Well, both. I have mid 2012 non-retina MBP with 650m. It would be nice if I could plug at least 2 external monitors via Display ports of an eGPU and still be able to use my internal display on any of the operating systems. I wonder if it is possible.

Honestly it is much less frightening to watch how to do it than to read about it. Can the same be done on a mid 2012 MacBook Pro (non-retina and extended to 16 GB ram) with somewhat less expensive GPU (like 970)? I am pretty sure that this question has already been answered somewhere at this forum, but after reading it for several days I feel completely lost and will be grateful for any insight. Thanks in advance
