I love my alienwares M17x R4, M14x R2 M11x R1 BUT!! Technical support is TERRIBLE!!! It took a month to get a working M17x R4. After I received my system with a blown speaker they sent out a non dell tech that forgot to put screws back in. I know my way around computers but I figured since I just bought the thing they should fix it... Bad Idea! They sent me a replacement system That wouldn't even boot and was scratched and dented to all heck... (do they check these things?). So I fixed my original myself. They never did pay me for my work like they promised... 30 plus hours on the phone with tech support (mostly on hold). I kept a record after the first week. I only found 1 guy that wasn't rude. I will never buy a alienware directly from dell again. I ended up selling my M17x after I fixed it up. That being said All of my alienwares have been of good quality besides some complaints (non matching ram, grill flex) little things. As long as the price is right my next upgrade after my m14x R2 become obsolete will be a alienware.

I would have bought a M11x R4 or a m12x over my m14x r2 if they had them. I would rather my laptop be slimmer without a dvd/blueraydrive than with one... but that could just be me

For a gaming rig its glossy all the way! But for a travel/work laptop that is needed outside and in bright areas then matte. Not all screens are created equal. some matte screens are better for gaming that cheap glossy ones.

I have always tried to buy Nvidia but my last 4 computers have been ati/amd based. The price for performance is just not there when comparing Ati/Amd to Nvidia. I just bought a m17x r4 and had to go with the 7970m because of the price difference to the 680m. $550 vs $200 (when i bought it) for not much of an improvement... pity really... Oh well I guess I have no loyalties to either company so its always price performance for me now. But AMD/ATI has just been on top of there game lately. Like the old days though if you want top notch best of the best its Nvidia Intel combo.

I just got my M17x r4 last night and I love the power house! But for whatever reason none of the modified Vbios work for me. I get either a bsod or a not enough memory error. Tested with bf3. My original vbios says 118 instead of 117. Thats never been a problem in the past with other cards though. Oh well, thanks for your hard work!
