  1. dGPU version has a much better cooler, but you will have to disable the dGPU in order to enable Opt. compression. I never used an Nvidia card on this laptop so I won't know. I would suggest dGPU if you want to upgrade to i7 quad. If you are going dual core any of the two would be OK and iGPU would be easier to setup. note: There are some reports that some E6430 (iGPU/dGPU) won't handle adequately the x1.2 signal. Two cases reported to have trouble to connect an eGPU successfully @ x1.2 with EC. They had to downgrade to x1.1. Right now prices are too low on ebay (you can find a CPU only as low as $100). So you may take your chances and try. I would also suggest that you go for one of the latest models so it will still be under warranty. That's a bad news, how can I discover if mine will work at 1.2Opt or not? The igpu only model is unaffected?the dgpu can be disabled into bios or I need egpu setup? Another thing: my t530 runs very cool maibe around 60C° also playing at GTA 5 with everything maxed on fhd display, I have an i5-3360 processor.. Why the dell has temperature problem with same I core series? I've read also about modded bios to overclock the CPU, it will work with any supported CPU or only with some models?sorry for too much request, but I don't want to buy another bad laptop...
  2. Ok so will be OK.. Is better the dgpu + igpu version or igpu only for my purpose? Inviato dal mio Lenovo P70-A utilizzando Tapatalk
  3. The t430 won't have any monitor connected at boot on egpu or it will stuck on thinkpad logo, so I've used an HDMI switch connecting laptop output and egpu output to the same monitor... But I have to switch every time I boot computer and I prefer a more clean solution.. If I connect two cables to same monitor, ( after windows start or it won't boot) , the data will go over igpu and the 3d performance goes slower also disabling the monitor into windows.. For that reason i'm searching a better solution, thanks. Inviato dal mio Lenovo P70-A utilizzando Tapatalk
  4. thanks but I need optimus compression at least into win for play 3d games.. Inviato dal mio Lenovo P70-A utilizzando Tapatalk
  5. Hi everyone, I'm thinking to buy an E6430 laptop to make an egpu system in according to an P4EC and MSI gtx9604gb.. I have some doubt: is that laptop fully compatible with egpu via express card? I would use the laptop docked and closed and I need to have the video output from the egpu working also out windows; for example in bios, in boot order selecting menu and in Linux. At the moment I have a think pad t430 but it won't boot with a monitor attacked to egpu, I have to connect it after bios and it work only into Linux and windows.. I don't like that solution so I'm asking if the problems will go away using that e6430, thanks for the answers. Inviato dal mio Lenovo P70-A utilizzando Tapatalk
  6. Thanks for the reply, sorry for the questions but i cant seem to find the way to know the TOLUD, because in my case i dont find any PCI BUS its just PCI EXPRESS ROOT COMPLEX ( COMPLEJO RAIZ PCI EXPRESS, in spanish) also can i uncheck the whitelist from the BIOS?? and for last wich do you think would be a GPU card with less errors or less incompatibility issues ATI or NVIDIA??? Sorry for my bad english and for asking too many questions. MANY THANKS!! Surely you need a gtx nvidia card, as gtx960 or better, and a dell da-2 as supply, but after that you must to try what happens with your laptop, maybe for start if you have another mpci card you can try if the laptop recognize it or get an error on boot, after that you can try the egpu software by Tech Inferno Fan. P.s. I'm not a really expert about egpu, I'm interesting about it from some month only and I have done mine only,in my opinion the egpu will work with a bit of modding but I can be wrong and the thing will go to nightmare cause you have bought several hardware and the system can't work. You need to try and see what's happens. Check the soldering after 3m tape on the board, maybe some wire is disconnected , have you bended the cable? Bye Inviato dal mio Lenovo P70-A utilizzando Tapatalk
  7. The PE4C with key A/E is the right for you, but after insert the adapter is not sure it will work , as I know you are the first with that laptop model. The problems can be: not whitelisted slot, tolud.. And some of them can be very difficult to solve.. But you can try if you feel lucky, and you have spare time. I've made a eGPU setup with a "tested" laptop and I've worked for a month for make it work almost properly.. Maybe yours will be plug and play.. Or with egpu setup software you can do a mod easily.. Bye.
  8. I have now also tried a PE4C, with all combinations of sw1 sw2 switch settings. So I have now tried two adaptors. I have now also converted from GPT to MBR with and installed Setup 1.3. Setup 1.3 does not detect the eGPU either. Is my brand new GPU dead on arrival? Only thing I can think of now. In device manager you don't see any device with error 12 under graphics card when the egpu is connected? Have you well inserted the express card into the laptop? Try to check under security in bios if express card slot has been disabled.. And get back to normal supply connection, with pe4C at least the egpu must start by himself, so remove all egpu delay. Install and start lenovo system update for update your drivers and common modules, update the bios, after that, if the card will be recognized but you get error 12 you can pass to second step Bye
  9. Why don't you try with external LCD? Just to see what happens.. Inviato dal mio Lenovo P70-A utilizzando Tapatalk
  10. i've a little problem: sometimes the performance of my system go very well, sometimes not, i'm not using the battery for the computer t530 (i bought it but isn't arrived yet) Can be a battery related that problem? the score on benchmark 3dmark 06 goes from 21500 to 17500 depending from nothing ..
  11. no, i've tried using internal laptop screen (1600x900) and the fps go up 130 in some moments, the final score is around 17500 for 3dmark 06
  12. The only issue in windows was to boot without monitor connected, I added a mechanical HDMI switch after to not disconnect the cable at every boot, on Linux the latest version works like a charm with little mods, there is a guide online. Inviato dal mio Lenovo P70-A utilizzando Tapatalk As I see the PCI speed is only 1.1, try to check into bios over power management for PCI express.. At 2.0 you will have much better result Inviato dal mio Lenovo P70-A utilizzando Tapatalk
  13. the card must run by himself without switch, i have the same adaptor, same power supply and no problem with my lenovo t530 and other several computer, be sure to connect the external 8pin connector to pe4c base maybe you got a faulty pe4c or faulty dell adapter.. try with a standard atx supply for first, and watch if there are any changes, bye.
  14. if you are using vsinc yes. try to enable vsinc on the nvidia panel instead of game app. what score do you get on 3dmark06? but on internal at fhd resolution the 2.0x1 bandwith is too small , so that's the problem, i've suffered for same problem and playng on 24" external now.
  15. The bandwith is the problem, so for optimal speed you must play over external screen, check with gpuz the speed of PCI express while the nvidia logo rotate over driver menu, if you see PCI 2.0x1 everything is OK.
  16. Have you tried to check over express card configuration over bios? The two switch must set at zero delay (DX) for be recognized on boot. If the fans start to rotate slow, the card is recognized, if start spinning at full speed, doesn't, be sure of connect the external supply on 3d card directly also, bye. 17. I've the same PC ad yours, t530 only igpu,i5 3360m, i've used a PE4C 3.0 and a MSI gtx960 4gb. Everything works fine on internal LCD, but if I want to use an external monitor to the egpu, I must connect it after boot or the bios will hangs. Playing over internal is not a good option, cause the LCD is too small, have bad quality , bad resolution and the system is slower than using external lcd. I've also started with the same idea but I've switched to a dell IPS 24" and I haven't any regrets. About enclosure I use the card naked over my desk but you can make everything with plastics, wood, metal, paper .. I've managed to make egpu working over Linux too ( external only) Bye. Inviato dal mio Lenovo P70-A utilizzando Tapatalk
  18. And when I tried with my internal display. I got this after 5mins Please help... Have you tried to monitor temperatures? Maybe the CPU go too hot?
  19. I have a partial success connecting t530 igpu only with PE4C and MSI GTX960 4GB: win7 64: internal monitor is working and external too, wei give the max to graphic ; the benchmark of fire strike rate the system around 6000 and over 3dmark 06 21800, the card must be connected at startup and the external monitor must be connected after boot otherwise the PC freeze on boot. No need of use egpu program , only driver install, very good performance over real games on fhd monitor into new games as gta5, fallout 4, crysis 3.. High or ultra details, work stably for hours, the laptop remains cool and the GPU too even overclocked. BIG Thanks to Nando4, and his big patience.. The problems remained is that I have to disconnect every time the external monitor on boot and to make it work over Ubuntu.. Inviato dal mio Lenovo P70-A utilizzando Tapatalk
  20. If are confident of doing a DSDT override then the T530 iGPU model would be the preferred option. Usually less costly than the dGPU model. arteart successfully applied a DSDT override on a iGPU-only T430 at https://www.techinferno.com/index.php?/forums/topic/5874-guide-dsdt-override-to-fix-error-12/ which then gives a plug'n'play solution. The t530 is arrived, I have reinstalled windows 7 with egpu connected, no error, everything appear to be fine, the igpu and egpu are installed without problem.. But when I play with games they use only the igpu, I've tried selecting the gtx960 inside nvidia panel as preferred for gaming but no changes. Any advice? I must install egpu setup for make it work? Thanks. Inviato dal mio Lenovo P70-A utilizzando Tapatalk Edit: solved ! After connected an external monitor the egpu works also into internal over games, t530 works without any mods.
  21. unfortunately I can not; the customer (my brother) wants to use the w510 with 3D modeling programs and screen fhd is the thing that 'convinced him. if it will work 'well, I'll buy' another panel of w510 and will put it on the T530, of course I will inform 'first on cable and compatibility. edit: someone has already done an egpu setup over t530 igpu only http://blog.lastlog.de/posts/setup-1.x/ for now you just have to wait, you're very kind, thank you.
  22. @Tech Inferno Fan I hope at least to succeed, I read only cases of failure on the T530 with only iGPU in various forums in all languages .. I hope to change things, because I bought it for this project when I saw that he was among Recommended laptops. about the w510 I was right to change it or you could get similar results with a egpu? the NVIDIA Quadro FX880M also supports Optimus I saw, and I saw that AIDA64 recognize PCIExpress as 2.0 ..maybe your software could get it running well in internal display? the W510 has already 'a great screen FHD and a cpu i7-920XM extreme, I am very sorry to sell it.
  23. I'm not really familiar to use DSDT override, however, it seems to me possible to do .. but 'I'd rather do it on startup, with an external software independent from the OS (such as your setup 1.3) if it can do this ; it's sure I should 'to override, or any model works in its own way how can i know it before buy a laptop? Another doubt: the setup 1.3 write only into temporary memory or change something into bios? so is there any possibility of doing some permanent damage with wrong setup or no? the configuration must be done every times windows boot or it can remember last used one? in my Thinkpad I dual boot with 2 different ssd (use windows just to play games and ubuntu for everything else) in ubuntu I do not think I'm gonna need 'to use the external GPU, the Intel card will be' more 'than enough to play hd movies. I was also thinking of replacing the internal LCD panel with a FHD compatible with the model; do you think there will be problems in relation to egpu ? maybe using internal lcd the pci express 2.0 is too slow to hard gaming at high resolution? sorry for all these questions, I discovered the world egpu for a week and I fell in love, then I read all the forums for hours but doubts are still many.
  24. then I can sleep, I bought the right parts and the model is supported though nobody seems to have tried yet. if necessary, I'll buy 'definitely your setup. 1.30 (I'm curious to know if it works on USB drives made with great "Easy2boot" I use to install several systems operating systems each day on different computers) sorry if I insist but about the compatibility and plug and play egpu install what is better: a PC with only intel iGPU or iGPU + dgpu? thanks.
