  1. I have already done it. Even swapped around the memory sticks between the 2 memory slots, testing one at a time. The memtest usually reboots during the test, but when it finishes, no errors.
  2. If you can afford the space, go fot it. Just keep in mind that although SSDs are MUCH more reliable than HDDs, they may also fail. In their case, data retrieval in catastrophic scenarios may be much harder than a HDD. Always keep backups, at least of you important information.
  3. If all you want is gaming, you definitely don't need the 4790, it's overkill. Anything above a 4440 (!!!) has returns diminishing VERY rapidly for the $$$ spent. I'd go for a Broadwell (5th gen) if I can get a good deal, and get an i7 with overclockable headroom. The motherboard upgrade would be also important for overclocking potential, don't skimp on that. Get an all-in-one liquid closed cooling solution for your CPU alone and sail away. From that, 760 would be the very minimum I'd go for a GPU. Currently I'd consider the new Radeon video cards with HBM. I am very curious as to what kind of power that huge memory bandwidth can unleash, it might be a game changer.
  4. For the sake of future-proofing I'd go With a FreeSync monitor if you prefer AMD video cards, or G-Sync if you are more onto Nvidia. THat makes a difference for image quality even if your video card can't go all the way to 60FPS or more. Older video cards may not take advantage of the tech, but in the long run it doesn't matter. And AMD is the cheaper tech here, since it's built in to the standard already. Just check for the right specs before buying.
  5. - Since they seem to sell not only motherboards, but also the chassis & stuff: - option for touchscreens for OEMs/computer boutiques to offer the option in their configurable models. Not crucial, but once you start using a 2 in 1, you start reaching for the scren as an *additional* input method, even if it's not the primary one (mouse still rules). It's a good perk to have, but currently not an available option. - AMD HBM memory based models! Curious about the performance. - Upgradable GPU cards
  6. I am experiencing random reboots. THe machine is new and under warranty. I have swapped the RAM around to try to rule it out, but it is still rebooting. I fear a problem with the energy modulation chips on the motherboard. would any BIOS settings like over/undervolting help me debug it? My board is based on W370SS
