  1. Hi, I found out about this game yesterday, and noticed it is available as an open beta, and what more... its free to play I wondered if anyone has had a chance to try this on the M14x R1? What graphics settings can I expect to be running the game, average FPS? I will hopefully be trying this game in the next few days and post some updates of what I find. I will be interested if others are getting similar performance.
  2. Has anyone managed to make note of like for like comparisons in benchmarks and game performance between Window 7 and Windows 8, FPS, load times etc. I have heard from a lot of people that their gaming performance is impaired after updating to Windows 8. How true is this statement on the M14x R1 with the GT555M graphics?
  3. I performed a repaste job on my M14x last night. I used the Akasa AK-455 paste, the job was performed using the pea sized dot method on the GPU and a vertical line of paste across the CPU. I have run a number of benchmarks and the following results are shown for the temperature :- Idle :- 42 - 46 degrees C benchmarking :- 75 - 80 degrees C I noticed on an odd occassion that the CPU reached 94 degrees C, according to RealTemp software. But I wonder if this is a glitch in the sensor reading / software?
  4. Does anyone know what part numbers would need to be ordered for the M14x R1 upgrade to R2 motherboard. Will I need to make any body modifications ( similar to what is required on the M18x if the user opts to use an msata drive)?
  5. I use a steelseries headset siberia v2 which is comfortable, has good base quality and the sound is clear. The mic on it is decent, however, you might want to get a separate mic which is better quality if you are really fussy about it.
  6. The cooler I use is a normal cooler that has a bit of a tilt that lifts the laptop up. This is used on my Alienware 14x and works fine for me, it keeps it cooler by a couple of degrees.
  7. Hi, I use a razor imperator and I set my DPI at 1800, my screen size is 1920 by 1080. This is customised for Starcraft 2 with the use of the macro buttons.
  8. Glossy screens are harder to see in direct sunlight, but produce a much sharper picture and more vibrant colours. Mat screens are easy to see in bright lights, it depends if you intend to use your laptop outdoors.
