I have the Last Top Model MBP from before the new ones. 15" 2.8Ghz i7 with 16 GB of RAM and AMD M370X and Intel Iris Pro. GTX970 in an Akito 2 box. I am not doing anything that is using Cuda cores... mostly just playing WoW with Graphics settings high. It has totally improved my performance though. My fans never spin up anymore....

I am using a 970. Just an FYI... they do not "officially" publicly support many cards.... but they quietly do produce drivers for them.

They have always said that, and then the drivers are released. They don't officially support it... so they won't officially give an affirmative response. When Sierra came out it was a day or so... the last patch was a day or 2 also. Wait a couple days and it will likely be released. If they were going to stop doing it... they probably would have stopped it for Sierra at all... not just stopping all of the sudden on a random small patch release to the OS.

This is the adapter you need: http://a.co/1HGrKLB You don't need to go from HDMI to MDP... you just need to go from Display Port to MDP Female. That adapter should do the trick. Your video card as a Regular Display Port plug right next to the HDMI.

Wonder if anybody is talking about if this will work on the new MacBooks? Apple makes a TB2 to TB3 adapter.

Does anybody know how to check if NVIDIA has released drivers for the new build? I don't really want to do the update until I know the new driver is out... I will just wait until it is.

I am running a GTX970 using Sierra right now. Have been since about 24 hours after Sierra was released.

I have been using this script with Sierra just fine. The script works with Sierra currently... it is a matter of the manufacturer of your Video Card creates drivers for Sierra or not. Since Apple released their update today.... it will depend on if the Video Card manufacturer releases an driver update for the new MacOS build #. Has nothing to do with this script.

We do though. He stopped this project, to work on a new BETTER one that does the same thing more effectively. He could decide to stop that project too, or not publish it because people like you are being annoying and are arguing with him about his decision. Do you really think you are going to convince him to change his mind the way you are talking to him? You are being rude, condescending, and argumentative. That is not a way to persuade someone. Just stop.

Please stop, he has explained himself. It is his right to make this choice and you are not making the situation any better by pushing the issue.

He has explained himself already in this thread. I would kindly ask that you drop the issue. The rest of us would like him to continue to work on his better project and I think being disrespectful to him or continuing to push him... will lead to him abandoning eGPU projects completely.

Understood, I require it as well. Not exactly. What they are doing is buying hardware that costs roughly $400.... and then advertising this as a complete solution with software included for about $1000. So they make $600+ profit for doing mostly nothing except giving the equipment and software together. They also include this script as "software" of their own and do not really tell their customers that the software is freeware they are taking from someone else. Economics is beside the point. The creator of this does not want his software being used to rip of other people. It was never about him making, or losing, money. It is about someone else taking his creation and using it to make an excessive profit on someone else. It really doesn't matter if you understand it, or agree with it. It is his decision. It was discussed at length in this thread... as well as others. He has decided what he wants to do, it is up to him if he wants to change his mind. Anybody who breaks the rules he has set forth are violating the license agreement for use of his software. This is his right as the creator of this script to make that decision. I would strongly suggest dropping this and let it be. He is working on a project that is better... and I do not think arguing with him about a project he has decided to discontinue... will make him want to continue his new effort... or decide to publish it.

No it is not required at all. All this script does.. is "Automate" the process. It makes it easier, but is not required. I am sure you, and many other people would. However the creator is not making it for sale.. which is his choice. The script still is free for everyone to use. It just cannot be bundled in some type of commercial process, or modified. It wasn't a problem when he started this project because it was more of a friendly project and nobody was stealing it to make money... but then someone ruined it and stole this to "sell" their hardware. So he has changed the terms of use with the .99 version to limit its use. It is his decision to do so, and unless he changes his mind.. there is nothing to be done about it. His work, his rules.

The Script still works as of right now. I have used it to get my eGPU working on MacOS Sierra. However, it may not work for you if the Manufacturer of your Video Card has not released updated Drivers for your Card. eGPU's do not require this script to work. This script just made it easier to do... and @goalque was kind enough to make it free of charge. However, he is no longer working on it to work on a better project. If for some reason a change to MacOS breaks this.. then we are on our own.. unless he has released his new program by then. The license is restricted to prevent his work from being stolen, modified, and published because some commercial sellers of eGPUs were taking this script and including it with their hardware. So if someone else were to take his script... and "fix" it.. and then publish it.. the commercial sellers could take the modified script and include it again as if it was their own work. Which is stealing.
