I didn't see anything on the first page of this thread about running a command prompt(in the instructions)? -

Well I didn't get too far. The first step is to create a backup of the bios using the backup.bat batch file. I got an error that the file had to be executed as an administrator. Run as the administrator solved the error message but it did not create the required backup. -

I'm holding off on flashing... still a little nervous. -
What's the best budget laptop ($700) range

Thank svl7. I was a huge AMD fan back when their CPU's were competitive with the Intel CPU's and it looks like AMD's APU solution is a good design alternative/idea. I think my son wants to stick with Asus because I have a g75vw and his older brother has an Asus laptop (with the Intel HD graphics). -
My son wants a new laptop for mild gaming and he is currently looking at a K55 asus model with the i7 processor and Intel HD video. There was recently a sale on another asus model with the amd a8 apu which had a higher graphics rating on windows experience index. We are in Canada so suggestions from our market would be helpful. tx

svl7, just a quick question about this statement... do the modified bios' here cause any grief if I want to do a clean install on my system with the modded bios? I've found that I can do a clean install using the windows8 DVD and my system is activated upon startup showing an AAOEM at the end of the product ID. tx LBJGH

I'm surprised a few of you guys are talking about trying to replace the gpu on a $1400 laptop. Would a modded bios or 680 make that much difference in gaming or is this more about "doing it because you can?"
