SMART is a health test for the disk, I have run all sort of tests and everything seems to be fine. Its a 64bit OS and the drivers are up to date and fine. It seems when the disk is being used by more than one process they all get 0.1Mb/s or a bit more, I'm beginning to think that this is a normal behavior in w8? The only thing left I could do is install w7, do a factory reset again and not installing any drivers and perform some tests without them, assume this is normal behavior and live with it, or get an SSD. I just performed a clean installation of the w8 OS and installed the latest drivers and also all the windows updates but for some reason my disk shows 0.1Mb/s transfer rate for certain processes like "System". I have searched and a few people have also encountered this issue does someone knows why this happens? I have an S15 with an HDD 7200rpm & 700GB its a bit annoying because in some games it takes forever to load with the 0.1Mb/s issue. Maybe changing the performance for background processes will help? I have also run the smart test and everything is ok, startup speed is ok, disk check reported no issues, I defragmented the drive also and now I am running the Vaio care test for HDDs and system is again with the 0.1Mb/s showing 100% usage of the disk but I am running other applications fine. I honestly don't know what else to do maybe this behavior is normal? please help.

Hello everyone I own a Vaio S15 and I still have not tried the docking station, but it would be nice to have it. I was wondering what is the other port in the back of the laptop because the docking station connects with one but I don't know what is the other port for, do you guys know? Does the GPU becomes unstable if I overclock it higher than 1000/1000 ? Is this possible?

I bought the converter it should be at home any time soon, I also wanted to give you guys a link of the software/ hardware that comes with the pc regarding the audio which is Intel® High Definition Audio, Dolby® Home Theater® v4, xLOUD, Clear Phase. Dolby Home Theater v4 Dolby Home Theater v4 PC Audio Intel HD Audio Intel® High Definition Audio It clearly says it's 7.1 capable and that it also creates 5.1 or 7.1 sound from any two-channel input, will the converter I linked work at all? or does it need a converter with 8 channels to get the real 7.1 and not 2 channels? I am very confused :/

Hello guys I am also an S15 owner and I am very pleased with the PC but I'm having some difficulties with the sound output. I bought astro a50 headset which are capable of 7.1 output and the sound card built in the S15 can also output 7.1, the problem is that the PC does not come with an optical port and thats the only way for the headset to get 7.1. I did some research and there's the possibility of converting the 3.5mm output to digital sound with a little box for about $20. Do you guys think this method will work? why did Sony made the S15 with a good sound card but with no capabilities of 7.1 output? Got any ideas? thanks in advanced.

Hello guys I'm new to the forum and I've been reading about overclocking the S15(SVS151290X) R0081C8 80.07.4A.00.06(bios) and I'm very interested to do it and to keep gaining knowledge on this subject since I'm also doing a research paper on my computer arquitecture course. Correct me if I'm wrong but right now there is no bios mod for my current pc configuration? I was about to flash the 950Mhz bios mod with the InsydeFlash but as I kept reading this thread it does not work with the newest versions of the S series which have windows8? I just got a bit confused can I flash it or do I have to wait for the bios mod svl7 is currently working on? btw this community is great, I'm learning lots & lots! thank you
