  1. If anyone one of you guys noticed there are new generation of pe4c v4. It looks amazing for what they have done to HDMI to mini-pcie, HOWEVER only HDMI m-pcie cable doesn't have any drill hole which you can not insert the screw to secure it. If you leave the m-pcie like that, then it will hang under your laptop or "dangling" because it doesn't have any anchor on it. Imo its better to get v3 one. . This is PE4C v3 ^^^^ This is PE4C v4 ^^^
  2. There is no information about exp gdc v8 Gen speed, however there is a customer review " Uncommon hiccups with Gen 2 Signalling issues, external monitor will either shut off completely or driver will stop responding for a few seconds. Do not recommend this device if you cannot use Gen 2 Link speed. " (source: http://www.banggood.com/NGFF-Version-V8_0-EXP-GDC-Beast-Laptop-External-Independent-Video-Card-Dock-p-1009978.html in customer review section). In conclusion, exp gdc v8 can handle only Gen1 speed. Why EXP GDC V6/V7s better than PE4C V2.1? + 0W US$50 offering is far more affordable. Their a user sources their own ATX PSU to drive the adapter. + import tax free for some EU countries + Dell DA-2 native input cable -> Customer can buy the PSU locally in their own country -> corrected in PE4C 2.1. It too has a native DA-8 8-pin input. + Rubber protected (re-enforced) mPCIe/EC cable + Very good shape of adapter + V7 has a x2 2.0 NGFF.M2 PCIe connector option + V7 has very stylish enclosure options Disadvantages: - V6 had some quality issues: USB port power, faulty mPCIe/EC cables, PCI Reset Delay faulty on some samples - logistics/delivery/purchase is more complex via Taobao agents like yoybuy - No x2 link option where can combine EC+mPCIe or mPCIe+mPCIe (Series-5 1st gen i-core or older chipsets) I recommend PE4C v3.0 over exp gdc v8, although it is slightly pricier (maybe +$10 over exp gdc v8).
  3. Nando, I have one question about diy setup 1.30v, "How do I make my video card to appear in 1.30v setup box menu? It appears only egpu adapter was the only thing was recognized by 1.30v." I performed many of these tasks: -I checked my 650w ATX psu, and it is properly connected to egpu adapter and video card -Tried to use hotplug method (from troubleshoot section) during 1.30v setup and only egpu adapter appeared in the box -Performed DDU (display driver unistaller) and opened the clean install for gtx 970 -I booted into windows w/o 1.30v setup, and my device manager recognize my gtx 970 (its odd that setup 1.30v is unable to recognize it) -Changed the power management mode from adaptive to prefer maximum power from nvidia control panel Also, I tried running chainloader run test and my black screen showed up (basically it crashed). Is there any way to force 1.30v setup to recognize my video card? I don't think there's any solution from troubleshoot DIY 1.30v section :/
  4. Please refer to this page for more information on DIY egpu 1.30v setup. It has all of information you need in there. If you're getting GDC beast then you can find the list of compatible models in this website (in product detail section, just keep scrolling down until you see the "Laptop models we already tested list:"). http://www.banggood.com/EXP-GDC-Laptop-External-PCI-E-Graphics-Card-p-934367.html Edited: Forgot to add in link
  5. Honesty you're comparing PCIe to mPCIe, so most egpu adapters should work with mPCIe (the one you have). But keep in your mind, you won't be able to connect to wifi. You should able to use USB wifi adapter to connect to your internet (I bought NetGear A6200 refurbished and it's pretty nice plus it's cheap). Also, I won't guarantee you will successfully use your egpu in your laptop due to mPCIe whitelist (some companies block the connection from your egpu adapter to mPCIe port). You need to do some research on your laptop whether if it is whitelisted or not. Also, I recommend donating to Nando for 1.30v egpu setup because this will virtually eliminate the problem of whitelist and ability to handle your egpu crash (it happens in my game all of the time lol). You can pay him for $25 and I strongly you should get one if you needed one. Also I have my picture of mPCIe so you would know your egpu adapter should able to work. PLEASE NOTE: you need to find out your laptop is whitelisted or not!!
  6. Your mpcie looks very similar to mine, I doubt this will definitely work. ------------------------------------- Also I managed to convert my gpt into mbr through this video By installing rufus program and windows copy in your usb, this will highly guarantee to make your pc to recognize mbr partition format. Last time, I didn't used this software and my pc hardly recognize my mbr partition set from hdd. [This specified drive is not convertible...] For anyone who is having really hard time trying to convert gpt to mbr, this video might work well for you.
  7. This is my first post in here. Anyway Mongocom, you should try using external monitor (maybe you have it lying around in your house?) because occasionally most egpu would sent information to external monitor. I wasn't aware that my egpu would be working to external monitor instead of laptop lcd, so you should give it a try. To anyone who is having difficult time converting gpt to mbr process, you should follow this post http://www.firewing1.com/node/610#gpttombr A fair warning, you should have your partitions backed up before you attempt your conversion..I just happened to get my partition data corrupted :/ For more info on backup: http://www.rodsbooks.com/gdisk/mbr2gpt.html#gpt2mbr (follow in the very bottom of the page: Final conversion thought) I strongly you to create a saved backup!!
