  1. Well, after flashing this bios mod, i've tried to disable Intel HD by: 1. Disabling only IGP 2. Changing primary display to PEG 3. Changing primary display to PEG, enabling PEG Workaround and Always Enable PEG 4. Changing primary display to PEG and disabling IGP 5. Changing primary display to PEG, disabling IGP, enabling PEG Workaround and Always Enable PEG And yet, every path i took i got 8 beeps boot loop, having to reset the CMOS over and over and over again. I also disconnected and re-connected the LCD cable, removed and inserted the GPU heat sink again, but no luck at all. I just want to disable Intel HD and keep just my Nvidia card active, has anybody here got any success doing that?
  2. I wouldn't recommend it, as soon as you open your 870m your thermal pad is gone. Remember, not only having few thermal paste is bad as having too much is too. Each manufacturer applies a certain amount of paste, depending on the project design. Since you can't possible know what proper pad to use i suggest that you scrape all paste from your 870m and either weight it or measure the size of the "pea" and apply regular thermal compound instead of thermal pads.
  3. If you really don't know which brand to choose you should ask yourself, would you rather buy a headphone from a company that makes: 1. Sony: TVs, Videogames, Smartphones, Cameras... 2. Philips: Light bulbs, Toothbrushes, Shavers... 3. Razer: Mouses, Keyboards, Mousemats... 4. Sennheiser: Headphones, Headsets, Microphones, Speakers... Philips doesn't make any decent headphones. Razer will charge extra for something that is not worth it, don't fall for the false 7.1 advertised. Sure, you can find decent sony headphones. I myself have an 10RBT that i take with me when i travel, but back at home i use only my Sennheiser's. You get what you pay. Just please don't never ever even think on purchasing a beats.
  4. It's a great upgrade from a membrane keyboard to a mechanical. Which switch should you use? It's up to you. I would recommend you buy this: https://www.amazon.com/WASD-6-Key-Cherry-Switch-Tester/dp/B00AZQKCD4 You can try all switchs and choose which one suits you better. 5. A better option would be o use a HDMI Balun over Cat6A cable. Don't rely on wireless, it will present latency and data loss. Run over a CAT6a cable at 10GBit (F/FTP if possible) https://www.amazon.com/Cable-Matters-Extender-Ethernet-including/dp/B00OZV04BK/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1485521905&sr=8-2&keywords=hdmi+balun+cat6
  6. It WILL be worth it when it has a proper refresh rate. The current gen of GPU can barely handle it, the top GPUs can't maintain a steady 60FPS. To be worth it we would need a 120hz 4k monitor and a GPU to be able to handle that. But nowadays nobody uses a single monitor anymore. Now multiply that by 2 or 3. How many GTX 1080 would you need to be able to use a triple 120hz 4k config? and what about the cost? 1080p still has lifespan, 4k will take maybe another 4-5 years before hitting mainstream.
  7. It makes no sense to use any kind of RAID on a SSD config. 1. SSD shouldn't be used as storage drives 2. RAID 0 SSD gain don't justify wasting a disk RAID should only be used on Hard Disks. RAID 0 is not worthy anymore nowadays with SSD being cheap. RAID 1 is a waste of money. I would bet on RAID 5 for storage on a NAS server if you wan't to go with that route.
  8. I had the same problem a few months ago. You are probably trying to install it via an USB 3.0 port, right? Win7 doesn't have the USB 3.0 drivers, you need to install it on a 2.0 port or embed the USB 3.0 drivers on the ISO. Here you can download the drivers: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/21129/USB-3-0-Driver-Intel-USB-3-0-eXtensible-Host-Controller-Driver-for-Intel-7-Series-C216-Chipset-Family A tutorial on how to do it: http://codeabitwiser.com/2014/03/how-to-install-windows-7-with-only-usb-3-0-ports/
  9. There is a wonderful tool called Parted Magic (https://partedmagic.com that is like a PC swiss army knife. You can find what you are looking for there. There is a free version from an older version back when the software was freeware if you don't wan't to purchase it.
  10. Question, how do i disable Intel HD 3000 and keep just the NVIDIA Card? I'm trying to connect my notebook to a monitor and duplicate both screens but there is no such option on Display Settings. I've tried to disable it everywhere software-side without any luck. Any help will be very welcome.
