I don't have the synaptics/touchpad software installed. I was hoping I could disable it without installing software.

Anyone know how to have the touchpad default to off without adding software? I normally use usb mouse and use Fn+F1 to turn it off every time I start up. I'd like to reverse that behavior...have it startup with the touchpad off and use Fn+F1 if I need to turn it on. It's a Sager NP9170/P170EM.

Anyone else experiencing Win10 capping fps at 60 when using DX11 applications? I'm using P170EM w/980m.

An issue I'm seeing that I can't figure out: FFXIV is limited to 60 fps when using DX11. This happens for me both in the Heavensward benchmark and in the game. Framerate is not limited when running in DX9 mode. I've disabled the Xbox DVR app, disabled vsync, uninstalled/reinstalled drivers, verified DX is up to date, checked setting in FFXIV and the benchmark...all with no luck. The limited fps normally wouldn't be a big deal since I have a 60hz monitor, but there are screen tears when I play the game on Win10. Win7 on the same machine runs fine with no capped frame rates. Edit: Confirmed the same behavior with Unigine Heaven benchmark, so it's not unique to FFXIV. Running full screen only, DirectX 11 only, my framerate is limited to 60 fps. FPS is not limited when running DX11 in non-full screen or when running DX9 in full screen or windowed mode. Anyone having the same issue??

That's normal and I see the same message before I flash my card. Someone else may be able to tell you exactly what the PCI subsystem ID is or why it doesn't matter that there is a mismatch. Then again, the explanation might not be quick

Well, I uninstalled both my Nvidia and Intel drivers w/DDU, installed Nvidia 353.62 (versus previous version 353.50) and then reinstalled Intel drivers via windows update. Not sure which one of those fixed it, but the dedicated card is working. Interesting. I do have to disable driver signature enforcement to get the drivers to install w/modded .inf in W10. I don't recall having to do this in Windows 7.

Previously I was running tech preview 101xx and driver version 352.84. Optimus never switched to my dedicated card and I grew tired of tinkering with it. I just installed the 10240 tech preview (supposedly the same as RTM W10) and installed NVidia driver version 353.50...same results. The drivers install fine w/modded .inf, the 980m is present and recognized by windows, gpu-z, etc. but it doesn't switch from the Intel 4000 card.

Lombar, did you install through the upgrade procedure or through separate media? I'm pretty sure I could install with a disk and get it to work. With the free upgrade from Win7/Win8, I don't know how they plan to allow people to do fresh installs. I was assuming somewhere along the upgrade process, you got your win10 key. Prema, I'm sure you're right...my thought was that it was something related to the same reason you have to use a modded .inf to get Nvidia drivers installed. I still have my 670mx at home, but I'm out of the country for the next 10 months. I don't necessarily need to upgrade now...was going mirror my current OS and upgrade on a separate disk to see how I liked Win10.

Hey guys. I've got a P170EM/NP9170 w/980m upgrade. Has anyone gotten Windows 10 to play nice after upgrading their card? I had the tech preview and could never get the optimus to switch to the 980m, but was able to install the tech preview. Now the Windows 10 upgrade through windows update is saying my PC doesn't meet system requirements "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980M The display manufacturer hasn't made your display compatible with Windows 10" is the message from windows update. I'm running Prema's bios and vbios on the card. NVidia has published WHQL drivers out for Windows 10, so I'm not sure why the upgrade is saying the display isn't compatible...

Has anyone running Windows 10 technical preview got their 980m to work? I'm having no luck getting my p170em to switch from the Intel GPU. Using 352.84 drivers.

Shadowplay is installed separately from the driver along with GeForce Experience yes? I usually don't install it. When you say you don't have all the bells and whistles, do you mean the options in the NVIDIA Control Panel? The only option I've ever had was 3d Settings, both with my 670mx and the 980m. The rest of the normal NVIDIA options aren't there...something to do with Optimus.

You're actually running cooler than I am. I'm closer to 80°C at full load. Idling around 42°C.

I wonder if the power supply for the P377SM-A is compatible...Delta ADP-330AB-D. It's 330W. Should be able to find that easily.

Do you need a new processor? My P170EM has a 3630QM and it seems to be handling the card just fine. Already had the 230W power supply so the upgrade only cost a little over $700. Seems to be a decent deal for hopefully extending the life of the laptop another year or two.

I have the P170EM and just installed my 980m. I can confirm it's working at 100% with 350.12. The driver from NVidia didn't work without the modded .inf. I got my modded .inf here: LaptopVideo2Go: Drivers.
