In my case i had to remove the battery and replace it, then remove the discrete card (7970m) and switch it on to boot. Went to BIOS and switched it to PEG, after which i shut it down again and placed back the discrete card, and boot. Hope this helps anyone out there stuck with a black screen on boot!
