  1. I am unable to get eGPU working in windows 7 on My late 2014 Macbook Pro as I get the "error 12". Tried setup 1.30 and after I run it my GTX980ti disappear totally from device manager if I try any kind of PCI compacting. I tried setup 1.20 and there I get PCI compacting not sucsessfull every time and same result with my GTX980ti disappearing. My EGPU setup worked fine in windows 10 EFI install on external USB3 disk but you could not get internal screen to work without starting up with external monitor connected first. Performance loss with internal screen using mirroring was horrible (looked like 10-15fps even if fps counter said 60fps), a little better using spanned monitors. Having to boot up with a monitor connected kinda defeats the purpose of running an eGPU as I want to be able to travel with it. My windows 7 install is bootcamp on internal disk as I could not get USB3 working until after windows was already installed running bootcamp assistant program (tried all kinds of triks to get USB3 working for EFI install on external USB3 disk without sucksess). The new macs have only USB3 ports and windows 7 does not have the drivers for it. My hardware and software: Late 2014 Macbook Pro 15" Intel Iris Pro 5200 graphics Akitio Thunder 2 pcie case modded to take full size GPU Zotac GTX980ti AMP and Zotac GTX960 Graphics card. Corsair CX500 Windows 10 EFI install on external USB3 SSD disk without bootcamp (only did run driver install program from bootcamp assistant) Windows 7 installed on internal SSD disk using bootcamp (eGPU not working at all in win 7) Nando setup 1.30 and 1.20
  2. Have sent the money for Setup 1.30 trough pay-pal. A customized setup for Win7 would be great If that does not work I can try Win 8.1
  3. I have a late 2014 Macbook Pro 15" Intel graphics only and eGPU with Akitio T2 and GTX980ti, this setup worked fine except that optimus and internal screen did not work in Windows 10. I am now trying Win7 but get code 12 error and no working eGPU. What is the recommended OS for eGPU on my Macbook Pro to get internal screen working? I really hope to get win7 working with internal screen and eGPU as I hate windows 10 and 8. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Macbook Pro 15" late 2014 with Intel graphics only Windows 10 (win 7 code 12 error waiting for Setup 1.30) Akitio Thunder 2 Zotac GTX980ti AMP and Zotac GTX960 Corsair CX500 (PSU is overkill but molex to pcie power cables was sold out and this one was the smallest with 6+8 connection) Transend 250GB USB3 SSD disk
  4. Using optimus and internal screen does not work on my setup no matter what I try, but after what I have heard it is simply impossible to get it working in windows 10... Many people with laptops running original Nvida built in GPU with optimus also complain that the Nvidia GPU never is being used in any games no matter what they do and most of the complains if from people running Win10. I have an early 2015 Macbook Pro 15" with Intel integrated GPU running GTX980ti on Aktio Thunder 2 pcie enclosure in Windows 10 (Win7 refused to install on my USB SSD). This setup runs GTA V at 40fps-60fps with no AA, most at high/ultra and some medium settings in 4k DSR resolution on external 1080p TV. The eGPU setup works nicely otherwise and performance seems to be pretty close to a desktop computer in GTA V after I reduced CPU volt by 100mv in Intel overclocking tool giving a heat reduction of 20% combined with fan profile running 100% from 60 Celsius instead of stock 80. Without this it would overheat and trottle down badly when running max allowable turbo boost of 3.4ghz when all 4 + 4 virtual cores is being used in GTA V. For some strange reason GTA V use more CPU in the menus than in the game (average 30-40% usage in game). I am plagued by an bug in Intel Iris integrated GPU causing 100% usage on CPU core 0 all the time (system interrupts). There is only 2 ways to stop the CPU core running wild and overheating my laptop: 1) Closing lid and letting computer hibernate, when waking up CPU usage is normal. 2) Disabling Intel Iris GPU. After I installed eGPU option 1 does not work anymore as it is impossible to put computer into hibernate. Most of the time my eGPU setup works fine without doing anything special during startup, but sometimes I have to turn on the eGPU power 6-7 seconds after I start windows boot or it will just hang with black screen. When that happens you can also hear the Macbook cooling fans slowly speeding up to full speed as it gets really hot.

  6. I have an early 2015 Macbook Pro 15" with Intel Iris graphics only and I am not able to get optimus GPU switching to work in Windows 10 and win7 will not install on my USB SSD disk. I have tried reinstalling many times, tired all kinds of drivers and I simply can not get it to use my GTX980ti instead of the Intel iris integrated one in games using the internal screen. Only way to get games to use my GTX980ti (or GTX960) on the internal screen is to start running on external monitor only. After it has started on the external monitor with eGPU it is possible to activate mirrored mode with horrible performance loss on the laptop screen (looks like I get 10-20fps even if fps counter say 60-80fps). A better way is to run the game is in window mode and spanned monitors dragging the game to the internal display monitor. Doing it that way I get much better picture rates (looks like 30-40fps). Having to start all games on a external monitor defeats the whole purpose of having an eGPU with a laptop as you must bring with you a huge monitor on travel just to get it started... Have been looking into programs running a virtual monitor to get the eGPU believing it has a monitor attached so I that I at least can get it running but have had no luck this far findings such a program (only find people with the same problem looking for it). There is lot of people with original dual GPU laptops (Intel and Nvida) having similar problem also complaining that optimus is not working and they never get it to use the Nvida GPU in games. Problems with optimus seems to be with all windows versions but win10 seems to be totally bonkers... I also have an additional problem that my Intel Iris graphics causes 100% CPU usage on CPU-0 (with system interrupts) all the time resulting in CPU overheating (85-90 Celsius at idle) and only way to stop it is putting my laptop in sleep and waking it up. But when I install an eGPU sleep does not work and only way to stop it is disabling Intel Iris graphics. This problem have been around for 2-3 years on all brands of laptops with Intel graphics. No one have come up with a solution that works for all and Intel just pretends the problem does not exist while many laptop owners is unaware of the reason for their computer getting hot and having short battery life...
