  1. Hey Brainiac92 I have a similar problem except that my 970m shows up in device manager but nVidia control panel wont open up. If i try to switch graphic cards manually, i get the dreaded 8 beeps on boot up. Somehow the driver is seeing the card installed but not switching to it. Laptop info: AW m17x r4 Old card: 7970m New card: GTX 970m BIOS: A12 Power brick: 240W I set the BIOS to UEFi but that doesnt seem to solve the problem either. Did you have to do any other BIOS settings that i should know of? Thanks in advance for your help!
  2. Hello J95..went over a lot of info over the internet and you seem like the most helpful person out there. Wondering if you can help me out with an issue i am having. I recently got a GTX 970m for my Alienware 17x r4 which had 7970m installed previously. I just can't get the graphics card to work. I am on the A12 BIOS and Windows 7. Steps taken so far: 1) Removed 7970m from slot, rebooted in safe mode and uninstalled AMD drivers using DDU. 2) Powered down, fixed the new 970m into slot, put everything back together. 3) Booted up and installed the latest nVidia drivers. 4) Can see the graphics card in device manager now but can't run any graphic intensive games. 5) Looked at some forums and changed boot mode to UEFI but that didnt help either. 6) Pressed the "FN+F7" keys and rebooted. 7) Got the dreaded 8 beep, shut down, removed card, booted back up, installed card again and now have laptop working back to when i did not have the drivers installed. The questions i have for you are (if you have time to answer) 1) Do i have the wrong BIOS version for optimus? I do not see any switchable graphics option enabled in the BIOS screen, just that it detects primary and discreet graphics. 2) Are the latest nVidia drivers not suitable for the 970m on my alienware? Device ID: PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_13D8&SUBSYS_05511028&REV_A1 PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_13D8&SUBSYS_05511028 PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_13D8&CC_030000 PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_13D8&CC_0300 Please let me know if you need any more info to help me figure this one out. Thank you.
