  1. Hi there, I'm currently running an eGPU setup with the EXP GDC v8 (mini PCIE) and a GTX 1060 6GB. Most games I have no trouble running and I'm aware of the bottlenecking from the low bandwidth but for me, the performance I'm getting in Battlefield 1 especially, is remarkably low. At lowest possible settings with 1680 x 1050, I'm getting around 50 FPS, with periodic drops to 40 sometimes even 30 during intense fire-fights. Turning up the graphics do nothing for my frames and lowering the resolution to 1366 x 768 or 1280 x 1024 only gives me like 5-10 frames. Most graphically intensive games I have (GTA 5, Far Cry 4 etc) seem to run fairly well and bus usage is around 40-50% for those but I don't notice bad spikes like in BF1. My brother running a 960M gets more 20 more frames on average and never dips to 40fps like me at the same graphical settings. I purchased this 1060 thinking my old card (GTX 960 2GB) was not up to scratch but now, I'm the one left scratching my head. What I have noticed is that the GPU Bus usage hovers around 60-70% and sometimes hits 80. As the usage increases, the FPS decreases sometimes (though not always) and I thought there might be a connection here. But then I see people like this chap here who's getting the same frames as me, but on Ultra settings. So how's everyone else finding the game (or similar one)?   2. Couldn't find what I was looking for on the forum so I'm starting my own thread here. I tried downgrading my bios from 3.08 to 2.07 so I could install svl's modded bios and due to a series of unfortunate events my laptop is bricked. It wont post, it turns off and on a few times before starting, after which the fan cycles between on and off while the HDD remains on but no video is being outputted to the monitor via HDMI or VGA (my laptop screen broke). When I initially backflashed my BIOS it wouldnt POST but I was able to get into the BIOS to confirm that it indeed was running 2.07. Tried re-flashing my BIOS backed up onto the usb but the laptop shut down instantly (despite having no devices attached, a full battery and no other devices connected to the wall outlet). Tried flashing a crisis BIOS with this http://blog.jimsjump.com/2016/02/07/lenovo-y510p-v305-bios-bricked-crisis-recovery-solved/ and that also failed (heard series of beeps for about 5 minutes before the laptop just turned off). In a bid to get my laptop working I tried shorting the CMOS battery, which did nothing and reflashing the BIOS but I can't seem to get the laptop to stay on, it just keeps turning restarting. I thought that maybe I need to purchase a new bios chip like this one: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Dual-BIOS-CHIPS-for-LENOVO-B430-Y400-Y410P-Y430P-Y510P-Z710-G710-Z510-Z410-/131142954077?hash=item1e88baac5d:g:WaQAAOxyFXhSNrEM Which got me thinking, is the second BIOS for the Lenovo like the dual bios for gigabyte that can be used to salvage a system if flashing of the first chip doesn't go according to plan? If so, how can I access it? Otherwise it looks like I'll have to purchase two brand new chips... And risk bricking it again just to get my eGPU working :/
  3. HEy guys, I downflashed mine from 3.08 to the stock 2.07 and now the lenovo logo flashes for a couple of milliseconds and then the screen flashes off and on (black baground) indefinitely. Did i have to do something to my Vbios as well? Or should I re-flash back to 3.08? Doesn't seem to want to display anything. although I can get into bios and it tells me 2.07 is installed.
  4. I believe a more promising method exists with the utilization of aptamers (artificial antibodies) to target cell-specific sequences. Either way, it's an amazing time to be alive and I had the privilege of using crispr in the lab during my Cell and Molecular Biology Major. Watch this space, Cancer may soon be something we tell our loved ones about as if it were the common cold.
