Well hold on. I'm not quite sure that's the case. Since I doubt it's the cpu as such as to why it bricks. I think its a hardware revision that came about adding a windows 8 key to the machine which bricks the devices upon flashing the mod. But since the newer i7 3630qm only gets sold with windows 8, many like my self used that to tell whether you could flash the mod or not. But the notebook obviously gets sold with i5 versions as well. Tl;DR; If you've bought your inspiron 7720 (17r-se) with windows 8 chances are you will brick your notebook with both svl as the Russian mod. Ben

Temps are not to blame here, I'm still running it at 970 atm, just without the bios mod. Meaning after every cold boot i have to reseat the battery to ''reset'' the gpu lock. And it doesnt get to hot when stressing the gpu. Even when stressing both the cpu and gpu it manages to cool itself enough (it does get quite loud though)

I'm starting to feel its a revision thing, did you get your 17r se with the cpu i7 3630qm (or that was at least the default i7 cpu at time of purchase?) instead of the earlier 3610. Obviously i doubt the cpu change is what made it fail, but perhaps the MB has had a silent change/update along with the cpu bump as well? Either way I'd recommend not using the mod if you've bought your 7720 recently.

furmark is fine on low resolution, without any aa. So i highly doubt that. Either way i have waiting reply from dell now, ty for trying to help though.

svl7 mod, the latest one with the 970 clock. Just that the symptoms are the same as those who have used the Russian one. - - - Updated - - - Yeah i understand, with the dead part i was simply referring to a bad flash resulting in a ''dead'' laptop. I just thought maybe because i rebooted, rather than power down the NB and then power on it may have not actually been using the new bios. Although i already felt like it was a long shot simply because i had furmark running for 10 min at 970 clock just fine. I'm just trying to understand as to why its happening at this point.

Thats what i thought as well at first, but with a reboot the system doesnt fully power down. And the symptoms just scream ''dead'' bios to me. And it looks a lot like the story from a few pages back regarding the russian mod. edit: would removing cmos for a sec help?, does the notebook even have one to begin with actually..? i have informed dell, but obviously rather not send it back.

Well, i have tried several methods as to recovering the bios, but the dell uses an uefi i believe, so pretty sure it those methods wouldn't ever work. Read something about naming the rom file BIOS.CAP and then have it on a usb drive, while powering up holding fn and esc. However none of the options seemed to yield any results. So atm in the dark here, also as to why it seems to be fine for others where as for me it seemed to have bricked my machine.

Hey, Used the latest 970 clock bios from svl7. Was good for an hour, untill i shut down the notebook. Now seems to be bricked, wont turn on proper. Only the leds turn on and hd spin for a sec, thats about it. Any tips?

Using a corsair vengeance 1500 my self for a while, quite fond it. Do note its an usb headset. So kind of waste when already equipped with a proper sound card. The corsair vengeance 1300 for on a budget would then be the better pick, but that's not the case here i imagine.

logitech G500 user here, absolutely love it. Went from an razer lachesis to this. Drivers alone are worth it going to a logitech. But what did it for me where the adjustable weights of the g500.

I'm not really following either, or you trying to figure out whether its ''on''? Like other have said before me mechanical drives have moving parts, thus are audible. An ssd however aint. If that's the case use a program like Hdtune.

Got my copy of bl2 with a nvidia gpu, and loved it since. Finished bl1 on the xbox with a mate a year ago, and was wuite fond of it back then. A lot more now (always more of a pc guy anyways). Got two characters, lvl 27 gunner and 16 siren. Like bl1 i feel the siren is an absolute beast in the game, although somewhat mellowed down. Overall a very good game, absolutely gorgeous music and scenery, with a lot of action kicked in.

What mouse do you use? Logitech G500 pc, mx518 laptop What DPI? pc 4k, laptop max i believe it's 3k? Any special mouse pad or surface? simple table for both Used to have a razer lachesis v2, driver support for x64 was horrible. Will stay away from razer my self for a long time
