  1. @Ivxy Okay so since the red LED is staying on, your saying its not getting enough power? My PSU is 305W with 18A max on the +12V rail. I've heard that more current is suggested for this card, but I thought it would still run anyways, just maybe have a hard time running at high performance. My laptop has never detected it if that is what you are asking, but I was able to get it detected on a friend's X230T but it wouldn't detect any monitors attached to it. I don't have any other ExpressCard equipment to test the slot, but I could try to borrow one. I've just been assuming it works because the PE4L LEDs will light up when only attached to the laptop and not the PSU.
  2. @Ivxy Now the red LED has been staying on all the time. Also I'm having a hard time understanding what you are saying about the red LED. I checked the BIOS settings, ExpressCard was already set to Automatic. I tried booting a few times with the new sw settings and even tried plugging in at different times but it still hasn't been detected yet.
  3. @Ivxy My bios is 1.37. With SW1 at 3 and the ExpressCard not plugged in, the green and orange come on and the red blinks on when turning on or off and the fan turns on, but fairly slow and quiet. I changed SW1 to 1 and the lights are the same, and the fan spins a lot faster (This scared me so I haven't left in on for that long at a time). If the ExpressCard is plugged in, the red light is on all the time (in addition the green and orange) and the fan is slow and quiet. I have not changed any bios settings yet, but last time I looked I didn't see any ExpressCard options. I could have been looking at the wrong section though. Also I plugged it into my friends X230T yesterday and it recognized the card, but didn't detect any monitors attached to it.
  4. Hello all, I tried hooking up my setup today. Lenovo x220T, GTX 660, PE4L 2.1b, and some old 250W PSU. So far all I get is the GPU fan turning on. I've tried updating bios and turning it on at different times during startup, but nothing has gotten it working so far. I remember seeing a while back that some people needed to change a bios setting, but I don't remember what it was. Also I have the eGPU software from HIT, but I'm not too sure how to use it. The only other relevant solution I saw was changing the jumper settings since it might not be getting 3.3V, but I don't see any jumpers, just SW1 and SW2 (unless these are the jumpers) which are both defaulted to the 2-3 position. I didn't want to mess with the switches without knowing its the correct thing to change. Anyways, does anyone have an idea what the problems is? I'm kind of a noob at this so it could be a very simple mistake. Thanks in advance.
  5. Thank you both for the help. I got my order fixed and I'm getting the PE4L 2.1b and GTX 660. I'll post my results in the experiences thread, hopefully all goes well!
  6. Oh wow! I completely misread that post (the main thread about how to do this)! I've contacted the company to try and cancel my order (It was late Friday so I don't think they've processed/shipped anything yet). So once I get the correct kit, even the 3.0 card will work? Just at 2.0 speeds?
  7. Thanks for the quick response! Prices I've found recently were 570 - $270-300, 660 - $200-220, and 660Ti - $300. And the benchmarks AnandTech | Bench - GPU12, favor the 660 in most cases. Sounds like I'll go with the 660 then. Just one last thing, the 660 is pci-express 3.0, while the 570 is 2.0. This shouldn't be a problem though, right? (PE4H kit that I bought is this PE4H (PCIe passive adapter ver2.4))
  8. Sorry for bumping this thread (2 weeks isn't too bad, right?), but I'm about to set up an eGPU for my Lenovo x220T (i7-2620M, 8GB ram) also. The last thing I need to do is choose my graphics card. I've seen other people (on other sites) saying they've used a GTX 570 and it worked well, but it wasn't listed in this thread. This was the card I was looking at as the benchmarks seemed significantly higher the the 550/560/560Ti. Is there a reason any of you did not suggest this card? I'm going to assume that it would be limited with an ExpressCard eGPU setup (I don't remember what its called, 1.1Opt or 1.2Opt due to sandy bridge processor). If this is the case, would it be limited to the point that the upgrade really isn't worth it over the 560Ti? Thank you.
