  1. No no, not just PSU. 300W from PSU+The 75W provided from the adapter connected to the box. So this: http://www.akitio.com/faq/270-thunder2-pcie-box-what-s-the-maximum-power-output-through-the-pcie-slot Plus our GPU.
  2. I see. But other than PCIe power adapters(8pins and/or 6pins), Akitio can only provide 75W right? So if we have a 300W PSU, and our GPU consumes 325~330W peak, it should be enough?
  3. Do we still have to feed Akitio Thunder2 if we are certain we're powering our GPU with a right amount of power? I figured we do, but just asking to make sure.
  4. I'm not certain how to check the setting you said. If you can be a little more specific, I'll definitely check! But let me explain the display situation in another way: So if I close GT750m, Iris Pro works on its own. If I open GT750m, I can use it with Nvidia Optimus driver. Theoretically if we plug an external GPU using Thunderbolt, we must be able to use it with Iris Pro+Nvidia Optimus usig internel monitor... Unfortunately I can't test this, because currently I don't have the hardware needed.
  5. I just found an actual solution. https://www.reddit.com/r/apple/comments/354vw8/howto_enabling_the_intel_iris_in_bootcamp_650m750m/ It works, here is a screenshot from my device http://i.hizliresim.com/yoaA80.png The thing is, you have to flash the EFI everytime you boot via rEFInd. And I'm having some issues with resolution, but I guess it's manageable with Intel app.
  6. Hi guys, I have an eGPU project, but I'm limited on budget. Here is my -planned- rig: 2013 rMBP w/ GT750M(ME294) Akitio Thunder2 Corsair CX430 EVGA GTX 970 *insert any model here* So the question is, will I be able to run this rig with the internal display, and I really don't want to buy a monitor. Some peeps wrote about Nvidia Optimus, but I don't know what it is. So If you can explain, or drop a link about optimus-internal monitor relation, that would be great. Addition: I will run the system on Windows 10, or downgrade to 8.1 depending on your answer. Thanks and enjoy your systems:Banane04:
  7. 1. You need another disk because you have to boot the computer via USB. Either connect another disk or a USB drive. The reason you need bootcamp is that it will install drivers into windows files. So after setup you don't have to install any drivers. 2. Read fourth reply. 3. -- 4. refer to second answer.
  8. RE: http://forum.techinferno.com/implementation-guides-apple/7879-2013-13-macbook-pro-gtx970%4016gbps-tb2-akitio-thunder2-win8-1-osx10-10-%5Bdschijn.html On Akitio Thunder2 site, it says the product is not compatible with bootcamp, and cannot used with GPUs. Did you had any problems with bootcamp or using your gpu?
  9. Thank you. I'm multiTYRT from youtube I had some questions but I read your guide, it's so useful. Thank you again for a guide like that. Thanks again, it looks like there is a huge difference between mPCI-e and TB.
  10. First, thank you for your reply. So you're saying that using a direct Thunderbolt feeder(I mean AKiTiO Thunder2) is way more logical, way more powerful. Am I right?
  11. Hi guys, I'm going to buy EXP GDC Beast or PE4C, which one i should buy i'm not decided yet. But I have a more important question than choosing. I see both of set-ups using HDMI to any PCI port. I'm using a MBP(i7 4850HQ, GT750m) so I have to use thunderbolt. I think that can I use a direct HDMI-to-Thunderbolt converter instead of ExpressCard-to-Thunderbolt converter? Because If I have to use ExpressCard-to-Thunderbolt, I have to convert it with a Sonnet Echo ExpressCard Pro(which is an expensive way to use thunderbolt.) I think there is no difference two ways to use Thunderbolt. I really need help about this, because Sonnet Echo ExpressCard Pro is too pricey($170)
