hey Tech Inferno Fan, I am new to the forum and I signed up myself because of this topic. It is awesome that you got a gtx980 to work on a m.2 pcie x4 port. I am very interested in this solution because I own a new MSI GE72-6QF (Skylake) which has one m.2 pcie gen 3.0 x4 (nvme) port which offers in theory 32gb/s bandwidth (same like thunderbolt 3). At the moment there is no adapter for m.2 pcie 3.0 x4 to pcie 3.0 x4 available but I think they will come out in the near future. So I want to start with a gen2 implementation via m.2 and later a gen3. What do i need for an implementation? I already have a modular be quiet 530w psu and a adapter/converter (m.2 to pcie x4 gen2). regards Edit: Edit 2: I ordered a pcie x16 to pcie x4 riser cable and will try a simple implementation like you.
