  1. Two go into the electrical tape, and 1 comes out. I'll unravel it, but it looks like they are twisted in there. Is that alright?
  2. I didn't even consider doing this. So right now there is an EVGA GTX 960 in my Akitio. It only requires 1 x 6 pin PCIe power adapter to power the card. Should I just go for one of these rockminer cables since I don't need more than 1 PCIe power adapter? EDIT: Sorry if I sound like I have no idea what I am doing, but it is because I am a bit lost. Currently I am considering desoldering the work that has been done on mine, and just starting fresh following the information outlines in this thread. I may go another route, but I have not had much time to really research much yet. Just busy with work, life, etc. EDIT 2: One more question, would a 120W power supply that has a barrel plug already attached work for what I currently have setup? So the PCIe power plug is soldered to the back of the board that that female barrell plug is connected to. With an EVGA GTX 960 plugged in, could I potentially just plug in a 120W pico PSU with a barrell adapter like the one linked here: https://www.amazon.com/Power-Supply-PicoPSU-110-240vAC-Switching/dp/B0081S1YEE
  3. Any chance someone could point me in the right direction as to where I should head next. I'm kind of at a loss, and since I don't have a laboratory bench PSU I can't just plug it in. I appreciate all of the help I can get.
  4. He did not have it connected to the Dell yet. He somehow powered it another way. I can't remember exactly what he said but something about a bench the provided the power.
  5. Okay so I pulled everything apart and took some photos. It looks like the 6 pin PCIe is soldered to the back of the female barrel plug as shown in this photo below. I also provided a photo of the barrel plug with exposed wires I was provided as well as the dell power brick. Thanks for the response and the help. I am at a complete loss and would love to get this working.
  6. I'll pull the board off when I get home and take a look, but without pulling that board off that is what it looks like. I'll upload another photo, but it won't be for about 8 hours. The wires are fed to the back and it looks like they may be soldered to the barrel plug or the board that the female barrel plug adapter is on. Also, thank you for the response. I really appreciate the help.
  7. Hi, I am in need of some help. Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction. I purchased an Akitio eGPU from someone on Reddit. The eGPU came a little bit incomplete. The seller was able to use the eGPU by some other method, but intended on using the DELL power brick as that was included with the purchase. I am kind of at a loss on where to go with wiring up the DELL power brick because the wiring in mine does not really look like anything in this thread unless I am just missing something. I have included some photos here, but it looks like the GPU is wired and soldered to the female molex plug on the Akitio.
  8. I really appreciate the information! Seriously, thanks for taking the time. Again, amazing setup. What is the limitation with OS X and the 970? Just drivers? So, from what I can see on this forum, I should be able to get it working in OS X, using a similar setup as yours, but I would just need a different card.
  9. I am really new to all of this, and I am trying to research as much as possible, but all of the information is getting a little confusing. I just want to be sure, so you have this up and running in Windows 8.1? It works on just the internal display BUT also will work with an external display? Can this configuration work in OS X on the internal LCD. I really like your config the most out of what I have seen so far. Great job. It looks super clean, and the benchmarks are amazing. I just want to be sure I can run this in OS X on the internal LCD, as well as an external, before I run out and buy all of the parts. It looks like Windows 8.1 is running great from what I can tell. EDIT: Btw, I have an 11 inch Macbook Air, 2011 version, but I can't imagine that matters. I am looking to increase the gaming performance, and I know I won't get the same benchmarks, but I would like to make something I can keep using when I do upgrade my macbook, everything else I would imagine would be the same as far as configuration.
