  1. Some new high quality screenshots, however this enb may not suits everyone tastes. These are all ultra HD 21/9 screenshots (3840x1620) 12 images v v v v v v v v
  2. I can't believe that's all I have that looks decent. Rest of my stuff is screenshots of bugs lol.... Here I am a 25.4 Million pixels screenshot of Skyrim (6720x3780) Still 8FPS but massively laggy because 6Gb of VRAM isn't even enough. I use tons of super HD textures (Mostly 4K and 2K textures), Higher poly counts meshes mods, Parallax textures etc (Texture folder : 31Gb) I also have Saraan Suum ENB that I tweaked a bit, here it is not popping like some other colorfull ENB but it makes cloudy morning rather cold and refreshing I'll post many other soon! I have some quite more impressive coming, this one is just the resolution king I have. I have many 21/9 3840x1620 screenshots to share and a lot in 1080p since I only have a 1080p monitor. Don't forget to right clic and show image
  3. Hey guys, Well I wanted to share with you that Battlefield 3 is free at the moment on origin ! I guess it's a limited offer, and there's no tricks. Grab it here : https://www.origin.com/fr-fr/store/buy/battlefield-3/pc-download/base-game/standard-edition Don't mind the fr-fr it should change to your language automatically. Also, there Plants vs Zombie that you can grab for free as well : https://www.origin.com/fr-fr/store/buy/plants-vs-zombies/mac-pc-download/base-game/standard-edition Enjoy
  4. What trick do you use to set 1.250v ? Did you use msi afterburner tweak which allows up too 1.3v ? Cuz I tried it, and my core voltage was fluctuating way too much, I had tried 1.241v I think, but it was varying from 1.2v to 1.241v in bench or games... Did you manage to get it stable ?
  5. ^ You could download it twice but twice different way, once with a download manager and then without and then compare the checksum, if they are the same then you don't need to worry, I guess the chance you get two corrupted files with the same hashes is the same to meet an alien speaking english. - - - Updated - - - I couldn't do much testing, but everything works very well, I'm not sure why, but my titan feels a little bit more stable at high overclocking, I could run a firestrike at 1215/7020 @1.212v, while before 1215/6008 would crash before the end, and I checked it didn't throttled at all. Thanks a lot for the release I'm going to try the downsampling version soon.
  6. It's quite smaller than your previous v03, 197kb vs 229kb, I guess it's normal, what explains the differences ? edit: I've just flashed it, and it went fine. Idling voltage is great ! now my titan is idling at 0.825v instead of 0.887v hopefully it will idle cooler too, I was idling at 21°C to 24°C before hopefully it gets even lower. oddly enough GPU-Z report bios version : 80.10.3E.00.02 wasn't it supposed to be 80.10.3E.00.01 ? edit2: – ‘Boost 2.0′ disabled OK ! – voltage adjustable up to 1.2125V OK ! but MSI afterburner can't set higher than 1.125v, need nvidia inspector instead. – undervolting possible OK ! – idles normally OK ! – default power target set to 350W OK ! – fan adjustable up to 100% OK ! – normal fan behavior OK ! – lower idle voltages OK ! 0.825v
  7. I know he tried the beta, and it seems to run really well, like 60 fps most of the time (vsync on) in 1680x1050 with ultra settings. I'll add a picture for you to see exactly where to cut the backplate (this is really the only way... don't try to do it without backplate for instance you'd break the Z if you open it without backplate.)
  8. Thanks for clearing it up! Yeah I did know that pci-e compression feature from optimus would only engage with x1 link, I though it was the same for internal rendering. The macbook pro 15" retina, without dGPU, is such an interesting product... too bad it's very expensive and that TB adapters are pricey too and too bad intelapple forced hwtools to discontinue the TH05... It's very disappointing that just a few manufacturer dare to implement thunderbolt into a few of their notebooks...
  9. I'm very interested into TB 2 ! Actually I wasn't much interested into TB 1 since it was a little disappointing having similar performance to X1.2opt on external display. So, how can your render on the internal monitor, with the eGPU ? Because Optimus can't want with X2/X4 ? Because I see that in the eGPU candidate list, the 15" retnia without 750M is recommended for optimus internal LCD mode, but since it's X2 or X4 it can't work ? The only thing that come to my mind to get X1 on TB is to put scotch tape on the PCI-e of the GPU to make it working in X1 instead X4. But this also kills the performance, I mean, on my eGPU in X1.2opt I cannot get more than 51fps in full HD I can't even imagine it in retina, it should be arround 23 fps with my calculations... So @Tech Inferno Fan how did you get such a good performance with your macbook on internal LCD ? did you use optimus or did you use ultramon chungmung ? Maybe I didn't get something correctly, does optimus internal LCD work for any setup with an nvidia GPU and intel HD ? If yes then it's Optimus compression which only work with X1 right ? I'm confused now...
  10. You really shouldn't try furmark, it's only good to burn VRMs, actually I don't think it's very risky on a lightning thanks to its good design and nice amount of vrms, but a reference GTX 680 at 285W could be in danger. I have a friend who burnt his 780 with this crapware at 160% of power limit, that was rougly 400W though.
  11. Since it does not seem to have an expresscard port, you will need to find an accessible mPCI-e interface, this mean you will have to open your laptop to see if behind its bottom plate there's mPCI-e you could use. I'cve done the same on my laptop an I've even made a hole for my eGPU. But with your laptop you won't be able to benefit from optimus features which improve the eGPU performances and allow internal rendering (Optimus allows internal rendering even if the eGPU is not physically connected to your laptop monitor).
  12. Well then you can always set you port to gen1 in the Setup 1.X and compare with gen2, setting your port to gen1 should give you the very same performance you had before with the PE4H.
  13. Dun worry about the 3DMark 06 score, it's not reliable for GPU performance... It is way too much CPU dependant, I think you simply cannot get better even with gen3 speed as long as you keep the same CPU, it explains the very similar scores. Even having a faster card wouldn't help much. You'd better compare 3DMark Vantage, or even 11 or the latest 3DMark 2013 to see improvement from X1.1opt to X1.2opt.
  14. PEAH 2.4 does not support gen2 speed. it's way better to go for a PE4L-PMXXXA which supports gen2 just like your laptop. - - - Updated - - - I use mPCI-e too and it's not a full-size either, yet I have sligthly more space, I guess it would work on your laptop aswell, the PE4L can, at some point, be plugged obliquely. If u can try to plug a full-size mPCIe device if it works obliquely then the PE4L will fit easily.
  15. the thing is the 780 is not really ready for 4K with recent games it's already overkill for my titan oc (1202/7020), at least for what I've tried, I simulated by forcing gpu to render in 4K before downsampling it to 1080p, it was on my heavily modded skyrim : 10-25 fps. you'd need a sli or tri way sli for 4k. Also with such an insane resolution 3gb of vram may not be enough for some games, for nowadays games it could be ok most of the time but next gen games, hmmm I'm not so sure especially because of next console will have plenty for RAM available for the GPU. Why not wait for few days for the R9 290X release it may even be faster than the GTX 780 with more VRAM. also there are some very fast gtx 780 on air like the galaxy HOF which will oc higher than 1300mhz, I'm not that sure the hydro copper can go this fast.
  16. Seemingly, to engage the optimus compression, the nvidia driver detects that your eGPU is connected to a PCI-e X1 port, and then if there is an intel HD graphic (not sure if with an amd iGPU it would work, but I'm not even sure there's AMD iGPU, I don't know about AMD APU either). Nvidia drivers' since 300 series, automatically engage optimus feature if your laptop meet the requirements stated above. Before we had to tweak some files with notepad. But for the moment, sadly, Optimus won't engage with anything else than X1. Thus Thunderbolt eGPU can't benefit from optimus feature :/ because they use X2 PCI-e port... So With X1.2opt set and TB X2 2.0 we get approximately the same performances on an external monitor as long as the CPU is good enough for bandwidth compression. But TB offers much more performance on internal rendering. @Orowheat For me it worked well on internal LCD with driver 314.22, 326.80 and 327.23... what I advice you is to completely uninstall any nvidia driver, first use the common way in windows control panel, then download DriverSweeper 3.2.0 and Analyze nvidia drivers and software then Clean. Then try to reinstall your nvidia driver with your eGPU attached and reboot. Also you want the desktop version, not the notebook version but if you want to try the notebook version it's possible but you'll have to add your GPU into some a file, like nv_disp.inf if I recall correctly.
  17. Of course he can benefit from Optimus compression without an nvidia dGPU. The only requirement is to get an intel iGPU (at least intel 4500MHD so even old laptop with intel core 2 duo can get it too). So I do have myself optimus compression on my laptop, I use zero trick for internal rendering but optimus alone.
  18. Well then I might go for the PM100A, not sure yet
  19. The other way round lol Yeah I was thinking the same lol, fortunately we got way much more performance than 1/15th, it's hard to understand that X16 2.0, in some games, allows some more fps than X16 1.1 which is still much faster than our poor X1.2opt I bet 1.3opt wouldn't increase a lot the performance on the external LCD (not as much as X1.2Opt did compared to X1.1opt) but on internal it would be really enjoyable! especially for me with a 2million pixel internal monitor x__x.
  20. Wow that's a huge difference but it makes sense ! It's nearly 15X more. It's interesting to see how good the performance even with such a reduced bandwidth... I guess the driver are very well made too! Btw, I've read a very interesting (french) article on GPU and their VRAM amount. (translated) They've even tested their modded skyrim which consumed up to 2.5Gb of VRAM, and agaisnt my expectation they didn't suffer from FPS degradation at all (or almost) on their 2GB graphic card, but this seemed to be thanks to the very fast PCI-e gen3. This is not true at all with eGPU as far as I know. I had horrible lags with my 2GB GPU, and it became much much more smoother with a 4GB. So this is an other issue which can be associated to eGPU I guess, due to limited bandwidth on the PCI-e port, exceeding in game the VRAM amount of the eGPU results in stutters and a significiant fps decrease. Oh gosh, and I have advised more than 2Gb card to many people who were hesitating between 2 or 4gb video cards, although I always precised it could be usefull for skyrim only, while it doesn't make much difference. But I wonder what it would be like with my insane skyrim which consumes over 4gb as soon as I enter a town (1080p) I guess it could affect the 2gb gpu. my highest record btw VRAM + RAM was 8.5gb (more or less)
  21. It seems the length of the PE4L doesn't influence the performance since the bandwidth was not lower for naturbot2000
  22. Thanks Nando, I'm going to add these values, but what do yo think should I look at ? Pinned or Pagable ? What do they mean ? Comparing to your captures from CUDA-Z it seems SiSoftware Sandra reports the Pinned. Device to Host seems very interesting btw ! But you can't get these insane FPS when your eGPU is connected and when you only use your internal monitor for it, can you ? Also, you need to performs this test on fullscreen as windowed can affect the performance. (51 to 47 for me on 1080p) If with Osu! it does just like I imagine, then it could be an even better test since it is free & light, don't you think ?
  23. Ok thanks for the details, and pointing out mistakes, I'm going to correct them and re-organize my table. For the testing I used Skyrim main menu, where I use to get a lot of FPS with the external monitor. When I have a lot of FPS on the external monitor (like 150+) then it becomes very easy to determine my FPS cap on the internal LCD. So this can certainly be done with any game that provides a lot of FPS in the main menu. I'm going to add different resolution to the table to include 16/10 1280x800. it also seems that the FPS cap is completly dependent on the resolution on my system, for example I get 44% more fps when there are 44% less pixel to display (1080p to 900p).
