  1. It's at least 2nd hand... but it looks very professional. I guess it's no factory option, since I didn't find anything on the part list. Perhaps the cover was scratched and the seller applied it to increase the value. I'm still trying to decrease the battery wear with training, but nevertheless it's not yet time to replace the battery (~25-30%). In conrast my E6330's battery is almost in mint condition (0,1% wear). It was in a good shape when I got it last year and I turned off Express Charge...
  2. Sure, I did a small comparison, since I have the complete E6X30 series at home The E6430 still fits in my favourite bag, as the E6330 did. Especially if you have the large battery in the E6330, it's deeper than the E6430 with the regular battery. The E6430 is about 1.7cm wider. This are the specs: E6330, iGPU model, 65Wh battery E6430, iGPU model, 60Wh battery E6530, dGPU model, 97Wh battery 1) I've put them on a body scale (bad precision): E6330: 2.0kg E6430: 2.4kg E6530: 3.0kg 2) Pictures:
  3. Nice thread with impressive findings. Especially the UEFI variables are great. Used it aleady for other E6XX0s. I've had a couple of spare E6530's (i7-3740QM+dGPU) at work and discovered that I'd need more cpu power at home. Finally I found some good offers for E6430 + CPU as replacement for my E6330 (i5-3360M). The switch over was pretty easy... just replaced the CPU, inserted my hdds, lowered the tolud and everything was up and running. specs: E6430 (iGPU model) i7-3610QM RAM: 8GB Hyundai Default PC3-12800 SSD: Crucial M500 240GB HDD in DVD bay: WD Red 1TB eGPU: ZOTAC GeForce GTX 670 AMP! Edition via PE4C 2.1a planned mods: replace screen (currently hd) replace broadcom wifi with Intel Ultimate N 6300
  4. No, it doesn't work... Windows 10 1551, Intel HD 4000 + GTX 670 with latest drivers. At least for <= 3rd gen Intel Core it seems to be driver related and Intel won't support it fully with Windows 10 (no WDDM 2.0 + unsigned driver).
  5. At least for me the shorter cable didn't make a difference: EVGA GeForce GTX 460 FPB (PCIe 2.X). In a couple of days/week a friend will get a PE4C 2.1 for his GTX 560... I will update you as soon as I have more information.
  6. Today I've got a ZOTAC GeForce GTX 670 AMP! Edition, which will be my final card for now. This are my summarized test results: success@Gen1: PE4C 2.1a (PCIe 2.X) + EVGA GeForce GTX 460 FPB (PCIe 2.X) fail@Gen2: PE4C 2.1a (PCIe 2.X) + EVGA GeForce GTX 460 FPB (PCIe 2.X) success@Gen2: PE4L 2.1b (PCIe 3.X) + EVGA GeForce GTX 460 FPB (PCIe 2.X) success@Gen2: PE4C 2.1a (PCIe 2.X) + no name AMD R9 270 (PCIe 3.X) success@Gen2: PE4C 2.1a (PCIe 3.X) + ZOTAC GeForce GTX 670 AMP! Edition (PCIe 3.X)
  7. With testsigning disabled the DSDT override won't happen. A simple fallback solution is to copy your default boot entry via bcdedit and have one with testsigning enabled and one with testsigning disabled. Even after successful override, my system became two times unbootable: when it came back from service when my TOLUD changed magically without swapping memory in or out
  8. Your explanation is very vague. Please do some benchmark and compare your results with similar systems (Implementations Hub). I guess your Chipset is a ICH9M and you're limited to PCIe 1.1. By disabling the dGPU and using a NVIDIA eGPU you could benefit from optimus compression.
  9. Got the EC060C today. Unfortunately the crashes still occur with a GTX460@gen2.
  10. I ordered my PE4C just because of the goodies you've mentioned above: The option to have a soldered PE4C would be great. For now I can live with the shorter variant... but I'll have to reorganize my desk I'll send you my contact details via pm as requested by bplus. Thank you for your great commitment to the eGPU community
  11. Got a R9 270 today and can confirm a stable Gen2 Link with PE4C 2.1a/EC100C. Perhaps at least one endpoint has to support PCIe 3.X to have enough headroom. fail@Gen2: PE4C 2.1a (PCIe 2.X) + GTX460 (PCIe 2.X) success@Gen2: PE4L 2.1b (PCIe 3.X) + GTX460 (PCIe 2.X) success@Gen2: PE4C 2.1a (PCIe 2.X) + R9 270 (PCIe 3.X)
  12. After several years of happy eGPUing with my Acer Aspire 3820TG, I decided to have an upgrade. My first choice was a Dell E6330. It provides a Gen2 capable express card slot and two free non blacklisted mPCIE-slots (unfortunately not usable for X2). There are successful implementations for the 12" and 14" variants of this device. Until it's verfied that everything works properly, I'll be using my old GPU (EVGA GTX460). I hope that my SFX PSU (Silverstone ST45SF) will be sufficient for modern cards aswell. I ordered a PE4L-EC100A from China because my favourite adapter PE4C-EC100C V2.1 was out of stock. Two days later the PE4C was available again and I placed my order. Fortunately bplustech didn't respond to my cancellation request (read on). The PE4C was the first package to arrive. I had the DSDT override already in place, my E6330 didn't lower the TOLUD as experienced by Tech Inferno Fan with his E6230. When it came to GPU load, I had random BSODs. I could exclude a GPU or PSU defect, since the combination worked flawless in my old setup. Using Setup 1.30 I lowered the bandwidth to Gen1 and everything was fine. Yesterday my PE4L arrived and with this one the Gen2 link works properly. I was quite happy that the order wan't cancelled. This are my scores (old card - old benchmarks): Gen1 (E6330) 3dmark06: 18603 3dmark11: 3162 [*]Gen2 (E6330) 3dmark06: 19225 3dmark11: 3281 Setup: Hardware Dell Latitude E6330 8 GB RAM SSD: Crucial M500 240GB HDD in DVD bay PE4L-EC100A [*]Software Windows 8.1 DSDT override Setup 1.30 (just required for Gen1 link test) Unfortunately the E6330 has a defective ethernet port and I will return it to the reseller. If they don't return the fixed notebook, I'll probably get this model again or go for a E6440. Since my girlfriend already uses the 3820TG, I decided to distress my almost discarded office notebook Dell E6510 with an egpu implementation. This time the DSDT override was a little bit tricky, but I finally managed it by using an older version of iasl (win-20140926) an a PLD patch from RehabMan's repository. Scores E6510, setup as obove: 3dmark06: 14385 3dmark11: 3000 Conclusion: the GTX460 is my bottleneck
