It's V2.4, and no it's not the Dell adapter - it's one I had lying around from another project . The 2570P should be very similar to my set-up. It was fairly easy to get running, but not plug-n-play. I had to update the laptop BIOS, then install the NVIDIA optimus drivers (I seem to recall there was a bit of fiddling round in configuration files to get this to work). Once it was all set up then the eGPU was plug-n-play though, you just booted the laptop then plugged it in, and it worked. I didn't use setup1.x I'll send you an e-mail with some more details tomorrow when I have a bit more time. Cheers!

EDIT : I've sold it. Thanks everyone! I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post this here, but I've upgraded my laptop and so I'm selling my external GPU. I've been using it with my HP Elitebook 2540p, and it's been great for gaming. It uses the PE4H adaptor with a 34mm expresscard. $120 USD I can sort out shipping to most places, or a discount if you pick up (Christchurch, New Zealand). Now that I've got a bit of spare time again, I'm following up a problem of mine from a while back. Namely, getting things running on the internal monitor (Elitebook 2540p with a GTX560+PE4H). From previously: The troubleshooting FAQ mentions that the eGPU should be plugged in at boot (pressing F8 to pause the startup sequence), however I've tried this multiple times without success. Perhaps I'm doing the eGPU power-on & connection in the wrong sequence? However I feel I've tried every possible combination and nothing so far has worked. Has anyone else had the same problem and solved it? What am I doing wrong?, and what else should I be trying?

Thanks for the reply Nando , and it was a good suggestion - it turns out the GTX wasn't rendering things on the internal LCD at all. If I ran ME in a window on the external monitor and dragged it across, everything ran with the expected high performance. Playing around a bit, it seems that acceleration works fine on both the external and internal monitor so long as the external monitor is set as the primary display. As soon as I unplugged the external monitor, everything seemed to switch back to the internal GPU. Likewise, if I left the external monitor plugged in (via the eGPU) but set the internal LCD to primary, everything appeared to be rendered with the integrated gpu or at least run equally slowly - even on the external monitor. Setting the NVIDIA control panel 'preferred graphics processor' to the GTX560 didn't seem to affect anything.

Hi All, I posted on NBR just as everything collapsed, so I'm glad to see the DIY eGPU community has found a new home. Now that things are up and running again, I figured I'd re-post my case and questions here. Apologies to those of you reading this post for the second time. After getting sick of having wires all over my desk, I designed and built a case for my GTX560/PE4H eGPU out of laser-cut acrylic. I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out! [....] Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions as to why this is? Edit: I did get the internal/external screen issue solved in the end and it's been working wonderfully for over a year now. And again a huge thanks to everyone for posting their results and builds, I'd never have got this working without such a wealth of information. .
