  1. Sure - better. If only it weren't eatin' up majority of my 16GB RAM, whilst there is no news about possibility of having 32 up and working in this lap... Using Win10 with 16GB is (for me) veeery difficult...
  2. Me, I seriously consider downgrading ro Win7 - the point here is that Microsoft is claimed to make Win7 usage wery molesting these days, by publishing patches and upgrades that make this system more and more similar to Win10 in exactly those areas where we would likely enjoy not touching anything. But if I was sure any 2x16GB chips would work on 2570p, I'd buy even for those 200~250$. And I'd forget about hardware upgrades for - dunno - 5 years...? :|
  3. I see no new 12~13" laptops offering higher CPU performance than my 3632QM, not even saying 37**QM or 38**QM, that can also be installed in my 2570p. Those new ones have a capability of installing up to 32GB RAM, but have only 2-core processors on board. Therefore, if I wanted to "upgrade" buying a new lap, I'd spend sth like 1.5k€ (+RAM price) for a lap with similar (or lower) CPU performance and no optical drive (I got BD-ROM and I do use it). I'd really prefer to spend my pasta on 2 16GB chips, if only the system could see it. batyanko - I always have maaany tabs opened in my web browser. Right now, Opera eats up 8GB of memory, while Chrome and Netscape are far more RAM-greedy (moreover, no web browser, as I see, is releasing memory properly - so the usage increases by the moment I restart the browser - or the lap). And web browser is not the only app I use, of course. Boxes telling me that my system is running low on memory I see almost every day... Under Win7 I never had this problem, even when having only 8GB RAM.
  4. This question has been posed several times in this topic, but I see no answer so far... So - has anyone managed to install 32GB RAM on tis laptop? I'm quite happy with my i7-3632QM, but the amount of RAM used under Win10 is so incredible that even 16GB seems to be pretty a little. And although formally chipset doesn't accept 2x16GB chips, there are still new and new prods on the market, so maybe there finally appeared a possibility of bypassing this chipset limitations and somehow have 32GB RAM on board...?
  5. Just thinking out loud... I have currently an i7-4702MQ on board. Does it make any sense to swap it for 4800MQ or 4810MQ? I mean, would there be any noticeable performance increase, given a need for undervolting the 48xx CPUs in order to reduce TDP? Link is inactive... Can I still find the content somewhere?
  6. Everything works like a charm now. I was struggling with Win10 a lot by the moment they told me in HP to reinstall the system in GPT mode (not in legacy it was previously installed). Once done, all the problems disappeared. They told me they have several issues with HP users on Win10 when installed in legacy mode. I just equipped my laptop with BDR drive and if only I had a lighted keyboard and IPS in it, it would be just perfect
  7. todo1 - what WiFi and Bluetooth cards you have on board? There were 3 options in 2570p, I suppose mine could be the issue... And is your 2570p equipeed with Ericsson broadband card?
  8. I put 3612QM - best value for money. And it is 5 degrees colder than my factory i5 used to have... :-) EDIT Seems that this topic died - what a pity With i7 quadro, SSD and 16GB RAM this laptop is a monster, being it less than 500$ for everything for an almost-new set (laptop a second-hand one, but never used, SSD and RAM brand new, CPU second-hand with guarantee) Anyhow, the keybord light is a joke. Theoretically, it is the same approach as in the former 25XXp models, but in 2530p and 2540p the integrated lamp, almost far from perfect, was allowing an effective work in a dark. In 2570pit is impossible - I just ordered an external usb light As to retrofitting a keyboard from 820 G1 - I had no opportunity to check it myself, but having mailed some sellers on ebay, got an information that the keyboard is "physically totally different and has different connectors" (whatever it means). So, no hope... EDIT2 Anyone installed Win10 on 2570p? Mine is rock stable on Win7, but Win10 gets frozen all the time.... HP just says it was not tested for Win10 so use Win7 or get off :/
  9. As for the CPU replacement.... What is easily available on the local market now is 3610qm for around 100$ (SR0MN), 3630qm (SR0UX) or 3632qm (SR0V0) for around 130$, then 37xxQM series for around 200$. I also found an offer for 3612qm for 65$. Seems that 3610 is the best deal - any drawbacks, given half the price of higher 37xx/38xx series? In passmark checks difference is around 10-15%, definitely doesn't worthy paying 100% more. Anyhow, not sure how about multipliers in this case. And someone mentioned battery drain in 36xxQM, but no details... As for cooling - summarizing the discussion so far, it seems that the only well tested solution is to add a copper shim. No alternatives to factory fan, though (?).
  10. Dell e6440 is a decent machine, but is none replacement to 2570p - it is the whole 2 inches larger... I used to have 2520p, 2530p, and have a 2540p now. I just love the series (although hate the keyboard they put in XX60p and xx70p). Now would like to upgrade to another 12" lap, unfortunately, both Dell and HP gave up equipping them with optical drives... So, willing to have a 12~13" dockable laptop with an optical drive, it seems that 2570p is still the best one can get (and nothing newer on the way). It's a pity, that msata doesn't work here...
