Well if you are really on a budget and only need to do this for sequencing you could get a Dual CPU motherboard (88 dollar) and have two 12 core Xeon processors (66 dollar) do the job with 24 cores and 48 threads. But do check it's the correct cpu socket versions so you get the right board. Hi, Well I don't know the exact problem with the ID, but if you can't get help and get it fixed you might just need to get a soic8 programmer with a test clip and program the chip directly that way. Also have you edited the bios file in any way? If so did you remember to recalculate the hash for the edited bios file?

It might not work but if it is installed it could be possible to force start nVidia 3D Vision from C:\Program Files\NVIDIA Corporation\Control Panel Client\nvcplui.exe

Thats a nice setup you have, I like the watercooling If you already have MSI Afterburner installed you should be able to overclock as long as you have the GTX 970M selected as processor in Nvidia PhysX settings. If you still can't overclock you can try and install a software called MSI VGA Overclock Tool and then use Afterburner to overclock. Nice, if you are going to cut some holes or modify the backplate you could maybe fit something like a low profile cooler like the SlimHero 56mm tal (136W TDP) or maybe the Noctua NH-L9 37mm tal (65W TDP). That would probably fix all throlttling issues and allow you to run a bit higher clocks also if you can mod the socket to fit. Hello, I would stay away from the 9900K CPU with a Gigabyte Z390 AORUS and the Asus Maximus XI Hero motherboard combo for the moment because there are many people having boot issues and with boards / CPUs dying on them with that combination. If the Gigabyte / Asus Z390 motherboards they have are running too high stock voltage for the i9 CPUs and they end up burning up somehow..

Is this 120hz/60hz display thing a Bios issue? Because if it's true that pascal GPUs would need EDP mode to run and have a 120hz panel, then how are you BludBubbles getting the 60hz panel to boot but not the 120hz panel working??

It gave me quite a scare when I did a dump of my vBios with an older version of NVFlash, because the screen goes black / flickers etc. and it takes a few seconds before it comes back again. This is normal, however I noticed when I did the same with GPU-Z it warns you this will happen and then only switches the screen once and then it's done. Maybe this new NVFlash version is better in that manner?

Hello everyone, I'm Jens. I came across this site recently. It all started about a week before Christmas. There I was, playing battlefield and I started to notice this weird smell.. It was coming from my desktop, I exited the game had a look around and the smell went away.. I was like well I better do some cleaning, I have logged over 3000hours in battlefield alone plus a bunch of other games and never opened and cleaned the PSU. So I took the thing apart, removed some dust and put it back and had another go. Everything fine, maybe dial down the overclocks a bit, and check my fan settings.. Do some benchmarks and play some games.. But nope, the PSU kept getting hot. Really hot, I had it open and did some test and found a choke pushing 165c next to the mosfets and a cap almost bursting it's content from the heat, not good. Had a shorted coil, and thermal runaway as a result. So in the time I waited for a replacement 1000w desktop PSU I spent most of the time on my old MSI GT70 gaming laptop. And so I began to think this thing could do with an upgrade.. And I found several posts on here of ppl running GTX980m and maybe some GTX1060m cards. So now it got me curious, what about the new RTX cards.. They are bigger about 20mm more, but what if I could make one fit. Well I think this site looks like a good place to start, with a good community of ppl helping others. So I guess I will stick around and have some fun. Happy 2020!
