Lenovo Y510p w/ 7260HMW AC Wireless. Please Assist. First Time on Forum.

You don't need an upgrade especially from lenovo. You need to remove the whitelist from the bios so you can install your new wifi card. You actually have to downgrade to version 2.07 and follow the step as mention by "kevzho". After doing the mod, check your fan to see if it works properly under load, some ppl have problem with the fan controller after the mod.- 5 replies

Macbook Pro vs Windows 8 Laptop
hunghp replied to robzie's question in What Notebook Best Fits My Needs?
I recently purchased dell XPS 15inch, core i5-4200H with touch screen for my brother. It is a very solid machine, very much like Apple laptop and it can handles all the latest games with ease. -
I have lenovo y510p which over heats like crazy, re-pasting helps a lot, however, I find that Artic MX4 and a drop and a good press gives the best results.

If you are just doing business work on the laptop, get something with battery life. Try to lenovo yoga, the only thing I don't like is the function keys lcd, switching back and forth is annoying. Dell XPS 15 is a good choice as well, if the price is too steep, you can get older model used but in crisp condition online.

Lenovo Y510p or somthing else ?
hunghp replied to tifozif1's question in What Notebook Best Fits My Needs?
I have the y510p, but it's like luck of the draw, I also know 3 others ppl owned the same machine ( I have 750m sli). My machine is fine, 2 other ppl machine, the speaker and wifi card just died. The heating is not that bad if you re-paste the cpu and gpu which I did an it hover around 80 Celcius under extreme load. You can download CPU and GPU stress test software to push it and test. I am thinking of modding the bios in case my wifi card go too. -
One thing that most ppl forget is malware, they consume a lot or cpu processing power and could heats up your laptop as well.
