gtx 980m on M17x, can it work?

I've installed a 980m on an Alienware 17 R1 from 2013/14. You have to disable legacy boot options in the BIOS and only use UEFI. I had no problem installing modded drivers. Unfortunately it doesn't work very well. The 980m has about a 1/3 of the performance of the 780m. I am hoping flashing the vbios will solve that...
