der8auer deliding a 6950x processor has soldered heat spreader scraping the excess solder of the chip with a razer blade @ 10:23 lowering of temps at @17:08 delidding lowers the temps even on a soldered chip as of the thickness of the solder & the glue that holds the lid on, the glue actually lifts the heat-spreader off of the cpu die by a small amount proven by Idontcare over on annadtech forums back on the i7 3770k http://forums.anandtech.com/showpost.php?p=34053183&postcount=570 look at he Intel TIM out preforming NT-H1 !

@Plaegdraegherit depends on what operating system if your on windows 7 it will only work with optimums. Its a problem with the UEFI. to get it to work with dedicated & optimus you need to bee running in pure UEFI with GPT. with win 7 its need part of it self in MBR to boot. it can be done on win 8 & above but you will need to have your drive formatted as GPT

Yeah id looked in there before but found it hard to navigate to find the right information, i think i had been looking at posts related to different systems to mine as i could only find stuff that was saying to need 8 or above but I've started to find the right pages now thank you

Thank you I had no idea it would work with win 7 would you be able to point me in the direction of a post or a thread that tells me how to get it work. As when I've looked i could only find people to get it to work in 8.1 & 10. I guess its not as simple as: driver clean, swap, install modded drivers? don't i need to run it in UEFI mode?

Hi all, I have just brought a gtx980m and was wondering what OS people would suggest to move to 10 or 8.1 (I use 7 atm) any advice/ experience & or tips would be greatly appreciated also would it be worth getting a 330w psu? (i have a 240 atm)
