  1. if youre only going to be using it for gaming don't use the 5820k its waste of money and will be extremely under utilized. That's a 6 core with hyperthreading so basically a 12 core processor that's better for a virtualization rigs. I have a 5820 in my rig but I do a lot of virtualizing for testing products and whatnot. Even then when im running 3 or 4 VM's it still not really pushing it all that hard. If I was you Id go for a 4790 itll work perfectly for your needs.
  2. the simple way to check is to try a different channel on your router. most are preset to channel 11 and nobody changes them so interference is everywhere. many wireless devices use common channels as well 11,5. Try changing it to another and see if that helps
  3. 4th Gen will be plenty like jtoman said the 4790 will be plenty for just gaming and putzing around the interwebs. After that you get into 6 core with hyperthreading and virtualization support all stuff that's unneeded for a 95% gaming rig.
  4. Like the other 2 gents said a second router will act as WAP. Another simple solution would be to get a repeater that plugs into one of your power outlets in your garage I use one and it boosts my signal another 25 yards or so. (works perfectly)
  5. StevenMal If youre gonna go with a laptop I would go with the MSI GS70 MSI GS70 Stealth Pro-003 Gaming Laptop Intel Core i7 4710HQ (2.50GHz) 16GB Memory 1TB HDD 256 GB SSD(128 GB mSATA SSD x 2 RAID 0)NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970M 3GB 17.3" Windows 8.1 64-Bit Multi-language - Newegg.com . I don't have one personally but I have a buddy I game with a lot and this thing blazes by my y510p consistently. Plus MSI is a top brand when it comes to gaming PC's I have heard the customer service is top grade too. It may be worth looking into.
  6. Truthfully it all depends what you want to use the SLI slot for. I have never seen much of a reason to have dual GPU so I instead added the drive caddy and swapped a SSD into my onboard SATA port then a spinning drive for storage. I also have the M.2 slot and use a 256g my digital ssd that to run my games off of. The PC flies with a RAM upgrade and the right config without necessarily needing dual GPU. just make sure you get one with the i7 and the m.2 slot or you'll end up regretting it later on.
