Made it to the flashing part, but when trying to flash I now get the following error: Error 28: Protected Range Registers are currently set by BIOS, preventing flash access. please contact the target system BIOS vendor for an option to disable Protected Range Re1gisters. Any advise?

Hi I get the below error message when attempting to backup the existing bios - even though I am running as administrator. "Error 284: Failed to load driver (PCI access for Windows)"

Has anyone experienced any problems with the hacked bios?

My old thinkpad had a matte sceen whereas my new ideapad y500 has a glossy screen. I really enjoy the new glossy screen although I can start to see why so many people are bothered by the reflections. Time will tell whether I will become just as annoyed.

I heard the same, just cant remember from where.

I also bought the y500 and love it save for the annoying whitelist/bios. It is amazing that Lenovo locks up their customers in this manner.

I can recommend the y500 - great value and it really packs a punch.
