  1. Im not runing 780m SLI, its 680m SLI. I know about the score difference, but it should have been way higher in SLI because if you compare LOAD DIFFERENCES, single GPU mode - GPU utilization is nice and even at full clocks where in SLI mode - GPU utilization never cross more than 90% per each card.

I will do unigine heaven 4.0 on extreme now, will report soon.

    EDIT:

    here it goes, single 680m:

    SLI 680m

and also screenshot of TS and gpu's utilization problem while in SLI, see the curve?

    Power draw from the wall peaked at 317 WAT's while CPU@ Stock, all fans @ max, GPUs Core's @ 901MHz & 0.987v

  2. So, here is my bit of storey,

ok here comes another m18xr2 with some weird issues

had originally latest dell VBIOS 80.04.5B.00.02

Experienced some weird issues on 3dmark firestrike and cloudgate, etc GPU was setting its clocks to whatever it was its max (was 719mhz on original vbios) but GPU load fluctuated between 76-86% etc never more. This only happened if I set my GPU's in SLI Enabled mode. If I set it to single GPU mode GPU utilization was 99% no problem.

Thought that could have been driver issue, tried all, didnt help(yes clean driver uninstall, driversweeper, ccleaner, reinstall etc)

Thought must be the VBIOS is doing something, did grab svl7 VBIOS of the same version, but did not solve the problem. Tried OV/OC nothing helped.

Temps are stable solid sub 65c etc.

Also we tried few different versions of this VBIOS still no joy... however, I come to think, either:

    My PSU is faulty?

My GPU's are on there last legs (unlikely, not stressed before)?

    My SLI cable problem?

    My motherboard problem?

After short run just to visualize what I experience here you can see what I mean:

    EDIT:

Also here is msiAB monitoring screenshot of crysis3 everything maxed out to very highest setting (v-sync OFF) OC to 901MHz GPU / OV 0.975v (monitoring @ 100ms refresh intervals)

    EDIT#2:

with help of svl7 I've downgraded to older vbios unlocked by svl7 (from 80.04.5B.00.02 to 80.04.33.00.32)

    didnt help...

    any ideas????

Tell me what do you think what can it be?

  3. @Xonar

well one thing for sure my 2 x 256GB vertex4 SSDs would support trim but its not being enabled because of old IRST OROM version (I assume)

Yea Im running RAID0 with these SSDs and I#m looking to get the best out of them. I was wondering what IRTS version come with latest GT60 and GT70 versions...if these could be extracted and merged with GT683R...

    Maximum,

Thanks for your quick reply! Do you think the unlocking of the bios is crucial for support of the ram speed and/or capacity?

my first thing Ive done was installed 32GB ram with all original BIOS and it worked just fine, I have only flashed to unlocked bios to tinker a little bit with my CPU settings

Also can you guys see and tell if I have managed to raise the bar on the power limits to be able successfully OC XM CPU's?

  4. I am currently successfully running 4 x 8GB DDR3 1600MHz from Crucial 1,35v modules, and it does run at dual channel rate of ~800MHz per channel, and by thespec sheet of intel it should not run 1600MHz memory and it should not run 32GB DDR3 memory because Im runing i7-2670QM cpu, but it runs just fine.

  5. question related to GT683R bios, is it possible to merge newest IRST OROM in to GT683R bios and is it any beneficial regarding performance wise? I know theres TRIM support on 11.xxxx version IRST OROM but latest GT683R bios still has just 10.xxxxx IRST OROM... I would highly appreciate yous input regarding this, and I would be willing to do all the tests necesarry to see if it works. Im runing GT683R

  6. The BIG question is about ordering 3940XM with brand new M18X and and yet not being able to overclock it just because of limitations of A08 bios, plus its not flashable from stock A08 to unlocked A08 as of now and maybe for a long time, or even for good now...

Another thing came to my mind - Throttlestop

How much extra can I achieve using XM CPU and just Throttlestop while maintaining stock original A08 bios? or are the TDC/TDP and multipliers still locked due to BIOS restrictions...?

Anybody here has done it/tried it yet?

    Interested to know!

  7. where is the "M18x R2 - BIOS A08 'unlocked' & Intel RST option ROM 11.6.0.1702" attached file?
Oh... right, good point.. seems I missed to upload it. Will do so.

Did I missed something? Is there an official A08 M18X R2 unlocked bios now with latest IRST OROM? How about getting brand new M18X R2 with A08 bios in it and getting this unlocked bios flashed over this stock A08?

    Thanks!
