  1. Agreed, however we can make hardware and OS changes ourselves to suit our needs where console gamers cant. We can also choose not to invest money in games where the developers cant be bothered to deliver a working game. I wasted so much money on the battlefield frachise that was frankly, unplayable for me due to some major bugs and crashes. I now no longer buy EA / Dice games. My old gaming laptop after a ram upgrade and OS now runnign form an SSD is running borderlands 2 on all settings on high like a champ. It's frustrating when another game that does not as nice at the best of times wont run at all on the same hardware.
  2. Its just so much easier for them to project sales in the console market. They know exactly how many machines that are capable of running their games are out there which makes it easier to make a business case to make the game. It is easier to develop on console because there is only one or two variations of hardware not an infinite combination of memory, video proc, cpu etc,... Then there is the fact that PC gamers are viewed as serious and unforgiving, if a dev gets i wrong, they will not be forgiven easily. Get a console game wrong and it will blend into the mists of history and they can try again next time. The steam boxes were supposed to address this but it has not really taken off yet. A baseline level of hardware so that game developers have an accessible baseline to work from.
  3. I loved it, It plays really well on PC and the only way you would guess that it might be a console port is that it has good controller support in the options. I recall that it was actually quite hard to get used to with a mouse and I think that it had some mouse acceleration that i had to disable but god damn, this is a good game. I like the fact that they show people smoking as well, the TV and film industry are being forced to pretend that only evil people smoke but in games aimed towards adults, they show people smoking which, like it or hate it, people still do in real life so...well, I just thought it was a nice detail to include.
  4. It is worth checking that your hard disk is not bottle necking your system. The disk was running at 100% during peroids of low fps. I put an msata SSD in and I even got an extra 10fps in cities in dayz. Its not all about your video card.
  5. I've been playing H1Z1 for a while through the early access program, It shows promise as something to take over from what the DaYz Mods started. DayZ standalone is a bit of a non starter for me, for 18 months it was essentially unplayable so i just gave up on it. Recently, In H1Z1, the pay for a supply drop option has basically turned it into one big death match. Somebody pays 5 usd for an airdrop so that they can get a gun with ammo without spending hours looting. As soon as that air drops comes in, every player in the area swarms on it and the fighting begins. It is immensely frustrating and I d not think that it bring any value to the gameplay. It just creates a reason for PVP as if any more reasons were needed. I'l like to see the developers come up with some fun an exciting things for players to do instead of the tired old KOS PVP that happens when people are bored. The Air drops are not exactly pay to win at this point but if they start adding more things that you can buy then it wont be long before you have to pay if you want to win.
