[Mod] Voltage increase Nvidia GT 555M
Silent8Strike replied to n3ocort3x's topic in Alienware M14x / AW 14
Before I give this a try, can I ask what the difference between the Unlocked version of the BIOS is, compared to the other? ( M14xR1_A08_[unlocked]_voltmod_incl_GF116_&_SATA_fix.zip vs M14xR1_A08_voltmod_incl_GF116_support_&_SATA_fix.zip) Thanks for the work in making these modded BIOS files as well. -
Alienware M14xR1 Memory Support?
Silent8Strike replied to jonathanslam's topic in Alienware M14x / AW 14
For certain users I could see an improvement from 16GB of RAM, but honestly for most people I think a higher speed 8GB set would be more than enough. I got a set of Kingston 2x4GB 1866 MHz on sale from Newegg that I have been very happy with. I've noticed the system is a bit snappier and it seems to boot faster as well. -
When I repasted my M14X I used some Arctic Cooling MX-2 paste I had left over from my desktop. It worked well for both my desktop and my laptop, and I'm satisfied with the results. I wish Dell had used a second vent and fan when they designed the laptop, but there is nothing we can do about it now.

With my R1 I have always run 760 core/1170 memory without issue, using MSI Afterburner as the overclock tool. This is without any BIOS mods either. I think that the overclock is more important today than ever considering the age of the GT 555M, and is almost necessary playing the newest games.

I am wondering if this would be possible as well. Even if it did work I'm sure Dell would be charging a fairly high price for it as a separate part.
