Really nice to see Windows 7 is usable with the 9xx series, I'm sick of windows 10 I had nothing but problems with it on my M18x R2. Just saw someone selling a 980m 8gb for £300, might take up there offer now.

Just a quick question but do you have the service manual at hand to help you with the disassembly ?

My M18X-R2 came with Bios A11 which I stupidly updated to A12, has anyone figured out yet if I can downgrade to use the unlocked Bios ? I am rather new at all this stuff so please forgive my stupidity

Bought my M18X-R2 of Ebay really loving it and works perfectly except for some of the Alien FX lights. For a while the left speaker light was working but rather dim compared to the right speaker, now it no longer works but sometimes when booting it comes on like it should but goes dead again. The macro keys also do not light up only number 5 lights up properly. I can clearly the LED's are on under the other macro buttons but like the speaker they are very dim compared to button 5. Finally when using the media button for WiFi I end up having to press rather hard to get it to work. The other buttons on the other hand only need me to press a little before feeling a little "pop" ( sorry is this is confusing ) Is this normal or does the media board need replacing ?

The plastic clips are part of the motherboard and cannot be replaced, you will need to purchase a new motherboard I am afraid. Also like everyone else has said there should be no torx screws in these laptops. Where did you get this laptop from ? I know it has been a few months but I hope you have managed to fix this problem by now.

Anyone know what is a decent price for a M18X-R2 motherboard should be ? I been having problems with the lights on my speaker and macro keys which people are saying is a motherboard problem
