  1. Ok chaps... further on from the 310 driver i posted, nvidia released 310.70 beta for 555m.... So as i said i was going to overvolt mod from here...its done! Results are as follows - using the latest 310.70 driver and custom a08 overvolt bios... With evga precision i Was able to reach max stable clocks of- 830mhz 1070 memory (stable) Although heat was only 68-70° it was a little too warm for my liking... (Although it did manage a whopping average 10-12+FPS increase over the base clock of 590mhz 900memory clocks!!!!) I decided on a more comfatable, cooler, setting of- 800mhz core clock 1060 memory Max temps after running MSI furmark for 30 mins were 68° ( which does stress the gpu at 100%) In fact, in ACTUAL gaming the temps were as low as 63° even after 2hr of batman arkham city with average of 34FPS..., and 62-63° in sleeping dogs, and a constanst 62° in assassins creed 3 30+fps!!! all maxed out. So in conclusion... Over the 5 Fixed benchmarks in the 5 games i ran- -batman arkham city (fixed in game benchmark) -sleeping dogs (fixed in game benchmark with high res) -hitman absolution (fixed in game benchmark) -resident evil 5 (fixed dx10 benchmark) -crysis 2 On average there was a massive gain of 8-10 fps increase from running the same benchmarks on the stock 555m clocks!!! (making a choppy 20 fps raise to a butter smooth 30+fps!) The following games i ran gave the best results... Battlefield 3 was able to run on all high settings (with some set to highest) running way,...way noticeably smoother and playable than before overclock Max payne 3 maxed out ran flawlessly... but Before overclocking could have some slow down now and again when too much physics action or graphics processing was going on... But after overclock very smooth and ran perfect Assassins creed 3 & batman arkhan city had huge fps gains of big 10+FPS Call of duty black ops 2 ran smooth maxed out great on single player But moving onto multiplayer saw VERY big increases in fps, on the larger maps was very noticable Skyrim maxed out had the most noticable inrease of all the games i tested with a whopping 12+FPS!! SO ... With my repaste on the cpu and gpu with artic silver done (reducing my max temps from 85-90° down to 62-65°) i went ahead with this m14x voltage mod... And tell the truth i am amazed what a good quality repaste and a small voltage increase for the overclock actually managed a minimum increase of 8-10fps increase!!! (12+FPS in another one or two i tested!!!) all with temps still below 70°!!!!. ***Delighted*** ;-) im sure i could have pushed further than a max of 830mhz and 1070 memory, probably with a nice cooling board with dual fans and few mods i could push a nice stable 850mhz and 1080memory!! But as for now im very happy scaling it down to a nice stable, cool, 800mhz core clock and 1060 memory !!!! Which is still A BIG 35% OVER STOCK CLOCKS!!!! Many thanks to @svl7 @n3ocort3x @Ninjahunter and all the creators and testers/uploaders of this great mod, all Your work and efforts are much appreciated!!... thanks.
  2. thanks vladichimescu... im hoping to get a stable 800mhz core clock with the voltage mod. (when a mod lets me download privliges!! lol. one more question vlad buddy... should turn turbo boost off on i7 CPU ... i mean does it improve gaming really?... or is it just needless heat? cheers
  3. Ok... I repasted mu gpu and cpu with artic silver paste as well as using a can of conpressed air to clean the fans and remove dust from vents,... Using this great guide- Alienware M14x Disassembly/Teardown and Upgrade Guide! My temps went from max load 86-93° right down to 65-68° max load with furmark!!! I have now overclocked from590mhz stock clock to 750mhz temps dont go over 70° using msi afterburner. The Dell paste job was awful and they used cheap nasty stuff! I am delighted that a simple repaste and clean could acheive this!!! I highly reccomend doing this as 20 degrees is a huge drop in temps!!! Hope this helps!! (just remember to follow the link excactly... Then reassemble in reverse order)
  4. No problem buddy... Glad i could help, :-) Now into overvolting!!... Gonna see if i can hit a nice stable 800mhz clock, (be happy with a nice safe 800)
  5. hmmm... i was using 306.87 drivers on a 555m i have a m14x r1 and black ops 2 just wouldnt stay stable (crashed at the beging credits) and freeze my laptop, assassins creed 3 random crashed now and again today i installed the latest BETA driver 310.97(or 310.something, the newest one!!) from official nvidia website... beta page. and fixed black ops 2 and assassins creed 3 and a big fps boost in battlefield 3. may help guys... helped me alot
  6. hi.. i have a alienware m14 x r1 with a gt555m 3gb *stock speed 590ghz)... 0verclocked to 700ghz my max temps under full load is 67 degrees (after a hour of furmark benchmark) i did a nice repaste job and temps dropped from 85-93degrees (under full load) to 65-67degrees full load... anyways question is... after i apply the voltage unlock mod, what stable (safe overclock) should i expect?? and what roughly will be the increase in heat?
  7. and is the over voltage pre set?... or do i tweak it myself?
  8. ok right my first post here guys... i have v08 bios... so i download the latest one uploaded right?
