  1. No , i dont know any official ratio. Like I said, every GPU chip has different settings that work. You can try different values and always come down to these, if those dont work. For me, I found a sweet spot, as mentioned in my earlier screenshots. Any game and the temps dont go higher than 80 for me.
  2. I am sure this forum has more intelligent people than myself however I can tell you that undervolting is definitely not going to harm your chip when done in reasonable boundaries. Basic concept - The GPU needs a certain voltage to achieve the higher clocks. Some GPUs can achieve their higher clocks at a lower voltage as well, which essentially reduces the heat generated in the chip from voltage (Undervolting) Reducing the clocks decreases the stress on the chip at a given voltage. Main objective - To find a voltage and clock combination that will reduce heat and give a stable system. Now, certain GPUs may not show temp drop even after undervolting, this is just due to the way it has been manufactured. No 2 chips are the same and wont behave the same. All I can recommend is you can drop the voltage by 125mV and reduce the Base clock by 100 and Memory clock by 250, see if that helps.
  3. The cache voltage is fine. You underclocked both settings - Base clock (-50) and memory clock (-100)? You can try reducing the voltage further to -100mV, keeping the clocks at same level and see if there are any crashes. I have applied this mod also. Try running GPU-z when you are playing the game, to see what max clocks the GPU is reaching, post a screenshot of the graph and values screen of GPU-z.
  4. Here are the settings I have applied on both my main GPU and Ultrabay GPU. You may also want to use NVIDIA Extreme Tuning Utility to reduce your CPU turbo clocking, to help reduce temps. Look at the values I have highlighted in the screenshot -
  5. You only need to flash the Ultrabay. (1) The BIOS flash takes care of the Main GPU.
  6. I have not tried it and wont try it. Why? Because Y510p is officially not supported by Lenovo for Win 10. My advise to keep a gaming rig running is to stay on win 8.1 as most games run on that OS. As for observations around the forums I have gathered that you may encounter either of these problems - 1) Unable to adjust brightness 2) Wifi stops working (Big Issue on both 7260 and 2230 chips) 3) Lenovo support apps stop working. 4) BSOD Only a couple of users have reported W10 success on Y510p.
  7. Just to put in my experience, my CPU was reaching about 85 celsius under heavy gaming load, my bigger problem was Ultrabay which was going to 98 celsius. Installed the modded BIOS and undervolted both Main and Ultrabay GPUs by 87.5mV (Value -87.5mV) Used Intel XTU to reduce the Core 3 and Core 4 clock multipliers to 27x. (I think this is what you should try - You wont lose much performance) My current CPU temps dont ever go beyond 75 celsius, playing Dragon Age Inquisition/Shadow of mordor on high settings. I dont know what is CPPC, but if you need feedback I can refresh my knowledge with that.
  8. 1) Well, switch off Wifi and try playing. Do you see any improvement? 2) Try uninstalling the GPU drivers (Control Panel > Device Manager and Programs & Features) Install a fresh set of drivers, maybe download an earlier version say 347.25, to test first. (If you need detailed instructions on a CLEAN INSTALL, let me know) 3) In DXdiag, see what is your Display tab showing. 4) Download CPUHW Monitor, run it and play a game. See what is the activity on your CPU and GPU. 5) Play a simple youtube video (Full HD), does it play well? Set your modded BIOS to defaults. I also modded the BIOS but never had such issue. Also, before doing the mod, I read through like 165 pages (yes all) and found no such issue.
  9. First off, if you have read enough, you should know NOT to change GPU setting in the BIOS. It might brick your system. Now, coming to your fps issue. 1) Which game are you playing 2) what is the fps 3) what is the temp of CPU/GPU 4) What is your GPU driver version? 5) Have you confirmed SLI is enabled in NVIDIA Control panel? 6) Can you post screenshots of NVIDIA driver version/DXdiag?
  10. Looking at all the troubleshooting that you have done, you might just have damaged the GPU chip with the wrong power supply (or maybe it was already damaged, if you bought the laptop recently). I have seen that error but usually it gets fixed by resetting windows. You have a custom BIOS, so that doesnt help either.
  11. My Ultrabay was doing the same. No crashes but temp was 98 degree celsius. Here is a copy of my post if you want some suggestions to bring down the temps - 1) You can install the unlocked BIOS and VBIOS mod mentioned here - Lenovo Y410p / Y510p - unlocked BIOS / wlan whitelist mod / vbios mod Then use NVIDIA Inspector to, Reduce clocks on both GPU by 100 Mhz Reduce voltage on both GPU by 87.5 mV and you laptop will never go beyond 80 C on any of them. 2) Use NVIDIA XTU to downclock your CPUs at Core 3 and 4. I have mine set at 27x. 3) Do the Y510P casing mod to provide good cooling for the Ultrabay fan. https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-...1533688#M78976 Note - Mod in Step 3 will void your warranty. Do, with all those mods and an ambient temp of 32-35 C these are my current temps (Playing BF3, Dragon Age inquisition, Shadow of mordor on Med/High) - CPU max - 78 Main GPU max - 79 Ultrabay GPU max - 79 I am still playing and after 3 months of these mods my laptop does not go beyond 79 degrees on any component.
  12. Sorry for delayed response. As I mentioned, the clock speed reduced by 100. Voltage reduced by 87.5 (On the slider, slide it towards left till you hit -87.5) The Save this configuration on your desktop. Each time you restart the laptop, you can click on this configuration file (which will have same icon as NVIDIA inspector) to set the required values. You can play the games after that. If crash happens, post a screenshot of your NVIDIA inspector showing what you have modified. Thanks.
  13. For the Y510p, the recommended power brick should be 120W. (Get the official Lenovo one) If your system is SLI, then you need a 170W power adapter.
  14. Like NonXtreme said, every chip is different and you will have to find the voltage that works best for you. Some chips may not even allow undervolting, sometimes thats the way it is.
  15. FOR CPU Your CPU is running too hot, try to cool it down by using INTEL XTU. Turn the 3 core and 4 core setting down to 27x and the voltage to -50mV. Watch this youtube video, if necessary - FOR GPU I did not modify any setting in BIOS, but I am using an unlocked BIOS which enables NVIDIA Inspector to change the clocks and voltage of the GPUs. Reducing voltage upto a certain limit does not affect performance and keeps the system cool. Please read point 1 in my previous post for GPU undervolting and downclocking.
