So it worked! Sweet. With the flash I did this does the 660M overclock right? Is there anything else I need to do? Thanks so much!

LOL, ok... so after bricking this bad boy I just got my laptop fixed and returned back from Lenovo. From Windows 8 X64 running DX Diagnostic tool, it says I have version InsydeH20 Version 03.71.515DCN40WW (V2.07) I downloaded [Y580][Y480]-'unlocked_BIOS'_660mGHzEdition_WhitelistMod, extracted it, and ran InsydeFlash.exe as admin and I receive the following error. "The version of the rom file isn't newer than version of bios." I hit OK and the program closes. Now what? Thanks for all your help thus far svl7. I'm a noob lol =) - - - Updated - - - nevermind, found this.

Well looks like I'm mailing in to Lenovo to get it fixed =( unless someone else has an idea. Now, when i get it back, will flashing this bios put me on the v8.0x firmware? How do I know which version to flash? 8.0, 8.01, 2.0x, etc. I'm guessing since this bricked that means I was on the 2.0x bios? Thanks!

crap, probably not. Any advice? Edit: Found another guy who did the same thing, trying your advice you gave him. Will report back. - - - Updated - - - trying the fn +b method the system did not turn on on it's own. I held it for about a minute or 2 and now it's just chain beeping from the PC speaker... any advice? Edit: ok So I'm retarded even more so. It started beeping for a while, then I unplugged it, like a moron instead of waiting for it to reboot., now it won't turn on at all =( Did I brick it? is there any way to get it to turn back on?
-
Well I got it to flash successfully.. but now when I turn it on it just stays on and shows a black screen.... any ideas?
-
oh wow. Give me a sec, I see the retarded thing I did =/

Thanks for the help, but I did read that. Here is the error I am getting from DOS from running this file. http://forum.techinferno.com/attachments/general-notebook-discussions/5935d1359986854-fpt_dos.zip Reading HSFST Register... Flash Descriptor: valid ---Flash Devices Found--- EN25Q32B ID: 0x1c3016 ..... W25Q16BV ID: 0xEF4015..... Error 104: the 2 SPI Flash Devices do not have compatible command sets.

I did man... I told you the errors I got.
-
So any ideas for what those of us with Windows 8 x64 can do to install this?
-
I am still not understanding you. So you are saying this bios update should or should NOT be run daily safely?
-
So is this dangerous to run? I mean obviously flashing a bios is, but I mean once it's working? Or can the system handle it easily without artifacting/overheating?
-
Has anyone else noticed this problem?
-
Could you explain for me what this firmware replacement does for the GPU that software can't do? Thanks!
-
hmm... yikes! I have no idea then. Anyone else know?

Have you tried re-flashing outside of windows?
