  1. Hi Svl7, I am still not able to backup my bios. I have not attempted it for a while (had given up) now I came back to it because my network speeds are horrible with this stupid stock wifi card. I was able to do it before but then had to ship my laptop into Lenovo because the hard drive controller fried out. When I got my laptop back they had replaced the mother board with a similar one and I attempted to hack the bios again this time with no luck. Whe I did everything like the instructions stated and now came across a new error. I got ERROR 360: Invalid Block Erase Size value in "fparts.txt". I have no idea what to do next. Any ideas? Thank you, Update I am back to getting Error 103 again!
  2. I did a bunch of random stuff. There was some post somewhere in the tread that spoke of pressing the power button as you connect power.

So remove the battery >>>Plug in the USB Stick with DOS and PRR.... all the flashing goodies into the same port that was used to flash previously>>>> wait like 30 seconds >>> hold down the power button >>>> and reconnect power.

That caused my computer to boot and i immediately pressed f12 >>> booted into DOS and reflashed my backup.

To check to see if the flash works the test that I used was check the keyboard light shortcut. If you press the fn plus I think it is spacebar key the keyboard lights should turn off /on if they are working your flash was successful from what I remember. If it does not work after your flash do not shutdown again. USE CTRL ALT DEL to shut down / restart and retry!

Good luck. I don’t know if it will work for you it worked for me.

  3. Yes I did. Then I would get Error 104. Both Fparts files did not work. I did not want to flash the fixed file that i had created from the other motherboard because it may cause issues. Thanks, - - - Updated - - - Hi Guys, To test what f-parts file worked. Just make a new backup! This time remember what fparts file worked to create the backup and use the same fparts file again to flash. Sometimes one file works other times the other works. This way you will know what file works for you for sure!
  4. I am getting Error 103 also. The hard drive controller on my laptop went out and I had to ship it back to lenovo to replace the main board. Once i got it back i attempted to reflash the bios as I had done so previously. I can not get past the backing up of the current bios due to ERROR 103: There are no supported SPI flash devices installed..... Is there a new FParts file?
  5. Hey how did you get past the blank screen for the y480? I'm in that boat now

  6. IT WORKED!!!! The problem was my USB stick. When I was applying the fix I noticed that it took a long time. Then i created another flash drive /usb stick with the format tool and applied the fix while the files were on my computer and not the usb stick. I copied everything back and it works! The white list fix works perfectly. I was able to install another Wi-Fi card that I had laying around and am typing this from my lenovo wirelessly. Thank you so much.
  7. Yes same exact file size. Yes i was able to flash v801 before. I am going to try another USB stick. I am doing a full format to see if that helps. Also in the bios there is a setting for "BIOS Back Flash" do you think that has anything to do with it?
  8. I currently have a lenovo y580 with bios version 5DCN89WW (V8.00) I attempted the 8.00 bios flash and received the following error when attempting to flash the fixed bin bios file. Error 246: Failed to read the entire file into memory. File: v800fix.bin
  9. Agreed do not attempt to update from 8.00 to 8.01. It will cause major boot up problems. I did it on accident and had a really hard time recovering and re flashing v8.00 back. Svl7 did you get my 8.00 bios dump? Would that be enough to unlock the bios and remove the white list? My wifi internet is driving me crazy lol.
  10. Thank you SVl7, I have sent you my original BIOS Dump via email. Thank you so much. Take care,
  11. I feel so stupid. I had bios version V8.00 5DCN89WW . How do i get V8.01? Thank you,
  12. It only boots as long as i dont shut the system down completely. I sent you a PM-Email that contains a BIOS Dump if you want to look at it. Otherwise its ok. I just sucks how it works for everyone else lol. Thanks for everything so far! - - - Updated - - - I do have a SSD installed?
  13. I attempted to flash the v801fix.rom once again and i am running into the same bootup problems. Here i the info from the info.txt file you requested: Intel ® Flash Programming Tool. 14. When I attempt to flash the V801Fix.rom file I get the following errors: First in DOS I get: PDR Region does not exist. GBE REgion does not exist. Then I get Error 25: The host CPU does not have write access to the target flash area. To enable write access for this operation you must modify the descriptor settings to give host access to this region.
