I'm using grub2. I tried this with a live linux (arch) on the HP, and still wasn't detected by lspci. I googled a bit, and the second line "link training error: status 0x1001" is related to being unable to hotswap pci-e devices. So, I'm sloooowly making progress, at least I managed to obtain a reaction to the PE4C from the HP Elitebook 8440p. I'm now convinced the PE4C is probably ok, but the laptops' expresscard slots may be missconfigured or something. Getting closer.... won't give up. I also attach some screens from Setup 1.3 on the HP Elitebook 8440p Here the egpu isn't detected. Do anyone have any sugestion for this?

This laptop has Arch Linux, will put windows on it to try. So I turned the laptop and the egpu off. Maybe it is indeed damaged, but on the HP I never got any reaction that showed the PE4C was detected, not in windows (10) nor in linux. @Tech Inferno Fan Could I have an opinion on these readings? I'm pretty competent on software, but not on hardware...

Well, I have tried with Setup 1.3 and the card isn't detected. I have tried with different SW1 and SW2 postions, nothing detected. I have disabled all but the one PCI port that expresscard uses (I had plugged a usb3 expansión card on the express card slot and worked) and the egpu is not detected My model is an PE4C v3.0, tried with bot the Dell D220P and an ATX 450W PSU Cards tested: GT 8800, GTX 560ti, GTX 750ti, all work on their own. On the board, the D1 LED (CLKRUN) is always red while the express card is plugged. The board never powers up on it's own, if I short the "force power on" pins on the board, the card powers on and the fans rotate at full speed, but it isn't detected When powered up, the D2 and D3 LEDS (3.3v and 12v) are Green, and D4(PERST) is red I'm already out of options. I cannot return the PE4C V3.0, but I think it may have been defective. I have tried on three laptops (all HP, different models) with the same symptoms. Any other suggestion?

I have tried several combinations of switches to no avail, the egpu isn't detected. I'll try with setup 1.3 to see if I can get any kind of response from the PE4C, I cannot return it now as it is over a month that I got it, so I hope this works.

I have checked for Expresscard options in bios, no useful options found. I have the Dell D220P AC adapter for it, but the card doesn't seem to turn on (the fan remains dead) If I connect the expresscard, I get a the PERST led turn on dimly. If I force the powerup of the card by shorting the jumper, the card powers on, the fan spins, the 12v and 3v leds turn green and the CLK led turns brightly red, but the PERST one remains dim. In any case nothing gets detected on the device manager (Windows 10) I'll try with both switches on the default position (1) before turning on the laptop, don't remember if I tried that way. Hotpluging the card doesn't work, nothing gets detected. Should the CLK and or the PERST leds turn green at any point?, or is normal they're red? Will the card turn on on its own when detected or I'll always have to force the power up via the board pins when using Dell D220P AC adapter? I have tried on several laptops (all HP, but different models), in none the board gets detected. I have tried 2 video cards GTX560ti and GTX750ti and none gets detected. The cards work on their own on desktop computers. Maybe I'm doing something wrong....

Hi I'm looking for help, My system HP Elitebook 8440p Core i5 520m 8Gb ram PE4C V3.0 ExpressCard ZOTAC GTX 750Ti Dell D-2 power supply. Here's a pic of my device manager (for TOLUD) And a pic of the leds on the PE4C V3.0, the two at the edges are red, and the two in the middle are green. The fan of the card starts working, but apart from that, I get nothing. No matter the combination on switches on the PE4C, the laptop doesn't detect anything. Device manager doesn't move at all. Tried on Linux with dmesg, and I didn't detect any change on expresscard insertion. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance
