  1. i think theres a possibility that it is a bit faster, but my guess would be that one can achieve the additional perfomance through overclocking the 555m GT.. The question is, how good of a overclocker is the 635m.. But however it may perform, it doesn't look like a worthy sucessor BTW, I compared almost all specs and I think the only difference was the pixel fillrate (about 14 for the 555m GT and about 16 for the 635m GT)
  2. another source: http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-GT-635M.66964.0.html
  3. hi guys, now we have the official datasheet! can anyone spot a difference? i havent checked yet http://www.geforce.com/Active/en_US/en_US/pdf/Specifications-GeForce-610M-GT-63XM.pdf
  4. this source says that the driver reference in the newest nvidia driver for the 635m is the same as for the 555m Neuer GeForce-Treiber kündigt zukünftige Grafikkarten an - 02.12.2011 - ComputerBase They also mention that they already suspected it to be also produced in 40nm in their last news
  5. yes, i could imagine they sell the m14x with the 635m at the beginning of 2012, since 555m production will be stopped at sometime (??) and this is basically the same chip.. They announced the first releases of the 600 series in december another source already stated, that they will use 144 shaders and come in a 128bit and 192bit version.. now the question is if gddr5 or still ddr3, but looking at this chart http://www.notebookcheck.com/uploads/tx_jppageteaser/Unbenannt_01.png a ddr3 release would be very probable well and if its ddr5, the cooling would also be of importance, since it would probably run hotter than the ddr3 version (well when it uses the 192 bit bus atleast)
  6. Hi, This news concerns all our m14x! Nvidia Geforce 600M series comes on December 2011, But not Kepler - Lenzfire It seems that they are just renaming the 555m, to 630m (the 128-bit version) and 635m (the 192 bit version) This tells us that the follow-up of the 555m will only be a rebranded 635m in our case.. The 630:635 is also based on the gf106 chip as found in the 555m
  7. looks good ! will be doing the same test as soon as i have battlefield 3 !
  8. some people have also claimed the 450 gts (not an oem card) has a similiar perfomace NVIDIA GeForce GTS 450 But unlike the 545 it has DDR5 and a 128 bit bus.. It seems this would represent the GDDR5 version of the 555m This is maybe the closest non-oem card
  9. yes me too, i would gladly test this, but unfortunately dont have bf3 yet but as soon as i will get it, i will test it! this could be interesting too since i have the 2430m
  10. hey thanks for your great answers guys! i will think about if i will either flash bios a05 unlocked or the a01.. which modified a01 are you talking about btw and what makes it different compared to the a01 stock bios? Hey and thanks for the input on the i5 vs the i7 steven I also thought about most benchmarks and i hate it when they use the ingame benchmark or use sp missions to judge the fps especially in online games like bf3.. I could imagine that there is a difference between i5 and i7 when they are utilized in cpu intensive situations.. I could live with less perfomance since im very happy with my temperatures However two of the main reasons I got the i5 is because I saved some money (im a student^^) and because its supposed to run cooler and it certainly does.. My i5 2430m runs at a max temperature of about 80 degrees avg when turbo boost is enabled.. Now I only checked this on a 32 server bfbc2 game, i could imagine that it gets a bit hotter when using furmark.. but since bfbc2 is one of the most cpu demanding games i know i think other games wont even reach those temperatures Now for the benchmarking, I would be glad to volunteer to benchmark my 2430m Sadly I didnt buy bf3 yet but this will be a matter of days or at max, weeks.. Oh and one more thing, I think this forum has alot of very good people like svl7, ninjahunter and stevenowens, im glad to be here ^^ on nbr they dont even seem to know about the voltage mod xD
  11. Hi, I just got my i5 2430m m14x and im very very happy so far, i have had no real issues so far like a crooked spacebar or the keyboard scratching the screen.. also the build quality seems excellent, im pleasantly surprised I have the bios a05 btw since this is a newer m14x.. The only thing that bugs me a bit, is that the fan spins even when im doing light tasks like browsing and skyping (with webcam) I have read that the stock a05 sets the first fan kick in at 55 degrees, which seems legit, since alot of users report that they have idle temps of 45 -55 (but in most cases i7 users) Now I have a few questions about the various Bioses 1. If I flash the unlocked a05 bios, will I be able to reflash the stock a05 bios? 2. Can I flash an older Bios like the a03 or a01, even when im on a05? 3. Does the stock a05 allow hotter temperatures then the a01 or a03 (Thats what ninjahunter wrote for example) 4. Are there any risks involved when flashing the unlocked a05 bios? And how does this work? I would guess via windows executable, im not that computer savvy but often people say this is the unsafest way of flashing your bios, they often recommend flashing via something bootable (although im not sure how) If there are any risks, are their ways of rescuing the bios without disassembling the m14x? 5. And the last Question: What does the Voltage Mod do exactly? And is this combined with the unlocked a05 bios? Sorry for the many questions, but im thinking about flashing the unlocked a05 bios and setting the fan speeds myself (for example that the fan kicks in at 60) Thanks in advance and greets to steven EDIT: with allowing higher temps i mean that the a05 bios is supposed to keep the fans quieter even at full load with the cost of the cpu running a bit hotter than on the a03 or a01 while being really loud
  12. Btw, Have you considered this? Review Intel Sandy Bridge Processors Gaming Performance - Notebookcheck.net Reviews Intel Sandy Bridge Processors Gaming Performance: Part II - Notebookcheck.net Reviews They clearly show that even in bfbc2 there are no to minor differences between the fps in those games! So why do you have different results? I mean they have every game except for the witcher 2
  13. thanks for the reply! i know that in theory its supposed to be cooler because it has less TDP and only 2 cores versus 4.. But arent there any benchmarks?
  14. Hi, Would you m14x owners with an i5 2410m would be so generous to run benchmarks and post the corresponding temperatures for them? A furmark benchmark with and without prime 95 would also be appreciated! This could help alot of people on deciding for the i5. In the U.S. its maybe not worth getting but in Germany or other countries in europe its about 200 euro (not dollar!!) cheaper. Now if it also runs cooler than the i7 this would be awesome. You always have the option to exchange the cpu later on. So please post benchmarks doesnt matter which ones but please remember: DO POST THE TEMPERATURES! Under load and idle and say which game.. Many say the CPU runs cool during games but often they dont use the CPU at full load like battlefield bad company 2 or BF3 Beta Thanks in advance!
