  1. I got the flex VID down to 0 with a completely stable four core 4.2 overclock and overclocked the memory to 2133. Temps rarely exceed at 85 degrees with full benchmarking on 3d mark 11. My score jumped from P11476 to P14217 with the overclocks and a graphics overclock of 980/1150. I am very happy with the results!
  2. @Khenglish I managed to successfully flash the bios and vbios on my M18xr2 and I am experimenting with the VID and multipliers as you stated. I have 4X4GB of the 1866 Kingston Ram. What timings and voltage do you suggest for a 2133 overclock or alternatively at the stock 1866 advertised speed?
  3. Thank you @Robbo and @Mr. Fox. I managed to successfully flash an unlocked A10 Bios and a new vbios for each of my 680m cards. I went without a hitch thanks to the tutorials provided by @svl7. I'll be honest I was sweating throughout the process but it was smooth sailing all the way through the end. I want to thank you guys for helping this noob haha. I will be trying out the clocks and seeing if everything is stable with controllable temps. I am currently running on 4.2 on all cores without a hitch. After I play around with some clocks I'll give you guys a heads up on my progress! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Update: I have my Flex VID set to 0, a four core 4.2 overclock on the cpu, a 2133 RAM overclock, and 980/1150 graphics clocks on the 680m SLI config. Temps are rarely above, if ever above 85 degrees in 3d mark 11 benchmarking. Graphics card 0 max is 66 degrees, and card 1 max at 74. My score jumped from P11476 to P14217! Things are looking good and even more performance can be squeezed out with the dual psu mod once i put it together this week.
  4. I wouldn't be restricted to this version: Dell 680m - 80.04.5B.00.02_'OCedition'_revised_00.zip based on my current vbios? the ID is what I'm looking at that's confusing me
  5. What Dell vbios should I download if I want to attain 915 core (958 boost)/ 1125 memory for my 680m SLI config? I want it to be stable under load while controlling temps. My current vbios is below: Also I plan on flashing an unlocked A10 bios and doing the dual 330w psu mod this week. Any help would be appreciated, you guys are awesome!
  6. Thank you Mr. Fox! I am getting all the pieces together and I should have it done this weekend when I have more free time. I think I am going to go for the hard-wired version. Would it be overkill if I used this all aluminum project box instead in combination with the cpu heatsink? Aluminum Project Enclosure : Project Boxes | RadioShack.com
  7. Would this get me a rock solid, 24/7 4.2 overclock on all four cores to use without incurring instability and high temps once I unlock my A10 bios?: 3940XM CPU OverClocking Feature: Enable Non-Turbo Flex Support: Disabled Extreme Edition: Enable Level 1-3 Overclocking: Level 3 Core 1 Ratio Limit: 42 Core 2 Ratio Limit: 42 Core 3 Ratio Limit: 42 Core 4 Ratio Limit: 42 Flex VID Override: 15 Override Turbo Settings: Enable Long Duration PWR Limit: 99 Long Duration TimeWindow: 56 Short Duration PWR Limit: Enable Short Duration PWR Limit: 99 Bus Clock Current Frequency 100MHz New Frequency in 10KHz increments = 100 Memory Overclocking: Memory Override Support = Enable Memory Voltage = 1.65 volts Memory Frequency = 2133 DIMM Profile (XMP) = custom pri plane 976 c states disabled Along with these setting changes I will have a custom vbios and plan on having 915 core (958 boost)/ 1125 memory for my 680m SLI config and using the dual 330w psu mod after I build it. I want to get a nice performance boost with manageable temps utilizing core clocks from the GTX670 and GTX 660 Ti without being starved for power. What are your guys' thoughts?
  8. Hi Mr. Fox I am a new member and I have been looking for ways to unlock the potential of my Alienware laptop just as many on this forum have. I want to complete this dual 330w psu mod, flash an unlocked A10 bios, and flash a vbios for my 680m SLI all in that order. I have been to many of the posts within this thread and others to understand the process for each of the above. I am new to overclocking and my M18xR2 is my first gaming laptop so I'm sorry ahead of time for my ignorance on this forum and many others while I travel down this well beaten path. I have a few questions regarding the dual psu mod: 1. Does it matter what heatsink is used on the case? I have an old Thermaltake Volcano 7+ cup heatsink I was planning on using for this mod. 2. Is there a recommended length for stripping the wires to expose them for modification within the electronic project box? 3 Where did you find out how to create the Y-adapter for the ATX extensions? 4. Looking at post #63 would you recommend remaining with the hard wired version of the dual psu mod or for the v2 plug in revision? Again I apologize for my ignorance, I'm trying to learn all of this hitting the ground running.
