  1. KICK.......@SS!!! Yeah, i forgot about SLI certs.... Did anybody find a solution for that?
  2. Are you serious?? You crossed the R2 power limit and could push the XM CPU and 2x 100W PCI-E cards?? How did you make this work? The known problem with the 330W(ID) mod has made me not want to mod a M18x PSU to suit a 2nd 680m. People at NBR would also like to know You just used iamsolidstate's steps or have you figured out a few extra steps to get where you are? http://www.imsolidstate.com/archives/1162
  3. That's some next gen benefits for ya http://www.3dmark.com/compare/3dm11/6295868/3dm11/6772950 @Brian: i posted a topic about not being able to OC much on my water cooled SLI set here, would you care to look at it and give me some pointers ? p.s. Kick ass run on that second post.
  4. Hi guys, I just finished setting up my Water cooled SLI setup. It's made up of 2 reference GTX 680 card's: Zotac ID 0 EVGA ID 1 I used the same waterblock on both so i know for sure that they are a match as far as the reference part is concerned. They are both 2GB versions and have the same clock settings (GPU-Z) So here's the thing: When i overclock the cards individually they have an awesome reach of 1303MHZ on the core and +400 on MEM. This is something i almost never run on but it can do Battlefield 3 on 2560x1440 with everything max (duh..) @100fps. When i overclock in SLI, i can see the boost clock mess's things up (Meter), the slave card boosts lower and there for uses lower voltages and so it crashes almost immediately. I can't even slide the Core + 40Mhz in AfterBurner or the cards crash.... So i used kgb on the BIOS (xxxx.rom) and used nvflash to flash the new bios (1.212v) and even then i still really can't get a high clock. I customized some bios's in a multitude of variations and it never really is stable beyond stock.. Help? Ps. This also posted under the water cooling section but i was not sure where this topic belongs, there is no real overclocking thread which i can find

  6. What is so special about Prema's bios? (aside from the fact that i just tops the 1.025v)
  7. I use it for my Zotac 680. Works perfect. I have my whole setup under water. I see that some vram are not covered by the full cover water block and are showing deterioration signs of the higher voltage. This tool won't work on mobile cards. Different clocks, different settings. Mobile safe range is v1.050. Desktop safe range is v1.210 Sent from my iPhone.
  8. Hehe, naw, i was just making reference to our setup scores (single gpu) Sent from my iPhone.
  9. Hm, is this a preliminairy score? Me using the 1st gen i7 and you using the 3rd gen. I would expect much higher values from you rig...? Sent from my iPhone.
  10. well there is a pretty big difference click on the links in my signature to see the differences.....the 680m may cost more, it also has WAY more potential. It's like a BMW 3.28i that gets a turbo charger to get BMW M3 power... So what happens when the BMW M3 gets a turbo charger
  11. You have to use the latest version of nvflash (5.127), any older version will not recognise the 680m. The hp flash tool in the first post has the Windows 98 DOS files/folder for the DOS commandline functions. You dont need to copy the files themselfs manually because that will mess the usb key's boot sequence and actually try to boot basic function from DOS and that is not what you are looking for. Just format the usb key with the selected folder and you are done. you wont be able to see the files manually as they are flagged as forced hidden system files but if you leave the key in the laptop and reboot, it will work. at this stage you just copy the (blablaname)bios.rom and nvflash tool and you should be good to go.
  12. Offcourse the names in the EXAMPLE are not the real names... Use the name of the bios that you downloaded and are you using for this mod....how would the author know what version of Bios everybody would be using??....or you could rename you bios to match the TUTORIAL EXAMPLE but that would leave you clueless if you wanted to know what bios version you have on your disk
  13. I want to overclock my Dell 2GB 680m. I see allot of Vbios zip's, but how do i know which one is right for me? I have a M17x R2 with A10 modded Bios. When i use the X64 version of Nvflash (5.100.0.1) and i want to save the original bios, it says:" No NVIDIA dispaly adapter found" I am using the 310.90 drivers. Ty for your time. Sent from my iPhone. EDIT: fixed. Nvflash was too old. now to figure out how to keep the gpu temp below 90 degrees c.
  14. Well as it turns out, it was a hoax....the card was scratched and crap and yet he ensisted that i by his card. So i told him to back off....he didn't listen so i snapped his card 2 times. He was so shocked so i left him with his rubbish
  15. Well, having the 4870m i am used to modding the installer files i would have to find the vendor code but i would find that odd sinds the 7970m is already supported by the catalyst. Uninstalling would not hurt indeed so i'll do that. if it does boot but can't install i'll ask StamatisX for help (y). Well people it's 23:35 in my timeline so i beter get drunk and try to not blow myself up! best wishes for and i will report back my findings after wensday.
  16. Thanks for your answers Brian. I will get the card on wensday, and take my laptop with me to test the card. Is there anything in particular i should be doing? I'll deinstall Sapphire Trixx and it's profile and i'll reset all settings in CCC (maybe even the 4870x2 via the device manager) before installing the card I now have the 4870mx2 with the 12.6 CCC drivers, so it should be plug and play? ( sounds to good to be true ) Are these steps neccesery?
  17. Ok thanks (then now i understand why he thought up de 2x 240W concept ) I'd like to thank you Brian for your answers. May i ask what the Dell bios does or what it used for? Just for bios overclocking?...i heard something about no hdmi or fan support. Either way i will let you guys know what happens
  18. Are you sure? Isnt there a huge drama about the differences between clevo and dell? isnt that why some resellers don't supply/sell Clevo cards to Dell users and vice versa? If that is the case then the "brand" would not matter when advertising the card... i really want to be sure about this..
  19. I wanted to buy the Cryo LX but that thing seems more like urban legend then anything else It's so scares to find so i bought the NC-3000U also. The upside: It's cheap compared to the other " high end" notebook coolers. The bottom of the fan casing is just perforated, so the big fan can't get cought on anything. It can fit on you lap with the 5,5kg on it....but how long will you do that exersise so i have it on my desk....the big fan just whispers and is fan speed adjustable......although i don't a shred of difference between the lowest and highest setting. It has a grip (rubber everywhere) like vicegrip and weighs nearly nothing. It has extra usb ports so that also is a big plus. The downside: The big fan is the only fan and cannot be re-positioned so there is no real airflow in my 2 gpu intakes on the bottom. All in all its a nice notebook cooler
  20. Hello, Since i am new to this forum and not pretty sure how to get my question answered the fastest way, i decided to make a double post so sorry if i offended anyone... I am pressed for time because i am able to make use of a small window of oppertunity to purchase a Clevo AMD for €200,- but i own a Alienware M17x R2 and i want to use this card for my laptop!! An acquaintance of mine bought a AMD 7970m from Eurocom to use in a Clevo P170EM but it does not seem to work. He has a BTO P170EM and i guess that the difference in bios would be the bad guy here. He offered the card to me for €200,00 if i wanted it, but i have a Alienware M17x R2 and it would NOT be plug and play. So my question is: Is it even possible to flash to Clevo 7970 to an Alienware 7970..? I have read some forums where it as where others say that it cannot... I hope someone here can tell me if it can or cannot be done. I found also several threads here that state, that it CAN be done.....i just need to find the right vBIOS for my Alienware M17x R2....make a bootable usb stick....use the forced command line fucntion and it should be done??...... Please help
