  1. So, my forgiveness for asking what i fear to be a stupid question.. I am currently running my 680M on the Clevo 680m - 80.04.67.00.01 bios, and have two questions: 1) Right now in windows, no matter what i try to change, the GPU stays running at 758. Even after reboots, it doesn't seem to back down to power saving clocks. Of course, this means it idles around 50, and does add a bit of fan noise when i don't need it. More so, i am worried about burning out the card (my wife's Alienware 580M died despite no overheating or overclocking). Is this a setting i may have changed somewhere, or... ? 2) At the same time, i noticed that many games seem to barely get over 50-60% GPU utilization, depite framerates dropping to 30-40 at times. I suspect this is a product of my CPU and the games, but can't hurt to ask in general...
  2. Quick question - any reason why you aren't going higher on the memory? I have seen so many other posters talking about going +400-600, and i have gamed with no problem at +500. This is a Clevo card.. does that make any difference?
  3. As a fellow MWO player, i will say it is just down to crappy coding. PGI has no clue what they are doing, and just keep botching the game. Do not judge performance of your system based on it..
  4. I guess being able to tweak that is out of the realm of possibility?
  5. Ah, i could see that.. Thanks!
  6. Sure - where gaming before could push it to say, 83-84, now it has peaked at 90 (same overclocks, clean air vents)...
  7. So, i went ahead and flashed it last night.. and while it does feel more responsive, I can't help but feel my GPU is running hotter (unless i FN+9 it). Can any tweaks be made to the fan speeds (i know this is an EC function)? I would kill for fan control in Afterburner, but no such luck..
  8. well.. knowing i could flash back makes it better. The reseller is PowerNotebooks, but given that i should be able to flash back, perhaps it isn't much of an issue either way. Besides, i love the idea of better performance..
  9. So, quick question - i love getting all teh performance i can, but admittedly, warranty is still somewhat of an issue for me. From what i understand, once i flash to a Clevo bios on my 9170, it is very very difficult to go back to a Sager bios. Is it the same with this bios? Perhaps more importantly, is it even worth worrying about should i ever need warranty (will they look at it and deny me, or not care)?
  10. Hmm.... kinda frustrating to hear - i have already repasted (using Antec Formula 7), and in gaming i will hit 83-85 peak (MechWarrior Online), with +162/+250 (but letting the system control the fan.. haven't tried the dust buster mode yet....). This is on a 170EM... Ok, so i hit the fans to full speed (Fn+1), and the temps never peaked above 76 with the same clocks. Arg.. what i wouldn't give for fan control in afterburner...
  11. Hey - my 170EM has a bios of 4.6.5 (According to CPU-Z). I used the 5.127 version of NVFlash. Pretty much just followed this guide: http://forum.techinferno.com/general-notebook-discussions/2166-%5Bguide%5D-nvidia-vbios-flashing.html#post28018
  12. What laptop? I have a Clevo 170EM, and can still flash in DOS (this system does have optimus)..
  13. Those temps look great. What temps are you getting in games? Doing more pushing personally, and gaming has yeilded a max of 85C (without the fans in full boost - Clevo 170EM)... higher than i would like, but i know still within limits (clocks at 915/2150)...
  14. This was sustained MechWarrior Online, and the 81 was a peak (average closer to 79 or 80). As it is, I still may redo it eventually, as I used some older shin etsu paste I had leftover. I am thinking some IC Diamond might get anther degree or 3..
