  1. Coincidentally mine was recently broken too. By a computer shop technician!! And they did not tell me they broke it () just one side though. I opened and disconnected my dvd-write a number of times and yes that plastic bit (white colour?) only needs to be loosened to disconnect the dvd writer, not totally come off. Having said that, I am not sure why but I think mine is probably not detecting it as it does not appear in 'My Computer'. But I am pretty sure it is intact, tight and in contact even with those small end tips are broken. That white plastic bit is still inserted and in good fit position. So another problem for me is I will need to find out why is it not connected? It was not broken before and it also did not appear in My Computer (drives).
  2. I didn't count the beeps but I got beeps when I upgraded just only one of my 4GB RAMs to 8GB RAM (total 12GB RAM). That resulted in same black screen and laptop wouldn't start. So I upgraded both to 8GB RAMs and it runs fine now.. Sorry if this doesn't help though :/
  3. Will this help?? http://forum.techinferno.com/alienware-m14x-aw-14/11237-alienware-m14x.html
  4. I was very reluctant to upgrade but thanks to this thread that convinced me, I purchased and installed two Kingston 8GB PC3 12800 RAMs and they're running well. Initially tried with just one 8GB RAM new with 4GB old RAM but laptop wouldn't start and beeped. Windows Performance/Ecperience score was 7.9 with 8GB total RAMs and now with 16GB it scores higher 7.9!! ahahha oh well that is max score I hope that I did not waste money for this upgrade though ()
  5. I have the Samsung 840 Pro 512GB installed for almost 2 years I guess. It was really great and playing LoL was just fine until few months back, it all got ULTRA laggy for whatever problem. I have also noticed that there was a warning about the SSD being not fully utilized as it is on SATA II connection. Hence trying to download the 'modded' BIOS A08 update to hopefully get the SATA III speed for it. Even playing CS GO is ultra laggy it's very dissapointing!!!
