Thats what i was expecting as well. Specially because of all the great feedback out there. Just turned into a bad experience for buying a 11g tube of Kryonaut. a few thermal pads and a few fans.

US$300 AKiTiO Node TB3 eGFX box (32Gbps-TB3)
bloodhawk replied to rene_canlas's topic in Enclosures and Adapters
Yeap, there are 3 TB3 controllers out there, one is a single port version, the second one is a dual port and the 3rd one is the lower power version. On desktops AFAIK they are capable of sourcing upto 100W, not sure about the laptop implementations, but the 15W sounds in line with what i have heard as well. -
I have been ordering from them for the past 2 years, haven't had any issues. Called them once to check on an order and modify it and they promptly helped me out on a Sunday. Though i haven't ordered anything too expensive from them.

US$300 AKiTiO Node TB3 eGFX box (32Gbps-TB3)
bloodhawk replied to rene_canlas's topic in Enclosures and Adapters
People still dont understand how easily the TB3 port starts having over head issues. The moment you start using those extra ports, and want to game at the same time, your performance will tank. Unless you want to unplug and plug in a few wires every time you want to play something. -
There is definitely a bottle neck because of the available TB3 bandwidth. But hey, from 12k base score to 18k. Not bad. Also the 1080 would not work with the @j95 driver, no matter what. I haven't tried installing the driver after connecting the 1080 though. Initial Test (TB3 HDK + Strix 1080) : http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/15174199 http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/15174966 But once you connect using the eGPU, you can freely switch using the NVIDIA dialogue. Intel, Apple and Licensing. From what i have seen with the Razer Core. It does. -

That will cripple/gimp your GPU performance . The TB3 interface can only handle so much data through put. -
Dang that's weird . I think my sister's HTC10 had that issue, she got it replaced. Seems like I'm more excited about your system lol j/k
-
When will we get to see pictures of your monster?
-
Yeap. Its the exact same thing, They just have changed the Device ID / Name. And from the port layout on the eGFX Box (Node), its seems like that also might have the same thing. Just with a different firmware. Here is a quick picture, ill get you better ones later on tonight once im back from work. Also InXtron seems to be Akitio's parent company / ODM ? And caters to commercial clients rather than end users.
-
With that attitude, keep asking asking around. I actually have the Akitio TB3 Box, the TB3 HDK and access to a Razer core and access to a XPS 15.
-
Well, i have seen people using the Razer Core on the XPS 15, so the Akitio TB3 shouldn't be an issue either. These just became available recently, so it will be a while before people actually test them out.
-
When i first placed my order a few weeks back, they cancelled it stating it wasnt available. So i went ahead ordered the Inxtron TB3 HDK, which is pretty much the same as the Akitio. It should ship next week, since some New Moon thing is going on where they are based and the offices are closed. Will keep you guys posted.
-
I meant the soldering points that are on the top right side on the board. I actually ordered the Inxtron TB3 HDK a few days back. The Akitio one is based off of that. They said i should have it in a week or 2, will post my results then.

Nice! Would love to see some benchmarks~! Also are you using the pre-existing pads on the board to power the GPU? Or is it coming from the PSU?

Nice! Were you able to get the TB3 Enclosure when it was available earlier this week ? I had it in my cart until it became unavailable yesterday.
-
Ah , actually yeah. I replaced that as well. And shimmed it.
-
Depending on where you get it from, around $100. Yeap, i got so frustrated with the heat sink that i did this to it : http://imgur.com/a/Gw2XM @Dr. AMK
-
Yeap, Its as easy as adding a second card and adding the Grid Heat sink. And the Grid isnt as expensive as one might expect. And that you have 2 x 330W adapters. EDIT : I guess Prema answered.

Though its interesting and all. Their video almost game me cancer.
