's a great help anyway. In case you need some specific pictures (more detailed than in the guide), let me know, I'll see what I can do. I still have some of the pictures I took while disassembling the G73JW.
